While Thailand is still closed and is completely incompetent about opening to tourism, many Central American countries are open. I just returned 3 weeks ago from Costa Rica where only purchasing Covid insurance was a requirement for entry. Next month I’m going to Colombia where only a Covid test is required for entry. Mexico does not require anything for entry. Many other countries require just a Covid test to enter. To return home to my USA only a Covid test is required. Thailand will
probably continue to be closed to tourism for quite some time, losing tons of money while other countries are open for tourism with testing or other small requirements.

Well, if Thailand wants me to be a fish and to catch me, they will have to eliminate the ridiculous entry requirements. Until that time, I am off to Costa Rica January 16-26, where they only require covid insurance and January 30-February 9 to Colombia, where they don't require anything. Sorry Thailand, but this fish, me, will go spend my thousands of USD$ where I am welcomed. Good luck on catching your "fish". 555

Why do they keep calling these “tourists”? These are not tourists, they are investors. I am a tourist, as I come on vacation from the USA for 14 nights every 2 months to party and see different parts of Thailand and then go back to work for 2 months. I have no plans of investing money in Thailand. No tourist will do 14 nights quarantine, including me, for a 2 week vacation in Thailand. I just returned from a 5 night vacation in Miami, Florida and there were no travel restrictions, except wearing a mask on the airplane. January 16-26 I’m off to Costa Rica for 10 nights and the only requirement is buying Covid insurance for $11.20 per day. That is it! Mexico has no restrictions whatsoever, at all. Thailand is highly delusional is they think “tourists “ will come with crazy requirements. There are other vacation destinations around the work besides Thailand, that actually want tourists’ money. Anyway, the schemes they put out every week are highly entertaining, but also stupid and insulting. Just stay closed, Thailand, because your schemes make you look like complete fools.

Where would be your fav pick to visit with the same cost as LOS or cheaper, as Im stuck in the states---ugh
Mexico is open to Americans with no restrictions whatsoever. Costa Rica is open to Americans as of November 1, only requiring COVID insurance, which can be purchased from their two insurance companies for just over $11 a day. This info. is available on the internet, if you do a search. I am looking at going to Costa Rica in January, as they are similar to Thailand in weather, beaches and nightlife.

I’m ready to buy a condo, but it must include a government tracking bracelet. In fact, I’ll buy two condos, if I can get two tracking bracelets, one for each wrist. 555

If I want to be tracked like this, I will take a vacation in North Korea or China. There is no way most tourists will accept to be tracked and treated like this, just for the "privilege" to visit Thailand. There are other vacation destinations that are open and tourists will choose those destinations which impose the least restrictions. As an American, I am off to Miami in ten days and in February, I'm off to Mexico. No COVID test, no quarantine, no COVID insurance and no tracking bracelet required. Thailand will lose out on tons of tourist money due to the excessive requirements, as people will go to other counties.

PM to look into extending tourist visas to 90 days

Why does Thailand always complicate things? Make it easy for tourists or snowbirds to enter and stay in your country and the the county will generate income. As an American, I have visited the following counties and received 90 days visa on arrival: Malaysia, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia. In Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia you can extend another 90 days past the original 90 days, but it must be done with immigration, for an additional nominal cost. I know Americans here in Medellin, Colombia that come live and work here in the winter for 180 days and then they must leave Colombia for 180 days and thus return to USA. Many people work online so they don't need to always live in a particular country, thus they can move around. The retired snowbirds can also benefit from living in their counties in the winter and in Thailand for 180 days. To me, it's a no-brainer, but for Thais, it seems a little complicated and difficult. Make it easy Thailand!
