If you are coming after October 1st (and b4 March 31st) you can get a 45 day Visa Exemption,  expendable for 30 days.  This might fit your needs with less stress

Already came visa exempt 3 times this year. IO at DM airport doesn’t want me to do it again.

Is there any airport that has “mai ben rai” immigration likely to allow a 4th visa exempt entry?

     Please advise

  2. On the Thai Tourist Visa application form (Vietnam version):

what’s a good thing to write for “local guarantor”? (I don’t know anyone in Vietnam)

What about “guarantor in Thailand” if I don’t have anyone who wants to be involved?

For “Occupation (include position and name of employer)” would visa be more likely to be denied if put “unemployed”? what might an acceptable answer be in such a situation?

“Proof of accommodation to stay covering at least half of the trip with complete information.”

Really we are expected to pay for a month of hotel before even knowing if we’ll be granted a visa?

  4. My friend’s first teeth cleaning in Thailand was not a good experience.

Let’s start with the apparently common practice here of covering the patient’s entire face so they can’t see what might be going into their mouth.

The cleaning itself was maybe 15 minutes, often painful, and teeth did not feel smooth or clean afterwards. Went to dentist in home country shortly thereafter and they noted significant plaque had not been removed.

Dental hygienist in home country usually spends at least 60 minutes scraping and teeth feel smooth and clean afterwards.

Looking for a dental clinic with cleaning comparable to a Western country.

I can only go on the embassies I have used, UK and HCMC. HCMC is not on evisa and my most recent ME Non O, 3 months before pandemic.

But does HCMC still issue visas to nationals of other countries whose home country is on evisa?

My friend is considering going to HCMC to get a Tourist Visa. Their home country is eligible to apply for evisa, but they would not want to fly back to home country just to get visa in passport.

Could they get an evisa, go to Vietnam and return with that evisa?

If an incoming flight is mandatory then this would mean the online visa service is tricking people into making mistakes. Seems unlikely...

I sent an email to my local Thai embassy. Will report their answer here.

I feel you but the form is supposed to enable people to get an online visa without hassle. Offering an option that is not an option would defeat the purpose. I'm gonna ask my Thai embassy and will report here later on...

So what did the embassy say?

Regarding getting a tourist visa in HCMC by physically going into the consulate.  Are they still doing that?  I thought it was all done through the e-Visa website now?  I believe you have to be in your home country to do that no?

    That’s the topic:

Has anyone (who is not Vietnamese) gotten a Tourist Visa in Vietnam recently?

  8. The reason the low level IO passed this to supervisor IO is because was entering Thailand before the date of a COVID extension expired and IO didn’t know how to process that.

Got a 60 day covid extension

    Stayed 7 days

    Spent 30 days in Canada

Returned to Thailand 23 days before the 60 day extension end date

Very simple process at consulate in Saigon.

Bonus is a very fun city.

Did your friend consider obtaining SETV at eg Vientiane.

The advantage is that avoids scrutiny at airport on reenter.

BTW Much of what the io stated was rubbish.

    One example.....

"IO said they were writing a note in the file that if a 30 day extension was requested it should be denied and would get a 1 year ban"......rubbish.

You mentioned 3rd visa exempt. Where did friend fly into Thailand from?

    Also time between entries.

If that IO was wrong, would it be an even better plan to use an agent to request the 30 day extension?

Friend spent a month in Canada between each visa exempt entry.

  10. During “my friend’s” 3rd visa exempt entry this year the IO (supervisor level) at DM airport almost denied entry and only gave a 30 day stamp after purchased a ticket out of Thailand right in front of them. IO said they were writing a note in the file that if a 30 day extension was requested it should be denied and would get a 1 year ban. That IO said have to apply for a visa from outside Thailand, no more visa exempt entries. I don’t know if just got unlucky with the IO who made up a new rule or if there is now a limit on visa exempt entries.

Intend to do a visa run to Vietnam to apply for a Tourist Visa.

Have any experience getting a Thai Tourist Visa issued in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam?

The throwaway, cheapo LMG plan to meet the minimum requirements for Thai immigration and an April My Thailand plan, which includes Covid coverage.  The additional policy with LMG is needed to cover the 40,000 THB outpatient requirement which the April My Thailand plan does not include (and to add outpatient coverage to this April Plan is much more expensive than the LMG policy).

AA sent a policy for April My Thailand that actually says it's from LMG - is your April plan underwritten by LMG?

Based on the post on The Thaiger, there is an update on message of AXA Product and Coverage, to ensure we give the right understanding and best coverage to the customers, please find below:

    Thanks & Regards,

Nice try AXA. The webpage states "This document is not insurance contract" and your comment refers to "the policy" - any other reassurance is meaningless when it comes time for AXA to pay (or not pay).

Where in the policy does it state "AXA will cover for the hospital expense necessarily incurred if an insured person is tested positive for COVID-19 regardless of the showing of symptoms"?

The word "necessarily" also implies it would be up to AXA to determine that none of it is "necessary" without showing symptoms.

The experience personally for me is just the same because I used the local govt hospital when I had health ins, as it happens it works out much cheaper than health insurance.

We are lucky to have a good hospital obviously the Asthma clinic within the hospital is busy but I get health checked every 4 months.

How can you qualify for government health insurance, other than working and paying taxes?

Which government hospitals in Bangkok would you recommend?
