  1. Thanks for your comments! My only question is: what does the "higher income requirement for the Non-O" mean? Does that mean I need to be making a certain level of income from this employer? I was planning to work there only part-time...

    Thanks!

......Since my O visa is good for another 9 months and from what I understand work permits are allowed on O visas, can I use my current, exisitng "O" visa to apply for a work permit through this new employer?

Yes, you can get a WP with a Non-O Visa. Non-OA and Non-OE might be a different situation, but a standard Non-O will be fine.

FYI, I have a WP on my Non-O. Each Year, I get the WP and the visa extended 1 year.

......If I can use my current visa, what is the procedure to get the work permit? ...

The easiest way if your new employer has done Work Permits before, is get them to do all the stuff. Apart from a higher income requirement for Non-O than Non-B, there in no diference applying. Many Legal places have not applied for a WP with a Non-O, however, just tell them the procedure is the same as a Non-B.

    Hope that helps.

  2. I got a Non-Immigrant "O" Visa in May using a letter of support from Employer X, however I never received a work permit thru this employer and now no longer work for them. (This was a small NGO who was not willing to support me thru the whole work permit process, but I ended up not wanting to work for them for other reasons.)

I now want to work for Employer Y, which is a language center which is willing to support me thru the work permit process. Since my O visa is good for another 9 months and from what I understand work permits are allowed on O visas, can I use my current, exisitng "O" visa to apply for a work permit through this new employer?

If I can use my current visa, what is the procedure to get the work permit?

If not, then what do I need to do?

FYI- I'll be returning to the US in about a month and can take care of required procedures from that end while I am there, but I need to know what paper work will be required and necessary to get organized before I leave Thailand...

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!
