The Thaivisa group on fb have started a rumour that it’s due to end. I don’t buy it myself, but many will now buy an overpriced false visa

If it expiring on the 30th it should not be a problem getting another extension.
Even though it should’ve been rightfully cancelled in June? Do I need to revisit CW or just go to MTT?

When does the extension you have that they did not cancel expire?
If it has not expired or been canceled you will have problems applying for any extension.
October 30th. I plan on having that sorted and going to MTT for the 60 day amnesty extension

I lost my job in June and my employer gave me all the paperwork after cancelling my work permit. I went to an empty CW and the IO flicked through my passport, said I’m now on amnesty and gave no stamps. I always assumed in the current situation this was correct. I now know it should’ve been stamped. I need to apply for the 60 day extension before the 31st. Will there be any issues going back to CW? There will be no record of me going in June, aside from the passport scan on the way in.

I live beside the TAT building and they’re holding a meeting on the front steps. The one speaking with a mic is setting things on fire, and someone else comes and extinguishes it. Not sure what it’s about, perhaps a fire drill, however symbolic of Thailand’s tourism, as it stands.

Smart visa is aimed at investors and startups. There’s nothing really for WFH for a foreign company.

I got refused a letter today (non-b multi), I asked for extra 30 days to give me time to secure a new job.
Same story with me. They wanted a contract.

Have any of the previous extensions come so late?

You might take 15,000 baht to an agency and let them worry about it for you...
What are providing in return? 70k for dodgy volunteer is all I’ve been getting

Your extension of stay ended when your work permit was cancelled. Normally CW would have acknowledged this by cancelling out your stamp and issuing a 7-day extension to allow you time to exit the country. But under "amnesty" many things became 'back-room' automatic rubber stamped.
You, like many others, are currently under amnesty and must follow the options the people of that group are currently taking.
I understand that, however know a vast amount others were still stamped.

Pattaya News
More soon but The Thai Cabinet has approved, in principle, a special tourist visa to allow 90 day stays for 2000 baht with two 90 day renewals. This is not, however, intended for those on amnesty or in the country now but an option for long stay tourists who plan to enter the country during proposed tourist programs. As the plan was just approved today (in principle) it will likely take some to roll out to embassies and for details to be official.

I lost my job in May. End of May I was told my work permit is cancelled and I need to cancel my extension of stay. I collected all the paperwork and went to CW. A female IO flicked through my passport, handed to a male IO, he flicked then said “ok, you’re on amnesty.” No stamps at all. I assumed in the pandemic this was correct.
In speaking with several agents since, one just said I am fine here until my extension of stay ends in October, but may have problems getting another visa down the road.
I am a little worried and want to keep my nose clean, while also extending my stay here. Catch 22. Seems the IO just didn’t do his job and there’s literally no proof I attempted to cancel it. What should I do?

NOBODY is being hurt by the amnesty, and people are being helped---either Thais who get to keep their jobs because there are people still here staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, taking taxis, having the occasional beer, buying some clothes, etc.......or foreigners who are not risking getting the virus by climbing into a steel tube with 300 other people for 10-25 hours and then resuming life in lands where the virus is still rampant. Those of us who have enjoyed Thailand's generosity are grateful for what we've been given, and many would gladly accept more, as it only has benefits to both us and Thailand.
If it is LEGAL to stay, many will stay. If extensions are granted, many will stay. It shouldn't matter to you one whit.
He doesn’t have a clue anyway. Overstay fines begin from the 27th if no extension.

the only new announcements you may get today is about this new 9 month visa........but it’s likely you apply for that from outside thailand as it’s a visa to encourage new tourists.
Everybody took note last time, then last minute extension. It’s incredibly naive to think the snippets of info are gospel and not an attempt to force panic, agents, and all the subsequent money it brings.

Will probably be extended 2 months at a time.
No borders are open.
You cannot just jump on a flight home.
Amnesty extension is easier than easing the process of 30, 60, or 90 day extensions.
In 2 months time, on month into the European and North American winter, I fear the winter wave of Covid is going to be massive.

@bwoy32 Did they give a reason for your denial?
I just said I had planned to go to Vietnam for 3 months then get another 1 year ed visa. Now I can't do either because the borders are closed. Also mentioned some other stuff about why it would be difficult for me to go back to England.
Seems you got lucky. No help to me at all. My mother lives in the US with late stage cancer, as it stands I cannot take an urgent flight from the UK, but can from Thailand. They didn’t acknowledge this part at all.

We need media pressure and people pressure to help get it extended. Email and write to local media. That's a large part of what it has been extended in the past. We need the media to help.
I sent an email after the PM read the German’s open letter. Maybe fell on deaf ears, who knows ????

Richard Burrow doesn't think there be an extension and he didn't push for one last the previous times.
UbonJoe thinks it'll be happen.
I am not sure. .
I hope so.
His opinion is based on embassy letters, not a new thing and people were extending prior to the last extension.

Just use the link Ubonjoe gave on the first page of this thread.
I gave no proof of cancelled flights and by the looks of it, the letters just seem to be standard issue with your name and date of arrival in Thailand pasted in.
what did you say? Mine was denied today ???? -

>> Link of interest re application for British Embassy support letter
thanks for sharing this! I am now scrambling to get some sort of proof from my future employer to send. I will include what was stated in this post.
as it stands, is it possible to go from a cancelled extension of stay non b, to a new extension of stay or non b for a new job? Has the border run requirement been eliminated?
-
I guess my emphasis on the UK to US flight ban was the wrong choice. My mother has stage 4 cancer in Michigan and can’t take an urgent flight from the UK, as it stands.

“The British Embassy can only issue a letter to support applications to extend existing visas for British Nationals who require a letter to apply for a Non-Immigrant visa or for those who are unable to travel to their country of residence due to border closures or if the FCO advises against travel to that country.
If you require a letter from us to apply for a Non-Immigrant visa, please reply to this email with evidence of your long-term visa application such as your employment contract.
You will receive an auto-reply from us once we have received your documents. Please ensure your email is less than 5MB.
We will issue you with a letter within 5 working days of receiving all supporting documentation.
If you are unable to apply for a Non-Immigrant visa, you should make a plan to return home before your current Thai visa expires.”

What was the reason for the denial ?
No evidence of a job offer. It’s only been verbal so far as there’s no means to go from my non b extension of stay to a new non b. I resigned in May, living happily on savings.

I left Thailand to visit my mother in the states for a few months. Whilst there I bought myself and girlfriend new MacBooks.
Returning to Thailand and I’ll be bringing both along with my old one.
The items are quite high value and should I expect to be hit with import duty or do they only really do random spot checks?
