  1. It is highly unlikely that any policeman's story in this country is believable. It is well known that in the

Thailand that the cops change the facts to fit the horsepucky.

It wouldn't suprise me if someone snuck into the hospital where the wife is and snuffed her out to keep

her from testifying to the actual facts against the cop.

  2. Amazing Thailand! Yes that is good news. So how many Thais who have murdered Tourists have actually

been caught, tried, and fried? Now why didn't he get bail when they first locked him up like the Policeman

creep that murdered in cold blood those Brits a year or so ago.

I would have been happy to pull the trigger myself on that scum bag, but only after I had run over him

with a car a few times.

  3. Man, 24, gets death for slaying Russian women

PATTAYA: -- A 24-year-old man was sentenced to death by the Pattaya Court Monday for the murder of two Russian women on Jomtien beach in February.

Anuchit Lamlert got the maximum punishment after the court decided not to cut his sentence on grounds the defendant confessed - because of the weight of evidence against him.

The court said Anuchit's lengthy criminal record showed he had sought to benefit himself through brutal and lawless acts, with no regard for social peace and the country's tourism image.

  4. Make all the laws that apply to foreigners in Thailand apply to Thai people in the countries foreigners have come

from. There is nothing special about Thailand...Nothing at all. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

It is no small wonder why foreign buisness many are opening up corporations in their own names with 100% ownership of all the shares. Thailand is a closed society. They want but they return nothing.

  5. Huge tax hikes on liquor and cigarettes

The Cabinet yesterday approved a drastic hike in liquor and tobacco taxes, citing a new government policy to reduce consumption and a much-needed reduction in treatment costs for those affected by drinking and smoking. Published on

The tax hike on liquor, starting today, only effects local brands while the increase in tobacco tax covers both local and imported brands.

Prices for the locally-distilled "white liquor", with an alcohol content of 28 to 40 per cent, will be increased by Bt9 to Bt12 per 0.625-litre bottle or around Bt110 per litre - up from Bt70.

The rates for blended liquors, with an alcohol content of 38 to 40 per cent, will be increased by Bt9-Bt12 per 0.625-litre bottle.

The rates for brandies and other premium brands will increase by up to Bt90 per 0.640-litre bottle.

Local cigarettes will cost an extra Bt2 per pack, while imported brands will cost an extra Bt3.

The Cabinet said it expected the tax hike would result in a reduction of 60-65 million litres of local alcohol being drunk each year and a 20 million pack decrease in cigarette use.

Reactions from the liquor industry to the tax hike were mixed. Chatchai Viratyosin, marketing manager of Singha Corporation, said: "The tax increase for white liquor is too low for what it should be, when compared to other kinds of alcoholic drinks."

He said the tax level should correspond to the degree of alcohol content. "The government should have raised the white liquor tax to Bt240 per litre, to ensure fair competition among the wider alcoholic products.

"But nevertheless, it is a good sign, since the white liquor tax hasn't been increased for at least 20 years. I can still see some sort of state protection. But public pressure is mounting."

Viroj Chantaramolee, senior vice president of Thai Beverage Marketing, said the company's senior management would meet today to discuss the implications.

Zanita Kajiji, marketing manager of Diageo Moet Hennessy (Thailand), expected the company's products and market share to be affected.

  9. If you inadvertantly have a small bottle of listerine in your carryone bag which is unsealed, or perhaps a tube of toothpaste

that you wish to use to brush your teeth with during layovers while your in route which are also sealed, make sure you if they

confiscate them at the airport, you unscrew the lid take a swig and then spit in the bottle. That way the counter people are

less likely to take them home which you know they most surely do For Free! I can just imagine that the airport authorities

must have or will have an abundant amount of sundries and other items that can be found in their homes; all of which have

been impounded without any compensation at all.

  10. I was refused in February during a stop over in Zurich on my way to Brussels to carry a bottle of whisky bought at the tax-free shop in Bangkok as hand luggage. To avoid confiscating this expensive whisky, I had to exit the airport, re-enter and re-check in (although I had a valid boarding pass already) at the counter, handing over this bottle of whisky to be separately boarded as checked-in luggage in a special bottle container. I had to pay 3 Swiss Francs but the counter refused Euro or US$. Go to the bank, exchange Euro in Swiss Francs (I only had a 5 Euro bank note), lose petty money, pay and then board the plane whilst on my way to the gate I passed a number of duty free shops in Zurich airport selling exactly the same brand of whisky as I had been refused to board.

Switzerland is not member of the EU. But when it fits their interest they adhere to EU regulations. How can their taxfree products be accepted (as safe) on board a plane to Europe whilst the same identical articles, procured in Thailand, cannot! And how will the EU now consider these tax-free products procured in Thai airport tax free shops as "safe", whilst in February they were not?

It starts to be a game for obsessed small-minded lunatics where all common sense is getting lost and only stubborn applications of un-realistic safety rules are rigorously implied. Isn't it time that all these security regulations get accepted and enforced world-wide and that the security officers in charge of the security law enforcement receive a thorough trainig in "common sense" by which also their brains from time to time have to be used?

Flying business is getting crazy and safety paranoid! I admit safety is aboslutely needed but, gentlemen in uniform with hat and braids and stripes, use common sense and see the forest in the trees! I have never seen a plane hijacked with a nail-cutter... (which you have to leave behind when security officers find it). But steel knives which are given to the passengers on bord Thai Airways for your meals are no problem!

  11. There is no doubt a need for this kind of scruitiny about containers of liquids etc.

However, tubes of toothpaste, small bottles of say listerine where the seal is unbroken, perfumes where the seal is unbroken,

are confiscated, are no doubt taken home by airport employees and their bosses.

I personally see this as stealing by Airport authorities, without due compensation of any kind what so ever under the guise

of security. It is even worse at the airport in the Philippines.

Suggestion, before they take your bottle of wine that you paid handsomely for, or your bottle of listerine, make sure you

open it and spit in it.

  12. Air carriage rule on liquid display enforced June 1

BANGKOK: -- Airports throughout Thailand on June 1 began enforcing a requirement that passengers display liquids, gels and sprays in transparent containers in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.

Journalists early Friday were led by a senior Thai Airways International (THAI) executive to inspect how airline officials apply the newly-imposed regulation setting limits for passengers to carry liquids, gels and sprays aboard their flights at Suvarnabhumi airport.

The new regulation was enforced from 00.01 am (one minute after midnight) Friday after several international carriers, especially those operating European and US routes, followed Britain's lead in adopting the measure after terrorists planned to sabotage commercial airlines departing London's Heathrow and other airports with liquid bombs aboard aircraft.

Under the terms of the regulation, passengers can carry liquid substances in containers not exceeding 100 millilitres with a total combined volume of not over one litre. Each passenger is allowed to carry only one bag of such substance.

However, passengers who purchased goods at duty free shops operated by King Power (contracted for duty free sales and other business at Suvarnabhumi), will be given a clear plastic bag for keeping both the goods they bought and the sales receipt indicating the goods they have purchased.

  13. She is free because she is Thai. The policeman that murded those British couple, he went free, and he because he is Thai and this is Thailand. My guess is there have been 1000s of cases like this, and there will no doubt 1000s more until the international media keeps getting hammered with stories like this. There are a lot of benefits about living here, but according to my list of benefits since I have been here, they do not outweigh the injustices here. And quite frankly, there are other countries other than Thailand that are indeed better in this asian region. What we have here is a kangaroo country, kangaroo laws, kangaroo police, and kangaroo courts.

  14. I feel really sorry for the old guy that finished his life that way. RIP...

Which was the point of this thread that many have lost sight of. This poor man was bashed to death. Sad and awful. Avoidable? Maybe. But lets face reality, we have all made foolish choices and stupid mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20 and its easy to look at this poor man's life and death and say he should have known better.

When the sad fact is he paid for his mistakes with his life and an awful death. Condolences to his family.

  15. Case goes to trial:

    1. wife pooh says neighbors didn't hear them arguing.

    2. they were both watching one of those violent, knock me down, shootem up bang, bang Thai soap operas. thats what the

    neighbors heard.

    3. Hubby can't testify coz he is deader than a door nail.

    4. Wifey pooh gets the car, gets the house, gets all the belongings and goes back to her old Thai lover and they live happily

    ever after.

    5. After 3 years of being together, he gets tired of her. she finds him with another thai lady. They both have a knock down,

violent fight and end up killing each other; a happy ending.

    6. The police report calls it a double suicide.

  16. John1012,

Don't commit any more funds than you must, treat life here as simply benefitting from the advantages (cheap, sunshine, girls) and able to leave without loosing too much if one day it should be necessary.

The playing field is so anti-foreigner in all apsects of financial, social, and legal life that to move even 1 nest egg more than necessary from your home countries basket to Thailand is an unnecessary step too far.

Play them at their own game, as the more you either invest or gamble here the poorer you will eventually be in 95% of cases. Be clever.....think to yourself, if I was deported tomorrow could I live comfortably back home and could I accept the financial loss on assets and savings in Thailand? if the answer is always Yes, then you have it about right.

I would strongly advise anyone to wait and see reality before going head over heels bonkers. At every bend in the road there is a new reality or hoop to jump through. Clever people don't commit to Thailand, they just play here.

    Very wise John :o

  17. Possible facts:

    1. neighbors heard yelling.

    2. wifey pooh came back for the automobile and no doubt doubt demands money

    3. Poor old hubby was no doubt murdered in his sleep after she banged him.

    Is their sufficient motive...hmmmmmmmmmmmm/

    4. Do they actually perform autopsys here?

5.Of course the way police reason based on the history of these types of cases, it must be a suicide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lets see if history repeats itself.

    2. Mrs. Bar Girl beats the piss out a farrang during a domestic argument, pulls a knife and stabbs the poor s.o.b.

He calls the police on her, and he still goes to jail, and is extorted for money from the wife, police, his attorney,

This photo is the portrait of Paul During

taken from his Thai drivers license.

71 Year Old Dane Murdered in Chiangmai

CHIANG MAI: -- A 71 year old Danish resident of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, Paul During, was on 25 May 2007 found murdered in his home.

The Dane was found by the neighbours who earlier in the day had heard him fight with a woman, possibly a former girlfriend who had apparantly come back to ask for a car, he had bought in her name.

The body of the Dane was found in his one story house in Tatan south of the city centre near the Ping River which he had rented for the past three years.

He was found naked near the door to the terrace with a broken nose and the back of his neck was swollen. There was sign of blood in the house an there was blood and hair on a walking stick, which the police has taken as evidence.

Police Officer Tennik Jansee from ChangPeuk police station in Chaingmai investigated the murdered said that there was also a hole in the door of the Dane's bedroom and the keyhole was damaged.

The Nissan pick-up truck was found parked in the garage unlock, the cabinet in the front of the car was open. The police checked the license and the car belongs to Anong Chaiyawut, 52 years from Chiangmai.

According to neighbors the Dane has been living in this house for about three years with Anong and bought her the car. Later, Anong broke up with him and move in with another foreigner. After that, the Dane brought a woman named .June to live in the house with him. Before the incident, June had gone back to visit her birthplace and it was during her absence, that Anong came by and asked for the keys to the car. But the Dane refused to give it to her and they could hear they had a fight about this before there was suddenly silence.

The neighbor found it strange and went in to see and found the Dane lying naked on the floor, dead.

The police suspects that the Dane was murdered by the girl with whom he was fighting. Then he was hit by the stick and he fell on the ground, hit the floor with his head which caused his death. The woman then tried to find the car's key but couldn't find it so she ran away.

The investigation team has collected all the finger prints as evidence and the forensic confirms that the Dane did not die by natural cause. But the body needs to be examined in more details to determine if he was murdered or died by hitting the floor.

The police was able to bring in Anong for questioning. She denies any involvcement in the death of her ex-husband. She was later released while the police awaits the forensic report in order to be able to to make an arrest based on solid evidence.

  19. Thailand gets new cyber crime law

The chief immediate effect of the new bill will be to outlaw any attempt to get around government censors to access any of the tens of thousands of sites censored for moral or political purposes, or "to damage the country".

The government pushed the new law by saying it hopes the bill will provide an effective legal tool to fight cyber crime, including theft of data and chatroom contacts that lead to rape.

  20. Awesome work by the deputy prime minister!! 1 porno vcd!!! :D:o

The shop owner will be charged for selling copies and fake orgasms.

Then the key is to sell copies of "real-orgasms." That must be the only logical reason for charging him.

None of those people who have charged this shop owner have ever had a real orgasm. My guess is the same goes for that censorship group that censors movies here among other things. They all want to have a real

orgasm. How many hypocrits make up that board of review?
