The certificate from the embassy is not the same as the one provided by immigration but it serves the same purpose and it is accepted in Thailand. It was accepted to open a bank account and to apply for a driving license. And it was not translated into english!
And it was free. It is a document which is issued when you register at the embassy as "a national" living in a foreign country. I guess if you don't register, it might get more complicated, and certainly not free.

Hello,
My non-O visa ends just before Christmas. How is it possible to switch to visa Covid (2 months)? I am in Bangkok. Do I need to make an appointment with CW?
For family reasons, I need to stay until March, the visa Covid is only for 2 months and the extension of my non-O is outrageously expensive..
Additional question for those who know: will I need to make my first 90 day report when switching visa?

Certificate of residence issued by embassy (free). Solved everything. Could open bank account and get driving license (with non-o visa, though)

Transmission of a plane is highly unlikely, as indicated by recent research in the US. Got a link about the gym equipment being contaminated?
Research funded by.... the airline companies. No comment...

Bangkok Bank gave me a bank account in Pattaya, and my Thai gf signed as a guarantor. I live in her house.
Do you have someone in Thailand that you can trust and that trusts you?
OK, will check. So far for the bank account but you cannot get a driving license without a CR. And a driving license is an important document here, it is also a proof of your "local" identity

If the agent obtained the extension from a different Province than where you were registered as residing, then your now registered as residing in a different Province using a false address.
This is why the cost usually includes the agent submitting 90 day reports on your behalf.
Either contact the agent to obtain a C of R from the IO that issued the extension, OR, file a new TM30 at CW to formally change your address, then submit your own 90 day reports and obtain the C of R from CW.

OK, thank you. Will check first the mention on the passport

I now have a non-O (volunteer) visa, I need a certificate of residency to open a bank account and get a driving license so I can "live normally" in the country. I searched for info on internet but it seems that in Bangkok, it is possible to get one only after the first 90 day report which I obviously haven't done, because my non-o visa just started.
My embassy will not do it as it is the kind of country which doesn't give a damn about its own citizens (EU European country, non-UK).
So what can be done in that case? I have a rent lease (service apartment). Can't I just go to CW with that document?
Or do I have to wait until next year to be able to open a bank account? The certificate of residence seems an important document requested in many situations.

12 month extension for retirement requires 800,000 in a Thai bank. Or 65,000 monthly income or a combination of both.
12 month extension for married to a Thai woman requires 400,000 in a Thai bank or 40,000 monthly income.
12 month extension based on being married to a Thai man requires no financial requirements.
sorry, I should have specified non-O volunteer visa

After 60 days into your 90 days non-O visa, you can apply for the 1 year extension. Cost ฿1900. But you must meet the financial requirements.
Oh. I thought these "financial requirements" applied only to the non-o retirement visa

oki, thank you.
so complicated are these rules..

OK, so my first 90 day report will need to be done in 3 months.
Thank you very much

I switched from amnesty to non-o visa (3 months initially). do I have to do a 30 day report, it is not clear to me? until then, I was on amnesty with a tourist visa (exemption on arrival). And (2d part of my question): in 3 months, if I can extend my visa up to 1 year, will I have then to do the 30 day report (if I don't need to do it until then) ?. thanks

But I'm confused where to apply at MTT. I entered on visa exempt but now have non-O volunteer visa. Should I go to counter K like those who entered visa exempt?
