  1. Anecdotal but it's spreading in bars. If you own a bar are you going to report ATK positives within your staff or just tell them to go home and isolate. Report it or send them down the hospital and what are the consequences? Minimum the business will have to close temporarily, proper deep clean and loss of earnings. Then the questions start, were you adhering to the covid free rules, did your customers use the covid apps, where's your record of customer visits. Oh you weren't following the rules, here's a nice little fine. Plus the losing face because your bar was a covid spreader spot plus the inconvenience of the 10-14 day possible incarceration. Always said the covid rules in Thailand do not encourage reporting of positive cases unless someone is sick enough to go to a hospital or clinic. I know this type of thing happens in the UK too. UK's covid figures are under reported I'm sure, except the ones who require medical treatment. You can continue to look through those rose tinted glasses by all means but it won't change the reality on the ground.
  2. Think you may be correct. If Omicron takes off be a lot more ATK been done I think. Can't have any of those reported messing up the image. Remember Anutin said Thailand was too strong and would beat Omicron. TIT.
  3. A lot of the bars are open as restaurants all be it still effectively working like bars. Question is if they wish to close places down for covid prevention , what are they going to do. Would they effectively have to close restaurants now, as well as bars?
  4. Got a feeling it's gonna let rip in Pattaya pretty soon, hearing more and more anecdotal reports of covid but a lot going under the radar so to speak for fear of authorities and reactions, eg closing premises, fines for breaking SHA+ rules etc I suspect. Rules with a stick and no carrot encourage the cases to go unreported and hidden.
  5. I've heard it's not only soi6, if it's there it'll be everywhere.
  6. Antibiotics do jack **** against a virus. If they did then covid would not have been a problem for the world.
  7. Exactly my sentiment, if I am coming to Thailand for 3 weeks I don't want to take the risk of been incarcerated for two weeks at mine or my insurers expense.
  8. Think you'll find unless they are paying the social stamp they probably get nothing unfortunately.
  9. Agree with that, all about stigma attached and saving face/money when it comes to following the reporting rules.
  10. Daily totals reported are dropping but then they say many clusters happening and rising. Maybe there is a week's time lag from testing to entering the system?
  11. I expect it already has got going but they won't know until it's too late, whack a mole all over again. Said before with the threat of incarceration for been covid positive or a close contact does not encourage people to report infections unless they are I'll enough to need medical care.
  12. 30000 a day, never. Anutin said Thailand too strong for Omicron and would beat it.
  13. Its already in, and expect it's more widespread than the authorities know due to abysmal testing and a stick rather than carrot approach to reporting an infection. Anecdotal but I know of three friends in Thailand who are infected and expect their friends to come down with it too in the next few days.
  14. Did he test negative on his day 6? I'm sure a lot of these cases in foreigners are been picked up in Thailand.
  15. Yet the reported figures not supporting this statement. Calls into to question the validity of official figures.
  16. Unvaccinated in UK , the majority, are ending up in hospital rather than the vaccinated.
  17. If they were really interested in places violating the entertainment covid orders I think they'd be busting more than the odd place here and there. As a previous poster said, brown envelope lacking so raid to follow.
  18. So, when they done what is effectively random test they found 100+ cases at restaurant. Only 22 Omicron supposedly from the Belgian couple. The other 78 odd delta? Came from where. Couldn't have been the Belgian tourists.
  19. I believe the problem in UK now is staff shortage due to number of people isolating. Think I heard that last week the NHS had 19000 staff off either sick or isolating. The isolation has just been cut to 7 days if you test negative on day 6 and 7 with an ATK. These staff shortages will begin to affect all services at some point, public and private.
  20. Have to remember they only concentrate frequent testing on tourists, arrival, day 6. Said all along if you don't test, you won't find and the first you know about cases rising is when clusters emerge, but it's too late by then. Whack a mole, UK tried it and it just doesn't work to control it.
  21. Looks out of step these countries but then all down to testing numbers. Well known Thailand only really tests those turning up at hospital and arrivals into the kingdom. ATK probably only some reported. I suspect most people with ATK and get a positive will not report, maybe tell close friends and maybe self isolate at home if only mild symptoms. Remember if you test positive in Thailand it's more than likely 2 weeks state incarceration, not exactly a carrot to report a positive test.
  22. Problem in Thailand is the vaxxed bit or rather a lot of the vaccines given.
