If the owner is still there and interested I would at least consider Luxor Bar, soi 7......she knows the business inside out.....and might welcome some investment.....who knows??

You would want to be good.
She is as shrewd as they cum.
She would have you in a wig, make up and a dress and turning trucks in no time.

Perhaps the point he is making is that as there has been very little testing here ( by any measure), accurate figures are not available.

Couple this with the suspicion that other pre-existing conditions are accepted as the cause of death particularly amongst the elderly, when in countries which have more testing, and perhaps more rigourous procedures for medical documentation and assessing what I believe are called "comorbidities", leaving Covid 19 out of the loop. The data which Thailand is reporting may be less than accurate.

But then it occurs that maybe you appreciate that, but are trying to pick a fight?

The wonderful western countries   only started mass testing AFTER the bodies were piling up and hundreds of thousands were already infected.
They needed to have a lot of tests because they had so many cases. Every positive case required everyone who had contact with them to also be tested.

Thailand on the other hand started testing early and were the very first country to test and find a case outside of China in January 2020. It is accepted that it was already in Europe by December2019 but it went unchecked for months, and hundreds of thousands died as a result.

The tests were showing mostly negative in Thailand so the result was no need for mass tracing and tests required in other countries who botched it.

I think maybe you know that but you just wanted to Thaibash and deflect.

All the Asian countries are required to blame someone else. They care about face more than almost everything else. That's how this likely started, after all. China couldn't admit it'd made a mistake and rather kills tens of millions of people.

You will not see any Asian countries reporting on new variants that develop in their countries for this reason as well. Only non Asian countries will report on variants.

There could very well be more deadly or more contagious variants in Asian countries. And, in fact it's likely.

Sounds like you are blaming someone else for the highly contagious UK mutant strain that developed after millions in the UK were infected

That is what the OP is about. You have gone off topic a bit.

Not sure where you are getting the “tens of millions” of deaths. I have told you a thousand times before not to exaggerate.

Just like I said test and you will find the Covid cases which you said did not exist.  Nice to see I was wrong there as well, not.  MOPH still has their data base closed off for the search features we discussed as far as excess deaths, but then you like a few others could care less.  back to my research and news feeds.  TTFN

Yes, must be those 5G towers.

Yes I do believe them. The world is a very small place these days, trying to keep deaths' in the thousands quiet, even in Thailand, would be almost impossible. Facebook alone would leak the news in hours not weeks, doctors and nurses in the community would do the same, evidence of crematoria working overtime, grieving relatives in the community, you simply can't hide it.

He has been banging the same drum for months. I think he has convinced himself.

    Meanwhile back in his country.....

Of course you are correct. Impossible to hide it. Not a skerrick of evidence to back up his repeated claims.

Do you really think someone else would have stayed there during this latest outbreak, if you believe that your delusional. I normally book through Bookings.com and do not pay until the last minute, this way it provides me with an out if I need it, not that I have had to use an out before, except once and that worked fine, no charge, but with the We Travel Together app as I just found out, there is a no refund policy, that said it's a catch 22 situation, you want the 40% discount, it comes at a price, fair enough, and as I don't read Thai, my minimal loss with the 3 star hotel, but the 5 star provided me with a full refund even though we used the WTT app, so it really boils down to the hotel and how desperate they are of taking the chance of losing customers as I am sure a lot of people won't take it as well as I have.

I cancelled my farang New Year hotel booking at the last minute because of exactly the same Covid situation flare up. I didn’t want to risk a 14 day quarantine on return or risk spreading covid.

I didn’t bother demanding a refund from the hotel. It wasn’t their fault I cancelled. It would be morally wrong IMO for them to wear the loss that I caused. My decision so fair enough it was my loss.

  7. Pretty ordinary making last minute cancellations during this time of the year.

They likely would have sold those nights to someone else, and now will be empty, losing money because you changed your mind.

Hotels have had a very difficult last 12 months, people making last minute cancellations during the absolute high season for Thais traveling robs them of the chance to recover some of their losses.

Anyway, I headed South to look at Natai Beach ( NO, not the TV member ! )  ,  though the name did lead  me to look up the place.

If you are still in town and drink beer send me a PM and we can catch up for a refreshing box or two.

You sound to me the type of person who knows too much. Should be interesting. I remember reading that you had been in Thailand for 30+ years? What a great life!

LS is a 2 door even in Thailand, so no idea what the pictures are of, looks like a Kingswood badge on the guard, an LS Monaro would have a LS Monaro badge on the rear section of the guard. Oh and I actually have an HQ LS in Thailand I am restoring, but the engine and transmission are from A 92 Camaro, 350 SBC and TH700R4 auto.

    Cheers

It says Monaro in the yellow writing at the top.

it's better to have 10 people spending 40.000 baht a month then having 1 person spending 400.000 baht that way more people are making money and more families are fed .

I don’t think there is a food shortage in Thailand. Everyone gets fed.

Us high enders employ way more people than the low end who generally employ none apart from maybe a bargirl.

Every villa along Natai Beach employs at least two full time staff, the most I know of is one villa which employs 23 full time staff and the owner only visits about two weeks per year. That particular villa is never rented as a “holiday rental”.

So that one alone is “feeding 23 families” throughout the year, not just the drug habit of a bargirl for a couple of weeks.

There are no Chinese built buses in Thailand. All the bus and coaches are built in Thailand on either import engine-chassis assemblies from Europe (Volvo, Scania) or on Thai built engine-chassis assemblies (Hino, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz) There is no Chinese built buses imported into Thailand because the import taxes are too high

Don’t let facts get in the way of someone having a good Chinese bash, which only comes second to Thai bashing.

The problem is some people read the fake, completely made up stories that people post here, they believe it a go around telling other people as if it is a fact.
