  1. Rayong Green Valley, and in superb condition at the moment as dry as you can get no winter rules today. The day was lovely with a nice breeze and no too hot just a pleasant walk or drive. We had 4 groups of men and 2 groups of ladies and the Billabong players were the only people on the course. I was shown around the St Andrews course that will probably be open in december and the talk is there will be an A,B and C in conjunction with Green valley so for one nine you will play 1,2,3,4, then 14, 15, 16,17 and 18 on St Andrews then the front or back nine at Green valley now that would a great format I sincerely hope it happens. Now back to my ladies with Miss Sasicha taking 3rd spot with a fine 34 points, Miss Lynn took 2nd with 38 being narrowly beaten by Miss Porn with39 points to take the top spot.

In the men’s competition it was unbelievable the scores were just out of this world. When you score 40 points and get beaten in a count back for 3rd place you would have to consider yourself very unlucky, but that’s what happened today to Peter Thomas, Malcolm Adamson took 3rd spot with 40 points, Steve Giles played out of his skin to shoot 42 points to take second, But Jeff North had his day in the sun to score 44 points off his 11 handicap and was very unlucky not to have shot his age one birdie would have done it for the old fella 75 instead of 74 hard luck mate but still a great round of golf.

  2. Phoenix Gold and with no moose in sight I mean the drinking kind only, A drink that the boys love and the only course anywhere that does stock in all drink stops sad but hopefully a minor adjustment will fix this anomally  up in due course. The course was in great condition and as dry as a bone so from now on there will be no winter rules applied. With just three groups playing on a deserted course absolutely millionaire golf. The scoring was very good in some cases but not so good in others, Glyn Davies took second spot with a fine 34 points and Brian Chapman came out of the blocks with a great 40 points scoring a mere 17 on the front but a great 23 on the back and scored the only two of the day.

  3. The monthly scramble was held at Plutaluang golf club for a change, and with 10 teams competing we got away a little early and were given a two tee start which made for no waiting at all. The course has had a lot of rain and no carts were allowed on the fairways which made for slow going for some of us cripples. Apart from one or two greens that were a bit patchy the rest were spot on to putt on. We played North and West loops and it was heavy going under foot for most of the course and the last couple of groups got a shower on them but it didn’t last long. The scoring was exceedingly good with Sandy, Sasicha, Steve Giles and Malcolm Adamson taking 3rd spot with 61.3, which in the scribes view would have won the day but alas not to be, Gary Ritchie, Neil Decker, Ted Gardner and Chris came in with 58.1 to take 2nd place, The team of Skip Jefferies, Barry Lewis, Auke Engelkes and Stuart McKenzie came in with an unbelievable score of 57.5 which in the conditions we played in was a great score indeed. We will be back at the Navy next month for a repeat performance.

  4. Haven Consultants monthly medal today at Green Valley, and whilst the course is not in the best condition it is still a pleasure to play. We must thank Brian Chapman the CEO of Haven Consultants for his continued support for this event, it is a sought after trophy by all who play for it. There is usually somebody comes out of the woodwork and has a day in the sun and today was no exception, but to the ladies first. Now the girls normally tear this course apart but not today Miss Thip scored a net 73 to take 3rd spot Miss Noodle took 2nd with 72 net and got the only two of the day, but Miss Lynn scored a net 71 to take the Haven Trophy.
In the men’s division Eddy Beilby managed to take 3rd spot being beaten on a count back by his good friend Peter LeNoury both scoring 67 net, and the winner by a country mile Peter Thomas had 85 off the stick off his 22 handicap to have a net 63 a great round of golf mate well done. There were 6 two’s coming from Arch Armstrong, Peter Thomas, Vic Hester, Roger Emery and Leo Satanove got the other 2.
