  1. I hope you are being sarcastic. Thai tour guides barely speak any English and you expect them to learn Russian? Learning a language is a lifelong endeavor. Nobody is doing that to become a tour guide. I went on an island tour recently and the tour guide told amazing stories about the islands to the Thai group but in English we were only told about the itinerary and the lunch menu, because his English was so limited.
  2. Exactly. Tour guides in every other country are from the same nationality as the tourists they are guiding. How many Thais speak Russian? Authorities are just killing economic activity. The tour guide may not be Thai but he would spend all his money in the Thai economy. But now there will be no tour and tourists will just take their money back home. But glad that the Russian speaking Thai tour guides were protected. Laws like this are the reason why Thailand is poor.
  3. Yep, I can't believe I'm still reading about this over one year later. The doctor was sitting on the stairs of his property. He was egged on by his Thai wife to get her out. He shouldn't have kicked and later apologized. The doctor seems determined to get him deported over this minor offence. The man has a family in Thailand and owns a business that employs many locals. Time to let it go.
  4. Hi everyone, I recently signed a one-year teaching contract with a school, with a start date set for June. However, I’m now considering another opportunity at a different school. If I decide to back out of the contract before the start date, what are the potential consequences?
  5. Not smart. The problem is that Thais have terrible language skills and can't provide those services. Foreign tour guides would likely attract wealthy tourists and not the cheap rabble that they currently attract.
  6. Nobody going to mention that the driver just casually sped away after hiting the motorbike? Hit and run should land them in jail for a long time.
  7. Only David William seems to be outraged. This article was written by foreigners and they only interviewed foreigners. Comments are turned off for all the Apple videos by the way.
  8. Fully automated immigration checkpoint at international arrivals would be wild.
  9. Thai authorities should be rewarding this man, instead of putting him in jail. He is providing a valuable service to tourists that locals are obviously failing to do.
  10. Open question? I need to show tax returns every year to renew my work visa. The enforcement you're looking for will be a visa denied.
  11. Thai immigration dropped the ball. They let this guy in with somebody else's passport and kept renewing his visa for 27 years.
  12. Shouldn't matter what anybody looks like. Hit a cop, go to jail.
  13. Yeah, I don't see how scrutinizing passports harder will help. Nothing in the passport can red flag someone as likely to punch a cop.
