Except maybe these posts will be filled more frequently with career diplomats instead of political appointees.

Now, Prayuth is so obsessed with the optics of this thing, he is blinded from doing the right thing. Samut should have been locked down like San Quentin, from day one. That is WHY it spread so quickly. Dumb and dumber.
Will this nation ever have qualified leaders and ministers? Or is it doomed to mediocrity, or worse, for all time?
Still can’t beat the good ole president of the US. Now there is a piece of work.

Um, yep, that's what happens when you let a virus run free, soon soon it will be all 77 provinces due to an inept government not wanting to lose face.
Oh you mean like most countries around the world.

Maybe an idea to open up should include
the recently announced Holland Model.
1 test before your flight. 1 test on arrival.
If no positive ... good to go ... no quarantine.- 2

Are you just planning a "boring" lay on the beach/by the pool trip, or has your research shown enough businesses open to enjoy the food, some nightlife and activities (like Phi Phi, James Bond Island, snorkeling, etc)? It's the GF's birthday and want to go, but we like some level of activity. Went to Chiang Mai and it was depressing until we found the university area, which was bustling.
Lots of site seeing and adventure stuff to check out and open such as Khao Sok national park and yes even JB island. Some companies on certain days still are doing Similan Islands also and with the lack of tourists the time has never been better to see some of these places. I just went on a tour of PhangNga with the wife and friends... it was awesome.

Nice timing, hit them up while they are still recovering from the lost income during lockdowns.
How about just starting with clean toilets, soap and maybe something sanitary to dry my hands with besides my shirt. Or not! Think about it the next time you pick up that bottle or container of condiments that never get cleaned.
If this basic standard cannot be met for the customers... you can imagine the kitchens.

I have always wondered how the “new normal” education and policies are being introduced to businesses catering to foreigners. I can still go into restaurants where none of the condiments have been cleaned for what seems like ... ever. Also where is the soap and sanitary towels for washing and drying your hands. Where is the New Normal standards in mainstream businesses. Just saying.

Pattaya: Foreigner "mercilessly" attacked with repeated kicks to the face in Walking Street

Not trying to minimize what happened to the foreigner, but drunken’ tourists can no doubt be the cause of many issues. I agree with the quote “ what was said that lit the taxi guy up while they were sitting together?
