  1. Was at Fuji Big C Extra today around 1pm. No question about vax status or whether the people I were with were family. Great service and food as always. OP - Which Fuji restaurant are you talking about? I believe there are at least 4 in Pattaya.....
  2. There are plenty of vets in Pattaya who will euthanize a dog (I have many dogs and have had to use this option several times over the years); however your dog is only 5 years old and does not have any terminal illness. I don't think there will be many vets willing to put a dog down because you personally can no longer take care of the dog. Huskies are a hardy breed and can easily live to 13 or 14 or 15+ years. So 5 years old is not even senior for a husky. Your son is 14 years old...surely he can man up and shoulder the responsibility for caring for a child hood pet? If it comes to it then maybe a link it to his allowance each month? Could be good training for him to fulfill duties Did he not know the dog for 5 years of his childhood years? Regardless of the personal situation at home (maybe your son didn't live with you and Moneydog) you may very well find a kind-hearted resident who will happily take in Moneydog and enjoy the next 6+ years with him. I've always had dogs - several at a time, but I've always been prepared to re-home them if I had to leave (hasn't happened yet!). Because of this it is ESSENTIAL to train your dogs and keep them very healthy. It is MUCH easier to re-home a well trained dog than a dog who will not even obey the basic commands. Keeping dogs healthy and in shape (not fat) will help if the time ever came to re-home them. On the bright side for you, I think if you start a thread asking for someone to adopt your dog (put on bahtsold too) I'm sure you will get a response. I once (a couple of years ago) had to re-home a male dog (I only take in females). Someone had dumped him at my gate, probably knowing I had so many dogs already. I put an advert on here and I had several responses. He ended up living with a great guy here in Pattaya. The time to plan for Moneydogs funeral is not now. It's time for you to get serious about re-homing him. Good luck to you and to Moneydog!
  3. According to the Bangkok Post (July 16th) new visa categories have been approved in principle (in June). Nothing is officially out yet but it appears good moves are being made to allow some foreigners long-stay visas if they invest in land and property (or govt bonds). According to Mr Supattanapong, the Centre for Economic Situation Administration (CESA) approved in principle on June 4 a scheme to offer long-stay visas to four groups of foreigners -- rich global citizens, wealthy retirees, rich professionals working in Thailand, and highly skilled professionals. These groups will be entitled to a visa of up to 10 years and have the ability to own land and property. "Rich global citizens" has no age restrictions but this group is required to invest at least US$500,000 (16.35 million baht) in government bonds, property or foreign direct investment. They must also have at least $80,000 in income over the last two years and $1 million in assets. Meanwhile, wealthy retirees are required to be 50 or over and have an annual income of $40,000 and invest $250,000 in government bonds or real estate. For professionals interested in working from Thailand, which includes individuals who work remotely or employees of large companies that are close to retirement, they must have $40,000 per year in income with an educational background of a master's degree or higher or rights in intellectual property and have five years experience in research. Experts in digital services are required to work for SET-listed companies or work for at least three years in private companies which have an income of more than $50 million a year. High-skilled professionals with no age limits are required to work in target industries or academic experts in universities or state agencies.
  4. Every couple of years we get a new vision produced for Pattaya beach, some nice computer generated images and an allocation of a squillion or two baht...and so here we are again. Personally I liked the plan about a decade ago which was to make beach Rd/second Rd a one way system and to have free of charge tourist buses doing the loop all day and night to make it easy for everyone to get around. I guess the Baht bus mafia won that one. We still got the one way roads though which has helped massively. Long time expats can be forgiven for not getting enthused by yet another Pattaya beach revamp vision.
  5. There are a few walk-in labs around Pattaya where you can get blood tests done easily and cheaply without the hassle of checking in with the hospital. I use the one on 3rd road called MT Lab (opposite Tony's gym). It's a great facility to easily check your blood for cholesterol, blood sugar etc. In and out in minutes and they often send the results in just a few hours even though they say it will be the next day.
  6. I don't know a diabetes clinic other than the BPH centre that Jacko45 mentioned above. It may help to post whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes as care and treatment will be different. For type 2 it will mainly be about nutrition and lifestyle changes which can send you into more than one specialist areas to really make a big difference and move you out of diabetes. Type 1 of course will be purely medical/chemical treatment (as far as I know). If you are dealing with type 2 then perhaps widen your internet search to include functional doctors, nutritionists, fitness trainers etc. Good luck Mr. Jumbo68
  7. Just got back from Jomtien beach. Lots of people around sitting on the wall, on the beach, in the sea, people with dogs, lots of walkers. I had the impression it would be all closed off as I had heard the news but not visited. 5;30pm this evening it was very lively.
  8. Same here. Contacted Bumrungrad directly and asked for an appointment. They sent a short questionnaire and they gave an appointment for 3 days later with a choice of Pfizer or AstraZeneca. My family have used Bumrungrad for years. Day of vax all went very smoothly and quickly. Amazing organising process.
  9. Covid Lockdown means our kids are stuck at home learning online alone - no matter which school they go to. At this time we are allowed to visit each other's home, but not in large numbers (groups of 5). My child is 12 and learning online. I'm inviting other students (age 11-13) to come and study alongside her albeit with their own curriculum/school programme. We can do weekly antigen testing to remain as safe as possible from Covid. Each pod can only be a max of 5, but we can have different pods on different days in different homes if there are larger numbers. This is not a business or a school, just a self-organising community project. Please don't DM here, just message or call Sarah: 0806 33 00 70
