  1. it is great to be able to ask the British Embassy a question on Thai Visa Forum.

I wanted to ask the same question about vaccines too.

This probably is not a consular issue but are there any plans for the British government via the British Embassy to offer a COVID-19 vaccine to brits in Thailand?

(i guess not but wanted to ask anyway)

  2. Sorry,  i should say that Ekkamai to me seemed to be a good mix of reasonably priced rent and easy commute to downtown, while also having lots of stuff within the neighbourhood.

I am not interested to live downtown but want to be able to easily get to and from when required.

    thank you

  3. A decade ago I worked in Singapore for 18 months, i would be interested to hear from anyone who has lived in Singapore and Bangkok and the comparisons of both.

I liked the efficiency of singapore and its cleanliness. It was a very smart place. But over time that grew a little stale - and expensive!

But am I thinking Bangkok might be too much the other way??

I've visited many different spots in Bangkok and I would say it's safe at any time of the day and night.

Not dangerous at all if you behave like a sane person, stay away from drugs, don't trust strangers and don't start arguments.

yes my thoughts too and true for most of thailand

  5. after all the good replies to my other question ; https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1197897-how-much-money-do-you-need-to-live-comfortably-in-bangkok/who

For people live there do you ever feel in danger in Bangkok?

My opinion generally is that Thailand is very safe for foreigners and crime against foreigners is actually quite rare.

Sure, the roads are dangerous etc but on the whole it is pretty safe.

    Is Bangkok a dangerous city?

Hops Brew House on Beach Road is worth a visit. They brew a very nice Bavarian-style weissbier and a pilsener on the premises. I'd imagine it'll be quiet but the place has a nice atmosphere and the menu is pretty good too.

i have been told about hops and will check it out, thanks for the tip

although I am debating the whole trip now in case of lockdown etc

You are good to go and welcome to Bangkok.

I would recommend you to live central or at least in the area your prefer to frequent.

Chitlom is a good choice and yes, you can find 15k condos around 60 m2 in the center.

You will soon discover Bangkok is full of good deals, like eating at 50% through apps like eatigo.

yes a friend already recommended Chitlom

If you cannot live comfortable in your country now, how can you get more comfortable in Thailand ?? ,since living cost in your current country should be much more expensive than in Thailand.

not sure what your reply has to do with my question. but as you asked, i can perfectly afford to live in my country but choose to live in Thailand.

Best of luck. Some good restaurants remain but in general the place is Dead. Just look at the many Vlogs on Y/Tube if you want some idea of how it is. I would say it's a ghost town but that's in insult to Ghosts. I have just come back from Pattaya went for a Birthday bash. We booked for 3 nights left after 36 hours. That'll give you some idea of how good/lively it is.

    oh no.

I was hoping it would be quiet but not 'dead'

  10. Lived in Phuket for 4 years but want a change of scenery.

I want to try Bangkok for 1 year.

Speaking to friends they said they thought Bangkok was more expensive than Phuket

I disagreed and think I could live there for the same amount as I spend now.

    15,000 rent
    4,000 bills, internet, water, electric
    15,000 eating out, nights out
    2,000 transport??

I am sure there are other costs too.

I spend between 40 and 50k per month now.

I already have health insurance and money in the bank for visa set aside.

  11. So my plans might change depending on the virus, but I plan to head to Pattaya in early January.

    Will probably take the girlfriend.

    I’m looking for recommendations on:

    - what is the absolute best restaurant in Pattaya, higher end/fine dining (if possible)

    - Best place for an English breakfast?

    - Best place for selection of beers (I like imported/craft beers)

    - Good day time activity to take the girlfriend and her niece

I'll be staying at the Dusit Thani but I have a car so transport is not a problem.

    Thank you
