  1. the bigger the country, the grater the ignorance....

how many of you know slovenia?

even thouhgh slovenia was presidenting EU this year..... it is not just thai.... if i go to sweden for example they know shit about slovenia, if i meet somebody from an x country somewhere in the world there is a chance smaler then 0.00001% that he or she knows slo.... but to stay on the topic about thailand...more thais that i met have actually known slovenia then foreigners....

so please stop this thailand bashing... we are not the same.

and every school system is the same.... the country where you live is the center of the world, especialy the english speaking crowd. Ask some native english speaker how many languages can he speak. many many thais speak at least english.... so this is two.

    just my opinion.....

  2. well, my experiences are positive! I have met 2 girls on the web. we have ben talking over msn for about 6 months before i came to thailand. met there both of them and they turned out to be even more cool then on the web. i have to tell though that i never considered any of them as my gf. I told them this also and they were okay with it, well at least they said it.

so maybe it would be smart to use sites like hi5 is not exactly a dating website but is cool!

  3. Take care when buying your converter. You should check the power of it. You must check what power it is and many companies give their power in in S[VA] which is usually not equal to P[W]. you should get your converter with more power because mathematically S=P+Q. and if you take a converter which is too small you will overload it....

Power transformers are are all stated with MVA and the actual power supply in Watts is lower because of the nature of the user(R L and cos(fi)).

Have some problems when writing technical stuff in English, but i hope I you know what i meant.

  4. For those of you who think Thailand has no internal knowledge, thai students have proven you wrong! They won on one of the biggest IT and computer science contest in the world, the microsoft sponsored Imagine Cup.

Congratulations to them! They had good competiton from over 100 countries including the host South Korea, Japan, Serbia, Japan, Russia,......

They had the best sollution for the topic....

  5. short answer: ASAP

    long answer:

I'm currently 1 1/2 years away from my diploma, but because i had a stipendium i have to work for that company for about 5 years, but hope i can leave after 2 years...! Then i wil try to make a bit of financial stability and maybe an MBA! for about 3 years... This is now about 6 years! so the fastest i will move to thailand is 2012/13! It would be great if i can make it sooner!

I just hope i could get a job when i'm there!

But in the meantime i will visit as much as possible!

Well i visited thailand only once but from the day i left don muang i felt like i came home! So it was kinda hard to leave the country and go home....now i'm doing anything possible to come back asap!

I heard that it is hard to get a job as an electrical engineer, because they want thai ppl in this industry.... hope i find something....

  6. Why do native-english speakers feel so supreme?

Why not tell ppl who are interested in other langugaes some words?

why are Thai ppl so slim, when theyy eat 5 meals per day, and why farangs are not, when they eat only 2-3 meals per day?

why cant i just go and fly to LOS? (ok this has an answer but although i think everyyday bout this one)

Its funny how you can answer some questions and you still reply to OP :o

  7. The Four Faced Buddha which is popular in Thailand seems to be the Hindu god, Brahma? May I right to say it? There are lotsa worshippers and a famous shrine(Erawan Shrine) is located in Bangkok.

So there is a mixture of Hindu gods into Thai Buddhism?

By the way, people pray to Brahma for health and safety?

It is a Buddha - known in Thai as "Phra Pom Si Nah"

or the 4 faced buddha popular in many SE Asian countries

No not a four-faced Buddha, not a Buddha at all. Brahma, Hinduism's creator god. Rarely seen in shrines in India, only became popular in Thailand (from what I've been told at least) after the building of the Brahma shrine next to the Erawan Hotel (which later gave way to the Grand Hyatt Erawan).

here is the explanation why the shrine was built: erawan shrine

  8. as far as my personal researches found out this must be brahma! One of the Hindu trininty! I also found out that budhism is closely related to hinduism this goes especially for Thailand! You see a lot budhist wearing deities that origin in hinduism! Also there are a lot of budha statues with naga head around buddhas head! There is many more evidence that there is a lot of mixture! Shiva is also quiete often seen! and the elephant headed deity Ganesha! There are also a lot more! Vishnu.... And the monkey from national emblem Hanuman! It is also a deity from hindu!

And if you look at the national Thai book, i believe it is called Ramakiyen, it is a version of Indian Ramayana! I havent been long in thailand, also i'm very young, but i have seen that if you know this story you are quite familiar with thai culture! So i think thai budhism is a mixture with hinduism!

Also bushism has his origins in hinduism!

thats why i feel so related to thai budhism! It is very open to everything!

Thats what i found out, maybe some mistakes (hope not)

    :o
