It's not only UK citizens. THB has climbed against most currencies,
Yes but that letter will only concern british citizens, UK is starting to forget their expats.
Currency is another issue and not specific to UK, I agree.

deposit our hard earned money into an incompetent Thai banking system
Why incompetent ? Have you seen their interest rates ? They are not so bad at all.
And about currency, do you think it's better to hold your hard saved money in £ or in Bahts ?

To counter that nazi british government, Thailand should offer citizenship to all UK expats that accept to transfer all their funds to Thailand ! ????

Exactly its worse for us with family here... Theresa May probably ordered it (she probably thought we haven't broke up enough foreign spouse families recently what can we do)
I feel really for british expats, that may concern only british citizens only because of your NAZI government: brexit and now they clearly show that they dont really care about their expats ????

The french embassy didn't verify anything at all, I wont be surpised that they will follow the english embassy.
I'm not yet 50 yo, but I know many retired farangs from all nationalities that don't have 65,000 bahts/month and 800,000 bahts in their than bank account.
Without that (illegal) loophole, that might be a real issue now for them.
Sometime I dont understand the thai immigration, those retired farangs are living in Thailand for at least 5-10 years and never caused any trouble in the country. Why immigration doesn't ask them something easy to provide ? If you are living more than 5-7 years in Thailand, immigration should treat them as residents and shouldn't ask anything about their revenues. If you are already living for more than 5 years, you know how to manage your budget/money, thai notes are no more Monopoly notes.

If the reason for the change is to enforce the Immigration Act, which stipulates 'Touring' at 90 days maximum, then it is possible that the extension of 30 days to the inital visa will no longer be automatic, and further that {30 day stamp} runs may be subject to review if you have a tourist visa in your passport, or vice versa.
I interpret the new application:
http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/2notice/newpro.html
The 90 days limit in 6 month concerns the VOA, not the visas obtained in foreign ambassies.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it may be a solution...
There are other solutions: go back to your contry and get a triple entries visa, or a non-immigrant visa... All those solutions will cost more money than a VR to Cambodia for 2.000 bahts.
If they want to stop illegal workers, this solution is not too bad !
-
But if you can do this and also get back to back Tourist visas then does it not make a whole mockery of what this 'supposed' clampdown is about (i.e: stopping illegal workers)?
Many illegal workers won't be able to pay a trip to Malaysia !
99% of the farang communauty won't be concerned...

Q) Do the 90 days permitted in a 6 month period only apply to visa exemptions?
e.g. In a 6 month period could you have 90 days using 3 x 30 VOE and then 90 days using a single entry tourist visa (60 + 30)?
Yes you will be able to do that !
Trip do Penang for a single entry tourist visa = 12.000 bahts
3 VR to Cambodia = 6.000 bahts
It will cost you only 1.000 bahts more per month... not a big deal !

Thai immigration should promote that citizenship (I always thought that was impossible to obtain ?).
That would be a logic process for people like me (and we are so many!), I'm living in Thailand for 15 years, maried for 10 years and dont plan to go back to Europe.
