Basically just for sex tourists with thousands of prostitutes and not a very pleasant place with poor beaches, horrible traffic and no real town planning as it developed, so quite unattractive.

Initially thats what attracted me,well the first bit???? and  after 12 years what made me move to hua hin 5 years ago,no regrets.

You can hardly blame the Thai tourist industry for wanting to get back on its feet again.  Chinese tourists are essential for this.  Covid will spread, and is already being spread, and will continue to spread.  "Zero Covid" has already been shown to be unworkable.  There's really no excuse for people in Thailand not to be fully vaccinated.

Id say the thai tourist industry at the moment is doing just fine getting back on its feet without them so they are not essential,no excuse for thais to not be fully vaccinated, unless they dont want to be,keep them out i say.

I would not say condo, however, it is possible to rent rooms in outer suburbs such as San Kamphaeng or Doi Saket for that amount.

If I chose to rent out my fully furnished condo in Chiang Rai ( with swimming pool ) the current market is 6500 - 7000 baht/month. One can pay anything between 10K and 30K for a condo in CM, depending on size and luxury level.

If I was to dispense with my GF and her support, my own budget would be about 30,000 baht/month, which is about three-fifths what I get as an Australian pension. Not that I wish to.

I remember an American in CM who was really skint, living on about 8000 baht/month. He claimed he got most of his protein by licking up ants from the floor.

    I agree.

Thailand's bar prices have become ridiculous.

A beer costs as much as a McChicken set.

A lady drink costs as much as a month of 5G mobile internet.

A BF costs as much as a VIP bus from Hua Hin to Phuket.

For more than that, it will cost you as much as an AirAsia ticket to Singapore ( or even further).

No one is forcing you to enter gogo bars ????.

You're really showing your age, lack of wisdom as well as a basic understanding of logic with that argument. I can guarantee you that all of those hard drug criminals started with alcohol or cigarettes or coffee or tea or chocolates... I could go on but it's such a silly argument that I can't believe that there are people around who still buy into it. And what about the people who've managed to come off hard drugs because of cannabis?

Im neither for or against it ,had my fair share of it in years gone by,but do agree with the majority on hard drugs do start of with cannabis, most if not all of the druggies in my hometown certainly did,and some of my friends too who are no longer living because of hard drugs.

They used to have street in amsterdam called needle alleyway, its now really a tourist walkthrough with shops ect but in the 90s it was full of smackheads hitting up openly, not a coincidence they started using hard drugs in amsterdam the worlds tokers heaven.

Are these buses picking up passengers from BKK Arrivals Terminal when returning to Hua Hin? Is there a published time table?

Yes they do,it used to be around every 2 or 3 hours to hua hin,,agree with what others have said,i used this service almost every other month for a few years, much more comfortable than the buses to pattaya, regarding the "expensive price" someone mentioned...could always get the train from bang sue in bkk,,its also not a bad journey but longer about 5 hours, very cheap tho.

They are stopping people at the dolphin circle on bicycles, motorbikes, walking without masks and appear to be writing citations.  3 to 4 cops.  I have seen some cars pulled over there also but not sure the reason.   Crossy's post makes sense and seems the best precaution.

Its nice to know they havent lost there pitch at the dolphin, cant see it being as big an earner pre covid tho,to answer the op i dont wear my mask in the car bike or when im jogging along the beach.

I thought I should update you guys on what happened.

Even though both the Smart-Visa unit case handler and an actual  immigration officer at the front desk of information for the Chimchurii Square OSS building BOTH told us to go to Chaengwatthana despite us making it crystal clear that  we live in Nothanburi (my Thai GF speaking thai to the officer) they told us to go to Chaengwatthana as “that’s the only place they do covid extensions now”.

How we on Thaivisa can know more about the extension processes than someone who’s actual job it is to know this stuff is both baffling and infuriating.

Luckily wasting time at Chaengwattana didn’t take that long (other than two long taxi rides each way) since there was a different booth to handle business type visas. What made me mad was the female officer and her little buddy there being shockingly rude to my GF, waving her finger around with an attitude and having a total power trip telling us to get lost and go to Nothanburi in Thai.

At Nothanburi, they were the least busy I've ever seen them and I noted markedly higher spirits, good vibes and comradery among the immigration officers. Still an idiotic processes ensued similar to what I experienced at the beginning of the pandemic. After 2 hours they took my 1900 baht and  stamped me for “Under consideration by the Nothanburi Immigration” with an appointment to come back two weeks later on the day my smart-visa would expire (with zero assurance of an extension).

Regarding the extension, they counted from the day I went to immigration instead of the day my smart-visa would expires (more than 2 weeks into the future). Essentially, I was penalized for going in earlier, they literally subtracted 15+ days off the 60 day extension I paid for.  How does that encourage people to come in earlier rather than waiting until the last minute of their visa? It does just the opposite in fact.

So in summary, I paid money to get zero assurance of an extension, with an appointment to return on the day of expiration for another bloated time-wasting process. This is two-fold oof since it forces crowding at the immigration office by making people queue twice for one extension while giving them no time to plan their life. How smart is that?

Anyway I got my 1900 baht “extension.” Lucky the process wasn’t worse I suppose.  But because of my experience I'd have to recommend going in the last few days of your visa instead of earlier or you'll lose a lot of the "60-days" they promise. Crowding is entirely their own fault due to their bloated thoughtless 2-day extension process.

Hi,they actually have given themselves more work aswell ! pretty silly process, glad you got there in the end, pity about the -15 days tho crazy !..,im just about to do the same,my visa runs out 2nd june so im glad i read this as probably to early to apply now,did you take any other docs with you or just passport ?
