  1. I went today to immigration to apply for the 60-day covid extension (my current extension expires July 4) and they gave me a 1 month under consideration stamp, I must come back to the same office in a month from now to ( I guess ) get the extra 30 days.

My understanding was that the "under consideration" stamp was just generally a few days, or a week, but not a whole month. Anyone else had a similar experience? I assume I have to go to the same province/office and I can't go to a different one.

I would try the revenue department first and see what they need.  A TM-30 might be sufficient, or they may ask for a Certificate of Residence from immigration.

As an update, finally they did not ask for anything residence-related, just asked for my current address and a phone number. I guess this varies wildly depending of the bureaucrat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How and where to apply for a Tax Identification Number, Any special requirements to meet. Do I require a TIN for claiming back bank fixed interest ? Up Ubon area, sent the missus to the local joint and they told her It can't be claimed.

I successfully applied and got my Tax ID a few days ago, in Bangkok. I just had to show them some justification of why I need a Tax ID, in my case I told them last year I was here more than 6 months ( despite being on a Tourist visa ) and that the bank withhold taxes over my capital interest so I'd like to get them refunded.  I just showed them the paper from the bank (this took 2 weeks for the bank to "prepare the specific document" that shows tax witheld ), and that was it.

The lady made some copies of my passport, gave me a paper with my name, tax ID, and some signatures and stamps, and asked me to registry online in 2-3 days as they need time to enter the data in the system before I can ask for the refund or file anything.

  4. I was convinced that you had to always do the 90 day report (TM47) no matter the type of visa you hold. I went today to Chaeng Wattana to get the 60-day covid extension (unrelated but they extended from the day I showed up in immigration, not from my visa expiration, so I lost a week) for my TR visa, and after this I headed to Muang Thong Thani with all the paperwork for the 90 day report.

The ladies that checks all the paperwork is correct and give the queue numbers shush me away with "tourist visa no need 90 day report".

Is this correct? Bureucrats here have fuc*d me up a few times in the past with incorrect information, so I wouldn't be surprised.

  5. I submitted my TR 60-day covid extension last week in Bangkok (with its TM30 screenshot that shows my current address) and I got a "permission of stay is under consideration" to go back next week (May 12th).

I assume now I just have to go, drop off my passport, and the extension will be given, however I'm changing hotels this weekend so I wonder if this will affect the visa extension when the new hotel submits the new TM30?

Not sure if they will check the TM30 address again in their system next week and this discrepancy will affect my extension? Any idea or experience?

Thank you for the clarification Ubonjoe. How about the required documents. Some say TM30 is required and some say it is not. Has anyone done the COVID extension recently and can clarify? Thank you.

I went this last Thursday and I got specifically asked for the TM30, luckily I went prepared and brought it. I also brought with me an airline cancelation ticket that shows that indeed my flight was cancelled and while this was not specifically asked, they kept the paper with the affidavit stating the reason.

If you entered with a tourist visa issued by a embassy or consulate the 60 day covid extension would be applied for at Chaeng Wattana desk J.

All others are applied for at desk K at MTT.

I think you probably entered visa exempt that allowed a 30 day permit to stay not a VOA that only allows a 15 day entry.

Thanks, so for my first upcoming covid extension, having entered with a TR-60, I should show up with all paperwork in desk J at MTT, building B. Correct?

Is crazy how they keep changing all this stuff so often.

  8. An update: It was painless and the whole thing took 30 minutes.

I arrived to immigration at 8:30 just by doors opening and there was quite the queue already, but was moving pretty fast. Inside the info lady gave me a copy of TM7 and a TM30, as well as a number for counter 10 for filling the TM30.

In counter 10 the lady checked the hotel reservation and the "checkin" paper they gave me and just told me to fill the TM30 with my details (yep, I'm allowing myself to stay in a property that is not mine), and then she just did the TM30 manually and handed me a copy. They keep all the bunch of papers, possibly to record it in the system sometime later today, there was more people there with the same problem.

They sent me over to do copies of everything, and gave me another number for counter 1. There I gave them the papers, paid the 1.900THB, and 2 minutes later I was out with my passport stamped.

  9. My visa will expire next week, as it will be closed during weekend + songkran I will go tomorrow to extend it. In preparation I asked for my hotel for the TM30 and they just gave me a TM30 form (unfilled), a receipt of my payment, and the card of the hotel manager with a contact number. Despite asking multiple times the online printout copy, they do not understand or just shush me away.

What can I expect tomorrow when going to immigration to ask for a 30-day normal extension on my 60-day TR visa? I've never done it so I'm foreseeing a denial to extend, or a "fee" to solve the problem. My last stay was in Bangkok.

Anything in particular I can ask to the hotel folks (in Thai if possible) to get this print-out? Is this even required for the 30-day normal extension? I don't recall tourists having problems with this at any point.

The docs you mention are only requested for those who entered with the STV.  The OP stated they entered on a TR, so they are not likely to need these docs.

That's interesting, thanks. I entered with TR as well but the documents were full of typos and mistakes so I'm waiting for new ones, I was freaking out a bit with the timing as I though were necessary for all new entries in the country since the covid situation started.

I’m flying out in a few hours, i had to get another PCR test last minute because Etihad changed their policy and said test must be within 72 hours of flying even though Thailand wants results within 72 hours

airport 1 hour RT-PCR test charged me $399, what a racket

Always has been a PCR within 72h before your departure flight.

I just got my COE email to download, they have my transit date wrong, i hope it doesn’t matter

i fly JFK to AUH on 5th then 9 hour layover and fly out AUH at 3am for BKK on 7th and they show my departure date as 5th and transit date as 5th instead of 7th and arrival as 7th which is correct

I guess mine is wrong as well but not really sure how important that is:

Departure 10th, transit 23:50PM on 10th till 02:00AM on 11th, arrival 11th. The COE says transit is on 10th, I guess doesn't matter much as long as the departure, arrival, and flight numbers are correct, as any airline delay would change everything.
