Just move on. We had a similar situation. Even got the Bangkok Bank account the scammers were using for the victims to transfer the ‘duty’ for the parcel to be cleared. Found bank account owner’s Facebook and pictures of her with the African dudes. Contacted the Cybercrime Suppression unit who said since the woman had sent no money there was no crime to pursue. Eventual a YouTube video describing the scam with a phone number of some police officer to report to was found. Not worth the hassle to report to police who don’t want to hear about it.

Thanks for the great advice. Interview was Friday. 15 minutes. Lots of papers showing proof and plans were ready, nothing was shown. After 15 minutes she was told that everything is ok and the passport would be delivered to the post office. She mentioned that she was flying today which meant Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... they said it should be fine. Today she intercepted the passport at the post office where the embassy sends from, before it was sent to the post office where it should be picked up. 10 year visa and made her plane. I'm in shock as all the tales of woe say that nothing about her situation should have enabled her to get approved at all. But here she is approved for a 10 year visa on the first shot.
Thanks for all the great advice!

Thanks. The interview is on a Friday and she flies out on Wednesday. She will pick her passport up at the post office assuming all goes well. Still seems like we are cutting it too close.

My wife and I made the drive from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai for her visa interview on 29-02-2016.
Thanks for the great post. My gf is from the north but currently living with me in Singapore where she is studying. We are setting up an interview in Chiang Mai but will need her to get her passport back in order to return to Singapore. With that in mind, how long did it take for your wife to get her passport back after the approval?

I have some furniture that I would like to ship from Bangkok to Singapore. It comes to about 3 cubic meters. DHL has quoted me THB 20K. Does anyone know of any companies that may be cheaper?

A friend gifted me a non-functioning Easy Dict Multimedia Color Dictionary MP-9000. When plugged in it appears to be taking a charge as the light is orange. But the power button doesn't turn it on. Any ideas on how/where to repair?

How much was it and where did you get it?

OMG! i'm going to be in BKK on sunday night, anyone know where i can watch the eagles/giants game at 1am monday morning? any hotels with ASN? sport bars open late until 4am? HELP! huge game!!
The Four Points on Soi 15 apparently has all the sports channels and ASN on their in-room TVs. They can show the game in Beer Vault but I'm not sure what time they close.

Where can I catch the Steelers vs Ravens on Monday, Dec 6 at 8:15AM?
This game will be shown on TRUEvisions, both TrueSport 3 and ASN, as will the Jets v. Pats on the following (Tue. 7 Dec.) morning.
The Tavern on Sukhumvit Soi 4 is open for SNF and MNF, although it is a bit of cramped space.
Thanks! The Westin will show the game in the Zest bar, albeit without sound. I guess I'll schlep the laptop down and listen to streaming audio.

If I were to organize showing the game at the new 4 Points, is there anyone else that would be interested in coming?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll call the first place to inquire about the closing time challenge.

Anyone know where it is possible to see the Pittsburgh-Baltimore game tonight? Looks like ASN is carrying it but my hotel doesn't carry ASN.
Ideally around Asoke.

Level 3 parking lot of Emporium, at the back near the lifts. Not quick but quality.
Thanks for the tip. I dropped the shorts off today. It will cost 200 baht and the turnaround is really a week.
BTW it is on the B2 level. I searched the parking area on level 3 to no avail. Thanks again!

just keep in mind two things as I said before, they are not quick and not cheap: but there is no better place I found in the city for hemming pants and such.
I don't need quick. One week turnaround would be fine. As for cheap? Are we talking closer to 200 or 2000 baht?

Actually a female companion I was traveling with this week felt I was being too cautious about them. She felt nobody was looking down there anyway.
Unfortunately I stay at a hotel not a condo, so my local neighborhood is a challenge. Too many tailors around. The Emporium is a perfect option for me though. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a place that will replace the zipper on a pair of cargo shorts? The shorts are in perfect condition but the metal loop holding the pull tab to the slider has broken. Any ideas? Extra points if close to MRT/BTS.

In most countries I'm aware of, if you go to a department store to buy a bed you end up with an expensive Sealy, expensive frame, etc.
When in Bangkok would someone go to buy a cheap bed. Not looking for necessarily high quality mattress, box springs and the like. Even a futon that doubles as a sofa could work. Perhaps even a bed you'd buy for a teenager.
I'm interested in something in the 5-8K range whereas Robinsons seems to have only in the 18K+ range.
Per above, HomePro. Also HomeWorks, Big-C, Tesco/Lotus. Many choices. HomePro and HomeWorks tend to have some big-discount sales on specific items; I bought two king-sized Sealy mattresses for 8k baht each, down from 20k baht. That was at HomePro about 6 months ago.
Are there typically large price differences between say HomePro branches in Ploen Chit vs. areas further from the center of town?

We will be in Khao Lak for Passover / Pesach 2009 and are wondering if anyone else will be in the area and interested in getting together for a Passover Seder.

I and many others, stopped using Thai airways when they ruined their frequent flyer program. I will never fly with them again unless they are the cheapest on the market.
What did they do that ruined the program?

Great info here thanks. I need to do a 30 day tourist extension. I can get the photocopies done at my hotel. What about the photograph? Any place to get it done in Bluport? Think they would accept a printed paper photo?
