Don't forget all the people that died without getting a covid test. Saving face is very important in Thailand and lack of testing helps.

A group of expats that I know posted photos on FB celebrating a friend's birthday drinking beer out of coffee cups. Packed in to a small bar. Pathetic.! Thais are in deep trouble in so many ways and these guys have no regard for the rules. Can't manage without their talking s**t and drinking beer.

Exactly and this has been the case for a year or more , I know personally 2 Thai nationals here in the khon kaen area who had many obvious covid symptoms about 9 months ago.
Both were able to get to hospital however one working at a University town with a known outbreak and one with friends in the village who had returned from a known Bangkok covid hotspot, yet they were refused testing because no immediate direct traceable contact with a covid positive case.
Back to the University and the village with paracetamol and advice to call an ambulance if have breathing problems or go to a private hospital if you really want a test.........that was when BKK hospital had the covid test package at the gouging price of 15k.
I don't believe any outbreak was completely reduced to 0 in Thailand. Elimination is very dificult achieve. Also when Peru had 69k reported deaths no media were jumping up and down about under reporting. Then they upped the official death toll to 180k. Deaths can be under reported in countries that choose to do so.

Only the sick would go to hospital for a test. Sorry, no test. Go home. Get very sick. Die.. Not covid because not tested. Deaths figures are BS too. That's my view.

4000 a day won't be the new normal. An upward trajectory will be the norm until more restrictions are put in place and vaccine uptake is much higher.

If you believe that any province has been free of covid then all I can say is that ignorance is bliss
You don't get it. Not worth explaining.

For anyone that believes that covid deaths can't be under reported. Peru has just raised its official death toll from 69k to 180k. It makes it the country with the highest death toll per capita in the world. I guess until other countries release true figures. Why hang on daily numbers when this it what is possible?

If BKK and surrounds adopt this schools will not open until next year.
Its only my opinion but I don't think it will take long before cases are found in some of these schools. Covid is probably still around. I hope not but time will tell.

324 schools reopen in Lampang province after 5 days with no covid transmission. Will be interesting to see what happens. If truly no covid then happy days.

You honestly seem like an intelligent person, which makes it that much more insane how every single day you miss the patently obvious point of what us "doomsayers" are saying
None of us have said that it's going to be like walking dead on the streets, or like the scenes in India (which you keep implying that we're saying). Our entire point has been and is that there's absolutely zero chance for even the slightest semblance of normalcy in the city / country with how things were handled once the Thong Lor cluster formed, how it's been handled in the country since, and how it's being handled moving forward (in every single aspect)
Yet every single day you come in here with some sort of egregious spin on the situation while also completely changing what we've been saying, to try to give your ridiculous spin spin more credibility
But I guess if being that wrong and that disingenuous to a bunch of people on the internet is what helps you cope, then you do you my guy
You lost me on the first line. ????

The workers inside do not all live on the grounds and they do travel outside to shop and take care of business. Nice try to believe it just stays put inside.
Exactly. The cluster could also have started at the local 7/11.

But never at the start of a surge...those flatline patterns ALWAYS come after an exponential surge. By a pandemics very nature you can’t have a flatline at the beginning of the pandemic...it’s either up or it’s down...it’s not up and then flatline at the high water mark.Show me a country that has flatlined at the high water mark?
100%. Other countries with mass testing and reliable figures show covid graphs like a rollercoaster. All depends on restrictions. My guess Thailand is on the up not the down.

Clusters start with 1 person entering an area with crowded conditions. I bet there a lot of people walking around ready to start the next cluster and a lot of areas ready to be the next cluster.

What percentage of the Australian adult population plan NOT to get vaccinated? Vaccine rollout is also very slow there. Is there much vaccine hesitancy?
Hesitancy is a problem mainly with AZ. Supply issues with other vaccines. Terrible vaccine rollout for a country like Australia. I guess being covid free most of the time people haven't felt a sense of urgency. Now with another lockdown looks like people are understanding the importance of getting vaccinated. Time will tell.

In your view, but not in their eyes. It is the way they have chosen to handle it unfortunate as it may be.
Its the reason Australia has been covid free for most of the time. Some people just don't get it. I'm in Melbourne and most people agree it is nessessary albeit difficult. Short term pain for long term gain. That Australia's approach and it has worked.

I said Victoria about to go into a 7 day maybe more lockdown. At the time of my post this had not yet been confirmed. I said going into lockdown and that's what's happening. Lockdown starts at midnight tonight. I'm confused why you say I am wrong.
He read your post incorrectly.

If Thailand was a wealthy nation, I'm sure they would have locked down more aggressively as they did last year. Think about the reasons why they're so hesitant to do a strict lockdown.
I'm talking about the numbers without full lockdown. R0 must be exactly 1 to stay at 2000 cases a day excluding prisons.

Melbourne Australia. Lockdown starts midnight tonight. 26 cases found so far. 26k test results yesterday 40k test results today. Most, if not all, positive cases from known contacts. Why can't Thailand share it's magic with Australia and the rest of the world.

I would be interested in knowing the number of prisons that have at least one case. If there is one then..well.

Yes some people die from this virus. Just shy of 3,500,000 people so far.
The WHO said today that the official worldwide death toll could be 6 to 8 million.

Thailand eyes travel bubble with China and Malaysia

It's sort of embarrassing really.. Talking about travel bubbles when many countries are opening up. I shake my head and smile when I see Thailand living like it's 2020.
