Sure, majority of the people who drink to much are thinking it is not a problem (also not a problem to drive after). Same for people who use drug... Go to Huahin if you are ready to die, go to Pattaya if you still want some fun in your life (and some of the cheapest best restaurants oh whole Thailand). Do not worry about beach, because as most foreigners living in Pattaya you will see in twice a year at most (how ridiculous!) except if you are smart enough to live at walking distance near the beach.

Buy the way, before you talk about my background, most Thai I know are at least Master degree educated, many abroad, some are teaching in university or having jobs that very few people can hope to do.
