  1. Just from the small village we live in when in Thailand there are many women who have went to the Los Angeles area on tourist visa’s and got married(frudently?) in less then a year knowing their mate or signed up for college education enrolled in a strip mall university never went to class and have been there working for many years. Now they want to bring their children there because everything is free(they think). My sister in law left her husband went there 2years ago and has not and probably will not return, she’s looking to marry an American so she can stay even though she’s still married in Thailand. I also know a fairly wealthy Thai lady who makes a living loaning moneyto these people so they can show USA immigration they are well off and plan on returning after their tour is complete. More damn scams then a person can keep up with. And the government does nothing, if you overstay in Thailand you are fined and if it’s a long overstay you’re blacklisted and can’t get back in, over there the government probably buys them a bouquet of flowers and the airfare to go home. Then people wonder why the American people elected a leader who might just put Americans first.

Personally, I prefer the terms "border bounce" or "border hop". I previously liked to use the term "visa run" to describe a trip to a consulate outside Thailand to apply for a visa. However, since Thai immigration seems to refer to crossing the border, in some cases, as a "visa run", like "retirement visa", it becomes ambiguous. In the future, I will probably never again use "visa run" in my posts, because its meaning is now open to misinterpretation.

I wasn’t trying to be a wise ass, sorry for the misunderstanding. My wife and I spend 6 months in Thailand each year from November to May and they require you to get your passport stamped every 90 days so I guess a person could call that a “run, hop, bounce, flop or whatever and it still all means the same thing. They charge a person $200 for it and Thai’s coming to the States come on a tourist visa and never go home to Thailand again and our stupid government lets them get away with it with sanctuary cities.

  3. With theNon O multiple isn’t it required that every 90 days you have to cross the border, come back and get a stamp for another 90 days and it’s good for one year. What else would you call that other then a visa run? Does it make any difference what they call it or does it mean something else? I think some of these border officers think they are more important than they really are.

  4. My step-son is directly involved in the Commerical airline business in Thailand and he has told me many times that it's a family affair. The big boys hire family into top positions and they don't know a landing gear from a wing, seldom are at their desk, all drive expensive cars and basically live the high life. If this company does get an outside consulting firm to audit their operation they'll probably come out of it shaking their heads and talking to themselves. I'm sure it's that bad.

  5. Thai food, as long as there's no maggots in it its all delicious. My wife cooks the most delicious dishes and has been for last 44 years. That's one of the reasons I now tip the scales at 120KGS. Been told to go on a diet my her but she don't stop putting that good tasting food in front me, what is a man to do, I think die happy. Have a great day friends!

  6. A statistic id like to see is, where are these vehicles from in all these accidents. The big cities and provinces in Issan and the North usually have the most accidents and fatalities but I'd bet my left eye that a BIG percentage carry Bangkok license plates. Just about every time I wittiness a crazy driver the wife tells be they are from Bangkok. I think their mentality is"Oh boy the open road, petal to metal and get the hell out of my way I'm coming thru"

  7. My daughter and her husband stayed there in February at a resort(can't recall the name, sorry) and they had a great time, enjoyed everything about it. Also had a friend's daughter go there in 2006 and again last year and were disappointed at all the commercial changes that had taken place. So it's in the eyes of the beholder I guess you'd say. Hope you have a great time, it's surely got to beat that rat race in Bangkok.

  8. I think the holiday started out years ago as a time for family to visit family and pray for a bounty of rain for the up coming rice planting(this is where the water throwing originated) and it has slowly deteriorated to a messy dangerous free for all. Hand fulls of water graduated to buckets full and water guns that can knock your eyes out. Kids have a great time and it's fun watching the little ones, but the older ones get carried away almost destructive. We just stay very close to home and hope nobody gets hurt. The north bound traffic is horrendous, we live close to AH-2 and most of the time it is impossible to cross the highway by ANY means.

  9. I've been driving motor vehicles for over 50 years, 14 in Thailand. Had very few tickets and one accident(not my fault, other driver fell asleep and crossed centerline, bam!) when I first started driving in Thailand I was rudely awakened to the craziness of some of these drivers. I was mad as hell every time we went anywhere. After a few years you get used to it. That's what you have to do,get used to it. They're not going to change, period. Please avoid a confrontation, you will always, one way or another , come in second.

  10. Never had any problems with immigration or customs here. BUT, my daughter visited us in Thailand in February and on her return to the States they went through customs in Denver and did she get the treatment. They must have had a quota to make. She had packaged Thai spices,(the same things you can buy at any Asian grocery store)some left over beef jerky(originally bought in the states), and an apple she got at breakfast and forgot about. She didn't claim any of it as food and they checked her baggage. They called her liar for not claiming the food, and fined her $500. And the same outfit lets millions of illegals in the country and hard telling what they're bring in. Hope I never go through Denver.
