Kind of disheartening, but why does such a large number of farang have this deep hatred for Thais and for Thailand?

They really need to kick this old man out of Thailand, as well as the Swiss idiot. If they don’t, Thai authorities will be sending a terrible message to other misogynistic farang out there, and you will be seeing a lot more of these cases of violence perpetrated against Thai women. A few more of these incidents going public and I think Thais will have had enough.

Private property or not… If I were Thai I would black list this dude for sure. No reason Thais should put up with any physically or verbally aggressive farang. Next time he will do worse if he is not held accountable.

Anyone complaining over a $10 US dollar fee should not be welcomed to Thailand anyway. The fee should be at the least 3000 bht, and for anyone who doesn’t like it should just go some fukn place else, easy as that.

23 minutes ago, it is what it is said:
how long was the insurance for? which company?
3 weeks

I found it to be a super easy process. It was very clear and fast to complete, took me about an hour to call and get both my insurance and hotel, about 30 minutes to upload the documents to the “Thailand Pass” page, and I received the approval QR Code 3 days later.
For the Covid insurance I paid $130, and for the one-day quarantine hotel 4600 baht. Getting the insurance was not that big of a deal, since I have always purchased it in the past when I travel to Europe and South America where I go often. Actually, it is not very smart to travel the world without international travel insurance.
Nevertheless, the process seemed pretty streamlined and easy to complete.

I can see whining when you are a twenty year old, but when you are a 40, 50, or 60 year old complaining gringo about everything Thai, why not move back to where it is so much better? Why stay in Thailand?… so weird!

Single biggest mistake that Thais could make is to allow land ownership by foreign people. This could mean the beginning of the end for Thais ever being able to buy a house or land in their own country.
Mexico has created restricted zones where foreigners can purchase land 50 kilometers from shorelines and 100 kilometers from international borders. Maybe Thailand can create restricted zones, but Thailand is geographically a fraction on Mexico.
Imagine a foreign company or someone with enormous wealth power buying out in perpetuity large chunks of land in Thailand, and one day deciding that they don’t want an outdoor market here or there, or no more street vendors here or there, or that rather than Buddhist temples on their land they want Christian churches on every block… <deleted> that! Thailand is great the way it is, where falang can complain about stupid things all day long but don’t have real power to dictate how Thais live their lives, how their homes look, or how their towns look. Also, that’s not mentioning the likeliness of sky rocketing prices that properties will undergo when foreigners become the main market to sell land too.
All around, It’s a terrible idea for Thais to ever allow unrestricted foreign ownership of land.

Instead of complaining about everything Thai, why not move back to your countries of origin where everything is so much better?

They government needs to start cancelling visas. Thailand would be so much nicer with about 2/3rds less falang there.

A note for Thais what to expect when they move to the US, no more great street food, a much higher cost of living, get fined or ticked for everything, a million laws controlling much of your life, and a current atmosphere of anti-Asian sentiment which has resulted in a bunch of violent attacks lately. Also to be aware, the US is not like Thailand, where you can walk anywhere in the country, in any city, at any time and not have to worry about getting robed, raped or murdered. Something else to consider, is that the US is shaped by Christian Fundamentalism, very different from Buddhism, which is far more calm, respectful, tolerant, far less aggressive, and far less violent. The US is ok for a little while, but a Thai would be crazy to want to move permanently to the US. It should tell you something when so many westerners want to move to Thailand.

In the US price gouging is modus operandi.

Like Americans like to say, "If you don't like it, go back to your country"

I took a Covid-19 test last week in Bangkok for $68 dollars, no big deal. In the US, I would have to pay for it the same and I am a citizen there.
The reality is that it would take most of my Thai friend’s weeks to save this amount of money to get the test. Best is to stop whining and at least do your part in trying to be part of the solution.
Being grateful won't hurt either, Thailand is by far the best place to be during the last year and a half, far better than being stuck in Europe or the US.

I could be wrong, but the day they start allowing foreigners to easily purchase land in Thailand is the day the average Thai will never ever be able to buy a home. Property prices and rents will skyrocket!

Typical condescending lecturing from an all knowing westerner, he should have stayed in his perfect and wonderful country.
