You can be absolutely certain his demand is purely self interest. As with all Thai politicians he buys vast amounts of USD for the day he's sent into exile. Remember July 1997 when Chavalit shorted the THB the Friday before the following  Monday when the Tha baht crashed. Sources in HSBC say he made USD400m personally off the trade. He was never investigated! Amazing Thailand!! 

It's a pity it's during the kids half term as mine will have to miss the tournament since we'll be away on holiday as I suspect a number of the kids will be. I wonder if the event planners thought about that. 

Corrupt politicians in Thailand??? Nah, don't believe it. 

A weak baht is good for exports and tourism, Thailands 2 biggest contributors to GDP. With the world on the verge of recession an exchange rate of USD 40Baht would help enormously with both these sectors. 

Nobody has a right to touch a girl regardless of her profession without permission. I must have knocked out a dozen animals in the early years of my marriage who felt they had the right to grope my wife. 30 years later and its now my daughters these animals are gaping at.. God forbid them if they touch my girls 

Quite sad really as their problems were no doubt caused by poverty. It sucks being poor as most of us have been at one stage in our early adulthood. There are way too many messed up relationships in Thailand which stem from poverty. We should all be more compassionate and help where we can. 

Thats a place to avoid for sure. Who the hell goes to the police about something so trivial.

These sort of losers are what give the rest of us a bad name. Lock him up and throw the keys away. 

There have not been any stray elephants in Hua Hin to my knowledge at least in the past 10 years. There was the big Bull called Jojo at the camp off the Pala U road next to the temple who regularly escaped but he's since been sold and relocated elsewhere. 

Must have been  Borat enjoying one of his favorite hobbies. 

When will people seek references before engaging with builders. There are very few honest reliable builiders anywhere in the world and least of all here in Thailand. There are some good ones so ask around and go to see houses or in this case, pools, built by recommended builder. It's not rocket science. We've had nothing but really great experiences with our builder and have become  family friends.. He's now built more than 8 luxury villas for friends, all of whom are thrilled with the outcome. Background checks whether building or buying in Thailand is a must. Its very easy to do.

Perhaps you hadn't noticed the changes in Hong Kong these past few years. Direct flights in and out of Hua Hin from Hong Kong, Singapore and other parts of the region will be successful. The world has also changed since covid. More travellers from the region rather than Europe. 

Then I suggest the researchers behind this should go and visit some world class city destinations because Hua Hin is currently a run down little seaside town. It has the potential but it will involve huge investment and international architects, planners and hospitality professionals. 

That's all they need to do and tourist numbers will go thru the roof next high season. But they need to scrap the restrictions soon. Not after the summer as it'll be too late for people in Europe who need to plan well ahead.
