  1. Morning All...

I live on Samui, and I'm about to buy a new car but not sure which one to go for.  I've narrowed it down to either a CX-5 Turbo or a Fortuner Legender.

I really like the look of the Fortuner and I understand that Toyota holds their resale value better.  It's a practical SUV which is definitely suited for Samui roads.  However, I'm not sure if I really need such a big truck for my small family, and I'm sure the CX-5 will get much better fuel economy for short runs plus it'll probably be more fun to drive.

    Decisions.. decisions...

I'd really appreciate your input and which one you would go for.

    TIA,
    Tom.

  2. Smee again!

    I can't do it.  I just can't buy a Mazda CX-5.  I know it's a great car, but I think they look awful.

So now I'm left with either a Ford Everest or a Fortuner.

I had an Everest about 4 years ago and it was great.  That was the old 3.2L version.  I remember back then the new Fortuner had come out and it got slated compared to the Everest.  I'm just wondering if there has been any improvements to the Fortuner over the past 3-4 years?   The new Everest is also the 2.0 bi-turbo model - not sure how it compares to the old 3.2?

    Thanks, Tom.

  3. Ha...  I knew I'd get a mixed bag of replies.  I also have a Ferrari 458 Italia in the USA but would never dream of trying to import that here.

It's cool, I can leave these cars back in the USA...

I just saw a Macan today and it got me thinking how much I miss that car.  It really is a dream to drive it.

I guess it's either a CX-5, Everest or Fortuner for me then.  How dull.

  4. Morning All,

Thanks for the replies.  I'm not bothered about looks, sportiness, etc.  The Macan Turbo I have in the States was an amazing SUV, the handling was superb.  I also have a 911 GTS and a 458 back there.  I could afford to buy a Macan here if I wanted but I refuse to pay double the price back home.

In the end I've decided just to go with the Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo SP AWD.  It will be fine for what I need.

  5. Morning All,

Just moved back and looking for a new scooter.  I saw a Yamaha Aerox in a local dealer which looks nice and would do me fine.  It's up for 70k.

However, when googling it to read the reviews it appears a 2021 upgraded model has just been released.  Any idea how long it takes for them to appear at dealers?  Is it worth waiting for this model?

Or is it work considering a Honda Click 150i?

I don't have a bike at the moment so looking to buy something quite soon.

    TIA
    Tom

  6. Greetz!

I have just moved back to Thailand and need to buy a new car / suv to get around Samui.  When I lived there previously I had a Ford Everest which was a brilliant car.  I loved it.

I'm currently renting a honda civic and would consider a small car like this but the issue is ground clearance.  I build villas and yesterday I visited a site and nearly grounded the damn thing on a terrible road.

I'm open to all suggestions.  I would definitely consider an Everest again, but not sure if I really need something that big.  I also don't need a pick-up truck as I wouldn't use the bed in the back.

My car back in the USA was a Porsche Macan Turbo.  I wish I could haven't brought it with me, it was an amazing SUV and would be perfect for what I need here.

So all suggestions welcome, thank you
