As an American visiting Thailand on a 90-day visa, I noticed in October and November that many local Thais expressed concerns about Russian tourists not tipping in restaurants and being perceived as unfriendly. Foreigners, regardless of their visa type, are not permitted to work in Thailand unless they have been granted a work permit. To be eligible for a work permit, individuals must hold the appropriate visa, typically a Non-Immigrant Visa. Not paying for food should be thrown out.

There were once flights from LAX to BKK and from New Your to Bangkok. Then the flights stopped and now from the west coast flying to Thailand is a challenge of 18 to 30 hours at best. Does anyone reading this post see a possibility of airlines flying direct to Bangkok from Los Angeles with flight time under 16 hours?
Both the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 XWB are perfectly suitable for direct LAX to BKK flights, offering efficient and comfortable long-distance travel while adhering to FAA safety regulations.

Medical Uses Known in the 1930s USA
-
Pain Relief: Cannabis was recognized for its analgesic properties. It was used to relieve pain associated with various conditions, including migraines, menstrual cramps, and chronic pain.
-
Antiemetic: It was used to treat nausea and vomiting, particularly in patients suffering from illnesses such as cancer.
-
Appetite Stimulation: Cannabis was known to stimulate appetite, which was beneficial for patients with wasting syndromes or those undergoing treatments like chemotherapy.
-
Antispasmodic: It was used to alleviate muscle spasms and was prescribed for conditions like multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.
-
Sedative: Cannabis was used for its sedative properties to help with insomnia and anxiety.
Cotton Industry
The cotton industry perceived hemp as a direct competitor. Hemp fibers were used in making textiles and other products that cotton also served. The production of hemp required fewer pesticides and was more versatile in its uses compared to cotton. Thus, the cotton industry had a vested interest in diminishing hemp's popularity to protect its market share.
Pulp and Paper Industry
Similarly, the pulp and paper industry viewed hemp as a significant threat. Hemp is an excellent source of pulp for paper production, requiring fewer chemicals to process compared to wood pulp. Leading figures in the pulp industry, such as William Randolph Hearst, who owned vast timberlands and paper mills, allegedly supported the prohibition of hemp to eliminate competition and protect their investments in timber.

With a Long History in Thailand:
As someone who has been visiting Thailand since 2004, I've witnessed many fascinating changes in the Kingdom. Back then, English wasn't as widely spoken, but its prominence as the global business language is undeniable.
Shifting Travel Landscape:
Flying from the US to Thailand used to be much easier. Multiple flights from major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco created healthy competition, resulting in lower fares. Now, despite advancements in long-haul aircraft like those from Airbus and Boeing, there are fewer options for travelers.
Respectful Integration:
As for visitors in the Kingdom, it's important for everyone to respect Thai culture. Perhaps airlines flying into Thailand could consider creating short in-flight movies in the departing languages. These movies could introduce Thai cultural norms and highlight that visitors are guests with visa requirements. It would be a wonderful way to promote responsible and respectful tourism.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has been working developing a mobile application that would allow travelers to store and manage certifications for COVID-19 tests or vaccines. This app according to news articles is to be made available to download on android and iOS systems by March 2021.
Information on the digital card is designed to protect personal information and only to show proof of testing or vaccinations. The goal is to have a universal vaccine card system that works for every country without imposing a quarantine on an incoming traveler(s).
This would be a terrific card to have as I would like to come to Thailand, but cannot stay quarantined for 14 days in a claustrophobic environment and is a waste of time and money.
