Ive said it before and I'll say it again - some of you on here really need to chill out and stop being so negative. It's painful to read so many of you hating on Thailand as much as you do. No hobbies or anything?

Quite agree.
Plus, here in SE UK, fewer and fewer people are wearing masks in shops (where they are compulsory) and I've yet to see anyone stopped and questioned. To be fair I haven't travelled on a train for a couple of years so have no first-hand knowledge of them. I'm going to a comedy club on Monday night and I know it's sold out so will be crowded. Vaccinated 3 times, am I bothered? Nope - I'll take the small chance.
Hope you enjoy it mate, happy to see some positivity where people are usually quick to be encouraging everyone else to still not be living life even though venues are open to be enjoyed

The UK government gets alot of <deleted>, some of it rightly so but we have absolutely smashed it with the vaccine rollout and we will soon be able to live with this. Bojo was being criticised for not putting more restrictions in over the festive period but he held out and it has paid off. It is now time to get rid of some of the stupid rules that contradict themselves. I saw someone being questioned and maybe fined over not wearing a mask on a train from stockport to manchester to which I got off the train, took my mask off and attended a 13000 capacity rave minutes later. It makes no sense.

I did not say or imply that. Although ignorant, arrogant, reckless locals, expats, immigrant workers & tourist (dom & int'l) certainly added to the problem / #s.
OP is about the T&G policy, or non 16 day quarantine. That's what I'm addressing. When having 16 day quarantine for all, clusters were manageable. Without the 16 day quarantine, arriving infections, and flat out stupid behavior of all, and the clusters were no longer manageable.
Lack of quarantine, or the failed Sandbox & T&G schemes were for developing an already crushed tourism economy, for the benefit of the very few still invested in it. Nothing like feeding the fire. Went from 3000+ deaths back in July, call it August, when Sandbox opened to now 20,000+ death. Smart move.
To your early comment, since covid is not endemic, or wasn't 2 yrs ago, yes, tourism is to blame. Now it's shared by all who act irresponsible.
And yet, I've been called irresponsible & selfish, more than a few times by more than a few members, because I'm not vax'd and went out & about. Around the whole country a few times, matter of fact. And yet, listening and following 'most' of the practical advice, from smarter people than myself, I didn't get or spread the virus.
BUT ... I simply practiced self distancing, without or with a mask when called for. Didn't attend crowded events, didn't Q up or visit crowded restaurants, ate off hours (my norm anyway).
Simply practiced that very uncommon common sense.
Want to save lives and stop the spread ... 16 day quarantine for all arrivals. International Tourism - DNR to safe to restart, develop domestic tourism in the meantime.
So basically because you're a loner then everybody else should not only be a loner but lose out on their income? Sounds legit. The entitlement of some of you is shocking

The customers will catch covid, have the sniffles for 2-5 days, be fine and then go back drinking stronger than ever

I was feeling really depressed. I have a flight 13 Jan on Singapore Airlines with an approved Thai Pass, 1 day hotel, taxi, insurance and PCR test paid for.
I read this thread and thought oh no....then I thought no-one has contacted me and told me my plans must change???
What if I was never on this forum, Singapore Airlines is expecting me 13 Jan from Brisbane to Singapore and Bangkok on 14 Jan, Elegant hotel is expecting to pick me up 14 Jan for 1 night stay,
I realised only this forum is telling me I can't go, my airline, hotel and approved Thai Pass tell me I can go, who is correct???
They aren't closing the borders though so your airline won't care. The hotel you booked fleeced you for your money overcharging you for a PCR test and a nights stay so I doubt they care whether youre able to make it or not

Well, I'd guess that it will certainly be in place well before then. (and then potentially removed again before then!)
I'm due to fly out Wednesday this week. Can they act that fast ? Depends on how the Test & Go was passed into law originally, and what legal steps would be necessary to cancel it, as to how quickly they change could be made.
I have no idea to be honest but best of luck to you!

God, I wish we knew that !! I'm on tenderhooks.
Due to fly out late January, I know all the usual blah blah shouldnt make plans during a pandemic but its been years now, still doesn't avoid dissapointment. A holiday is well needed after nearly 2 years of constant negative <deleted> going on

Any date been mentioned as to when this will be coming into effect (if it does) ?

For those who have done their test & go - how long did the result take to come back?

Not true, My GF's extended family have all been double vaccinated with Sinovac. 10 are in the hospital now with covid, one on a ventilator, and one has been removed from the ventilator and is now just on oxygen. Did it possibly save their lives well it is still to soon to tell. No we are nowhere near heard immunity here in Thailand and way below the projected vaccination schedule this Government wanted to undertake.
Surely they must be all extremely vulnerable because that it is either a huge exaggeration or Thailand admits people to hospital the second they test positive

My life is more than enjoyable, i am on permanent holiday life style here in Pattaya
where i live since years, what you see on this forum isn't ''bashing a country'', it's just
writing the reality as it is, not as the junta or some dreamers would see it
by the way old padawan is an oxymoron
A Padawan is a learner or apprentice. The term can refer specifically to a Jedi apprentice within the Star Wars universe. It can also be used more generally to refer to a trainee, a beginner, or an inexperienced person.
????
However you want to put it 90% of content on here is negativity. If you think that venting your outrage on a forum is going to solve any problems then you truly are a padawan

Hey listen old fella, it's one thing having an educated guess at to whether or not you think Thailand will open but if it doesn't then it isn't the end of the world. I don't see what bashing a country will do but then again I actually enjoy my life at home and Thailand is just a luxury for me. I suggest you find something to make life enjoyable again my friend that doesn't involve going away old padawan

Some miserable old people on this forum. I thought people were exaggerating but you spend your time bashing Thailand for whatever strange reason. Anyway - Thailand has to open eventually, yes they are currently slow with the vaccine progress but this will pick up and things will get better when it does. I am booking to come in November and if I can't come I'll rearrange my flights but I believe the tourist areas will be open at least

I mean I'm not too optimistic myself but the negativity on this forum is astounding. Some people are really sour for some reason.. We did absolutely terrible at handling the virus initially but the vaccine is rolling out nicely and won't be long until everyone is vaccinated. Had very few hiccups so far with the rollout so I would class the UK as low risk especially during the later stages of Thailand's plan as most (maybe even all) of the UK population will have had some form of vaccination by then.
I've booked hotel's for July with refund options. Flights are getting booked if this plan progresses and us Brit's can legally travel. if it goes wrong then so be it but have some faith guys

You could sit down and argue that every country has handled this poorly. I mean if you really wanted to, you could sit and get angry about alot of things that go on on this planet but you just don't. You get on with it, moaning will do absolutely nothing about these problems and you're defending a group of toxic people on the internet that have nothing better to do
