  1. Im in the Samoeng area if that makes any difference and have a dozen natural coconuts full of coconut water and I want to not only sprout them but get roots growing as well! I have two that have 12” healthy sprouts but no sign of roots! ***I am not going to float them in salt water and bury them in beach sand!! I’d really appreciate advice from anyone with actual experience growing coconuts! ps: these are not dwarf variety
  2. The dead cow is the real fix…I’ve had a few seats recovered with leather and the difference is amazing and comfortable! Leather breathes they tell me…no more sweating! expensive fix tho’
  3. Thanks I’m a fan of Makro so I think I’ll give the Kitchen Magic a try ive got a lot of space to do as it looks like kitchen dining and living rooms all need to be cleaned and painted! This comes from normal Thai cooking and I’m not sure why we’re having this Aussie all of a sudden in the last six months! We’re going to move the cooking back out to the summer kitchen I guess!
  4. Yes but they leave a film on the wall surface as well….not good
  5. We want to paint interior but have cooking oil smoke on the walls of our kitchen! I’m looking for a product to wash the greasy smoke off before I paint but tried two paint shops and they don’t seem to know what I’m talking about! They just suggested a primer… I will use a primer but can’t bring myself to roll it over this oil smoke! In Canada we used a product called TSP specifically made for this job…it was a powder mixed with water if I remember correctly! Does anyone know what I should buy here in Thailand
  6. You 30 year old guys seem to be doing what everyone should be doing at your age so keep on your own schedule???? You’re running into a little flak here from a few members that are way past your age and are just now realizing they did it wrong ????….but only a few. Most of us are glad to see forward thinkers at your age! Just remember that at 30 years old you have no doubt yet to meet some of life’s major challenges…don’t worry they’ll come! From 0-30 life is “generally” pretty kind…health should be good…hopefully no divorce in your life yet…no child support…no alimony….no unexpected business failures thru no fault of your own or even completely your fault! Just saying it’s pretty easy to p”” off a few on here for some reason so choose your words carefully….you are 100% correct by the way just be gentle???? Good luck to you….message me in 30 more years and let me know how it went????
  7. I grew a lot of them in Canada ???????? and they don’t seem to have natural enemies once you get them started nicely! I have heard of worms eating the bulbs when they’re first put in the ground so we planted them just before the winter frost….they survived the -20 degrees below nicely! Keep me posted on how they’re doing and Thank You for the photos
  8. Yes….,there would be no doubt in my mind you’d live alone! You almost sound proud of yourself….pretty immature ???? Now #8 on my Ignored Losers list….????
  9. Are you growing them in pots or in the ground? Full sun or part shade? Do they have any bug problems?
  10. It is and it isn’t…..I’m amazed at the amount of people that say they don’t shower first….I just assumed it was standard practice!
  11. Yes it’s is a rule all over the world…there are showers inside and outside for showering before you get in for hygienic reasons and to get the chlorine etc. off your skin afterwards. Even in Canada’s natural hot spring areas there’s showers unless you’ve hiked way back in????
  12. Same same…I have four sons back home and she has one daughter three months out of uni. and working at a ?$&@!!>%# job but she’s now pulling her own weight (and sends her Mum presents every month). We buy her things for her place once in awhile…some groceries etc. but that’s just because we want to! Wife's family all works and my family all works and as you say all are really decent people….there are no expectations of others????
  13. We help out here and there if someone’s short or there’s an emergency but my wife made it very clear to her relatives…we have our own family and we aren’t a bank ????
  14. There’s been a few rental companies try these in Thailand but they go broke one after the other….Seems like the perfect place for them but even pre Covid they seemed to go under.
  15. Used vehicle prices follow the new prices up the ladder until they get too expensive and then people start buying new again as a rule! I just think once dealers find that they can’t sell a fossil fuel powered trade in as quickly as they need to they’ll reduce the amount of $’s they put in or may stop taking them in trade altogether! Speculation on my part of course but when the Govt. and Greenpeace and the major auto manufacturers decide something is going to happen it’s going to happen faster than we think!
  16. One of the biggest costs of owning a vehicle is depreciation….how well they hold their value over a 3 year or 5 year period! Consumer Reports or The Black Book is really helpful showing depreciation….some hold their value much better than others like the Toyota Prius….one of the cheapest for maintenance and again depreciation
  17. In Canada and I believe N America there is a surcharge for disposing of batteries and used oil/antifreeze at all mechanical shops! (there’s also a fee for their shop supplies but that’s another story) Im sure the shops do have a buyer for those things but the customer pays the surcharge on every mechanics bill….it’s not only allowed but it’s required! If you change your own oil you can dispose of it at any fire station along with paint and all other dangerous goods!
  18. You’re going a little further off grid than we are but I get it…it’s nice to have some animals and be able to plant what you want where you want! Always something to do and some money to be spent somehow! I think I mentioned we are at 4 rai here and it’s a lot of work to look after but here’s a couple photos showing us at our best (new brush cutter)….even in the rain which never stops it seems! Just a small two bedroom bungalow coming up 25 years old now but we side onto a deep ravine on three sides so no neighbors possible today or tomorrow. We’re up high in the mountains a km from town so alone but close enough if we need to be….an hours drive on mountain roads to ChiangMai where they have everything! You will enjoy your country life…let me know how you’re making out a few months in????
  19. I didn’t know….I’m still lost on this! If you’re trying to save the world I get that but if you’re simply trying to improve your travel costs I think it would take a long time to break even on the extra initial costs of the vehicle! I read there’s new batteries every five years or so …..I’m sure they don’t come cheap plus there will be a large disposal fee for the old batteries I assume….. like they charge on used oil and batteries now!
  20. Those prices sound high compared to Canada ????????
  21. I’m still going to look for the type with a wide waist belt to carry the complete load on my hips…. I’m sure this one you show here would do everything I need but I have a picture in my mind of what I want and I’ll chase it down ???? That ever happen to you??
