I had the J&J in New York on a business trip and then recently had the Pfizer here in Bangkok as a first shot not booster as my first JJ was overseas Thai health authorities did not provide a 50% booster or really want to record theJ &J so I opted for the full Pfizer and will have the second shot next month. Its easier to start all over again and have the complete Pfizer shots. Incidentally my J & J vaccine was administered last June so the gap in time between shots was 6 months. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your experience.  How did you register for the full Pfizer course?  Was it through expatvac.consular.go.th, or another arrangement?  I think you are right that starting over is probably the best option, since I also received my J & J dose Stateside back in June.

  2. I just received a cancellation notice from Air Asia for a direct flight from Phuket to Khon Kaen on Aug. 1.  It seems Air Asia has suspended all flights until at least Aug. 9.  I teach at Khon Kaen University and rent a townhouse in the city, so I'm anxious to get there, and will consider any method, including renting a van/driver for the trip.  Currently, I am staying here in Phuket having finished the 14-day Sandbox program a few days ago.

If anyone has a reasonable suggestion, I would appreciate any advice you could provide.

  3. I am currently teaching at a university in Thailand with a Non-Imm B visa and work permit.  The visa expires on Sept. 30, 2021, but should be extended to Sept., 2022.  I plan to visit California in the U.S. this May and return to Thailand in July.  My question is how many days should my COVID-19 insurance package cover to obtain the COE from the Thai Embassy - 90 days (from July to September), or will I have to spring for a full year's coverage?  Also, beyond the required passport and work permit pages, flight ticket, ASQ reservation, and negative COVID-19 test, are there any other recommended documents I need to submit, such as a letter from the university or special permission from the Ministry of Education?  If it makes any difference, I have been a lecturer at this university for almost 20 years.  Thanks for any information you can provide.
