That's true, even as a passenger , your not covered.

If a claimant has any alcohol in their system at the time of an accident , an insurer can say that alcohol contributed to the accident , so you won't be covered.

Just like the other clause regarding riding mopeds in Thailand , A lot of policies won't even cover you at all ,unless you read the small print .And the ones that do , you'll need to have a full motorcycle licence ,  having a car drivers licence will mean you won't be covered for accidents on a bike.

According to this we could be locked in until late 2022.

How did you get your exemption? , I got declined last week . I'm a dual Aus & UK citizen ,and stated on my Stat Dec that I no longer had any employment , family or property ties in Australia anymore ,and wanted to return to join my close family in the UK for at least 3 years. So therefore no risk of wanting to comeback to Aus and bringing the virus with me.

And Home Affairs came back to say I didn't have a " compelling reason" to leave.

Did you get an immigration lawyer to submit you application? , as that's what I'm thinking of doing next.
