Sounds pretty good to me... 80ms you'll only get when connecting to a server in Thailand. Or when you are in the USA.

only ever had a girl from the londoner give me her number and it was probably for my friend but i got greedy and snatched it anyway. maybe had some other girls give me numbers but i forgot, so they cant have been anything special looking

ive been using my nationwide flexaccount card in thailand for over 1 year with no problems, but it was blocked last week at the worst of times.. anyway i called them and within 5 hours i could take out from the ATM again and move money around online the next day. i asked them why they blocked, they said a letter bounced back at my address in the uk, tbu there was no letter..

but seriously, the fastest internet i have experienced is at 15mbps at the conrad serviced apartments, I got shown around and was told the cheapest rate they could do for a 1 bedroom was 100,000 a month. the gym was tiny, the room was pretty awful (considering how expensive it was), the only good thing was that when i did the speed test for the internet i got 11mbps which is awesome! i went to ascott and got a nicer rate there, 72k for a 2 bedroom and they arranged a separate line 5mbps adsl with true which worked well. now im in a condo and im on 4mbps true.. gonna try and get them to boost me back to 5.. who do i have to bribe -.-

seems like the fastest non-hotel/serviced residence internet is 4mbps, most hotels internet are AWFUL from my experience.. disconnect a lot, bad speeds, inconsistent speeds.. im sure they dont have any kind of priority for web traffic over something like torrents and multithreaded downloads >.<

In my home country I have an cable LAN Internet/telephone connection speed of 15Mbps with a 30GB monthly download and its also include land line telephone with free calls 24/7 on all national and EU land line numbers, mobile phone and cable television 45 stations all from one company for about 2250 Baht a month.

is there some provider in the Bangkok area where I can have something similar;

Would love to find a small but very high quality unit suitable for one person, currently I am looking at a couple units in Infinity Sathorn but before I make any commitments would love to know if anything completed recently with awesome units

my questions were, if they teach at home they will still process visa or need to physically attend a class, and what the minimum amount of hours were for the ED visa if taught at home, and if could convert O to ED in BKK immigration (i supsect not but still I am not sure)

Oops about writing Thai here, wont happen again.

I was hoping to have a nice cosy transition without having to leave the country and get a new visa, but maybe ditching my O and getting an ED is the only way to go. Ive never been to singapore before so sounds like an excuse to try it Ive been looking at the thai elite visa option too but, seems more expensive than an ED visa with no free thai lessons (but maybe the massage girls included with elite visa can chat the whole hour they are rubbing my back although still only 24 a year )

Also considered the forming a company and work permit route, but, seems a lot of hassle for basically creating a shell company even though im not working, if it was easier I might do this option too.

Maybe I can just go back to UK and get another O but I doubt they will issue O visas for visiting friend/girlfriend back to back for many years so a longer term solution would be best

Additionally, I am not one of those "go to school to get a visa" ppl I am genuinely interested in learning thai and there is only so much I can get from gigs

I have searched around but cant find too much information and was wondering if anyone had any experience about extension of a 1 year multiple entry non-O on the basis of education (learning thai). Is this possible - and should it be extended within the validity of the visa (within the 1 year I am here) or can it be done within the stay the visa grants (the 15 months if a visa run is done on the last day of the 1 year).

Also, does this require attendance of a private school or is home tutoring from a private school acceptable?

i always try to talk thai, if they dont understand my thai (impolitely.. i.e. make a nasty face and not seem polite) then i talk normal british nice and quickly as i would talk to a friend back in manchester. if they are nice then i talk unbroken english but much more clear and with no slang. but.. i find typing broken thai much more often .. i guess i camfrog / msn too much >.<

the reviews on that cpu look good, its only a little faster, like 5-15% than the next best, but at much less power. meaning much more overclockable and sets way for them to release higher mhz in future, maybe we will see 4ghz finally

get in thailand, if your not home when the package gets delivered, picking it up from customs is a total nightmare and it took me 3 hours and a translator to get my laptop from customs, and i was grilled on everything and had to show it and stuff, thought i was gonna get deported! lol

its a shame cutting edge technology isnt available in thailand, im eager to get my hands on 3 solid state drives so i can put them in a raid in my laptop , i see they are in stock (from time to time) at my home site of http://www.overclockers.co.uk which i used to always use, but in thailand ppl in pantip havent even heard of solid state let alone have it in stock.

good news guys i contacted customs and the girl happily told me that my computer would be tax exempt under new laws just brought in. im due to pay 7% tax but that can be refunded if i leave the country anytime soon.

so seems there wont be any fees - hooray

i get about 700-800ms to EU-chromaggus, not acceptable for raiding pvp its ok but i dont like being at a disadvantage, but i suppose my l33t skills puts everyone else at a disadvantage so it evens things up a bit

so many "you can buy a more powerful machine locally" but no references. i looked at all online retailers i could find in thailand, and in pantip the fastest laptops were a joke, but they have lots of nice desktop parts/cooling.

i ordered a ps2 and some games from HK and they will be here tomorrow, i got a call saying i will have to pay about 4k baht on receipt which is less than 33% of the invoice cost, so if the laptop is also less than 33% i will be happy.

will post here with the results to help anyone else interested in buying technology goods from overseas while in thailand

as for the "why buy first, ask how much later?" i have been looking for a new laptop for a long time and impulse got the better of me when I found the fastest money could buy and upgradeable too

a nice laptop for that price, and would be a great idea id happily fly to singapore but the laptop you posted falls far below the specification I am looking for in a laptop and the laptop im buying has been proven stable and reliable. annoyingly clevo are based in asia, but i have to buy the laptop from their distributor in the USA :@:@:@

yeh its the fastest laptop money can buy from what ive seen, its really not expensive for all that power - its major drawbacks is weight. alienware and dell do laptops almost as powerful, they are a lot more expensive but generally a lot lighter too. you should see the picture of the heatsink, they heavy copper heatsinks are probably 60% of the machines weight.

This may sound harsh, but why on earth didn't you fly to the States and take one back yourself?!

if i was a US citizen and had family there / reason to go there I would, but to fly accross the world just to pick up a laptop and fly back, im not too interested in that. and i dont enjoy flying either.

after searching EVERYWHERE i cannot find a tax rate for computers. I am praying that its under finished goods and thus 20% +7% vat.. 27% is a lot but not so bad i guess. if its 60% i dont know what I will do. probably not accept the goods and just make do with my current laptop i dont know

after further research im seeing rates of 20% for "finished goods" i will try and find rates for computers. if its 60% then it would actually be cheaper to fly to the US, pick it up, fly back. ridiculous

my specs: intel core 2 extreme edition processor, 3x SATA 300 hard drives (so 360gb total or 450gb cant remember). 7950gtx graphics card (i didnt go for SLI because i want to wait for the new directx 10 cards to come out (highend) so the 7950gtx is still the fastest, will stick two 8800gtx's in when they come out.

its pretty nice but, paying $3000 tax on a $4000 laptop is crazy. im in two minds if to just refuse it, let it go back, get a refund - restocking fee, then go and build a desktop from pantip, but i did really want a portable powerhouse, hmm.. *cry*

According to this I will pay about $4000 in tax when it arrives.. is this for real? Ive looked around for what CIF value means and cannot find anything.. if its paying 7% tax + small fee I dont mind.. but paying 100% of the products value i will just have them return it to sender and not pay

i cant afford to spend that much but its a shame I cannot buy a laptop this powerful within thailand so i have to import.

anyone ever buy large items for personal use and remember how much duty they paid?
