I say give the police even more power to fleece the public. If you are commuting the terrible crime of talking on the phone you should be shot, skinned and then everything you owned goes to Joe Ferrari to pay his legal bills. At least it’s a slight distraction from all of the crying and gnashing of teeth of the covid worries, begging for more masking and boosters.

It’s also in addition to paying for a visa and a re-entry permit. It’s also not about the money it’s about where it goes. If someone reached into your pocket and took 300 baht would you be happy? Since it’s the government you are ok with it as long as it goes to cover all of these “health care costs” for people you don’t know. Lick some boots of these criminals a bit more please.

If they are jabbed and boosted can you please tell me when a more appropriate time is? We have been doing the same thing for 2 years now. At some point you need to shut up, man up and live your life. If you think everyone should stay at home afraid of the sniffles I say go pound sand.

I’m sure you follow every law written. The word hypocrite can be tossed around if you have ever not wore a helmet on a motorcycle, not used a cross walk or a long list of other laws designed to tax you for no be benefit to society.

Remind us, how much tax is there currently on a ticket into Heathrow, or do you believe international visitors have a one way ticket.
This is what it was 5 years ago for Heathrow.
It is a warped mentality that thinks Thailand should be free and other countries charge what they want.
Government, authority and airport charges
Per adult

Very strange. I thought this thread was about a tax on tourists coming into Thailand. Nice job justifying bad behavior with bad behavior though. I will give you only half credit since you really should’ve made the post about you in some way.

You think its good for any of us that 20% of Thailands GDP is devastated forcing millions into more severe financial desperation than they ever were ?
And who devastated the industry? Who went along with the policies that decimated it and continue to go along with it? Call it victim blaming but at some point it’s true. If you keep getting beat up walking home and never change your route at what point to do get what you deserve?

Why is it that Thailand doesn't check vaccinated people? In Europe, you can't go to work or public indoor places without a Green Pass. Here, they have those silly temp checks everywhere which are basically useless.
I agree that proof of vaccination isn't a total guarantee, but it's a good step in that direction, and they could let many business stay open with reduced risk. Also, as a plus, encourage reluctant people to get vaccinated (I know the no-vaxx will hate this).
Why not just treat people like adults, if you don’t feel well stay home. It seems to be the way things were done prior to 2019. The human race is still here so maybe that worked. History shows what happens when tyrants start asking for papers please. A guy with a funny mustache did something close to it in the beginning.

Not the alcohol, it's the environment it's consumed in.
And your statistics on this are? Maybe you are going to quote the health minister that said when you drink your throat muscles relax and you are more likely to spread the virus that way. Clowns all around.

No. Wrong.
Even if fully vaxxed and boosted, one can still carry the virus. The viral load may be less than in an unvaxxed person, and the immune system might clear the virus faster, but even a fully vaxxed person can pass on the virus.
Masks are not perfect by any means, but some virus---carried primarily through water droplets that dwarf the size of the virus itself---is stopped. If that results in even one vulnerable person not catching Covid and suffering or dying, it seems worth it. If one is incredibly selfish or thinks masks infringe on their 'free dumb', then they should stay home and avoid Thailand. Too many foreigners insist on imposing their own belief system on other countries. Obviously these same foreigners would be outraged if a visitor to their country ignored local laws, requirements and customs, and just did as they pleased.
Thailand has established some rules, such as wearing masks in crowded places, shops, convenience stores, etc. It is both polite and respectful for visitors to obey those requirements---even if some Thais do not. If someone doesn't like that, stay out of Thailand. Some foreigners are such prima donnas.
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/12/24/health/cloth-mask-omicron-variant-wellness/index.html
Read what is said about cloth masks being little more than facial decorations. I also wonder how you feel about laws in the Middle East. They pass laws like you can stone your wife for adultery or you can throw a homosexual off the roof. Should visitors be respectful and follow those rules also? Asking for a friend.

May I add, which will be criticised - I am sick of seeing so many farangs walking aroung Hua Hin Market Village and BluPort without masks; and in the nice littled gated communited I live in, maybe 20% of the farangs wear masks when they are walking around outside their properties. And their nosiy teenage kids, never wear masks.
Why don’t you say something to them? If you are so sick of it man up and do something about it. Maybe it would be easier to hide behind the boot of the law. Call immigration and get all of these dirty people deported. Maybe you just would rather complain about the noisy kids online.

7 hours ago, Sheryl said:The issue for the UK is the impact on health services. Although hospitalizations with Omicron are shorter in duration and less often lead to death, the numbers of hospitalizations are rising so rapidly that the system could soon reach or exceed capacity. At the same time, staffing levels are affected by large numbers of medical personnel themselves falling ill.
There is a genuine need to try to slow down the rate of spread in the UK at this point to ensure that the system can handle it and people in need of health services (for all illnesses) don't lack access.
Slow down the rate, not halt the spread - the second is impossible.
The UK health care system has had 2 years to prepare. They are at risk of being over ran if a bus crashes with 19 people injured. Just 2 more weeks to slow the spread.

Mass vaccination campaign?
Only 61% double jabbed and only 7% boosted.
Thailand can't even catch up with other countries, let alone have any chance of getting ahead.
Who can book a holiday when you haven't a clue what the rules of entry will be in advance.
What about the people that had and recovered from covid? Why should people be getting boosted after just getting the second shot? How about the people with health issues or advanced age being vaccinated. If you are 20 years old and healthy it seems like their vaccination status should be something like who cares. I’m seeing a lot of these amazing “breakthrough cases” of people double jabbed and boosted.

The booster helps a lot. Why is it so hard to comprehend viruses mutate and vaccinations need to keep up with it. Without vaccines we’d be so much worse off. Give it a few weeks and if people in hard hit countries don’t start dropping like flies then we should just let it spread with adequate protection.
I think we all should be on our 8th booster now that seems to be making things so much better. Imagine having an immune system that fights diseases. It is impossible because the human race died off centuries before because we didn’t have vaccines to fight off the Omicron variant. The sniffles made everyone drop like flies.

Here in Thailand we first have to party and when that is over and there are a spike in new infections we start to think about what the people did wrong... Not fuly vaccinated or too long ago, false ATK results, no masks wearing and of course not to forget too much alcohol.... Nobody like that the celebrations would be cancelled, but sometimes it is better to prevent than have a new lockdown afterwarths again... There are more years to come
Your welcome to stay home and prevent the spread all you want. To tell everyone else to stay home and hide in fear all I have to say is shut up.

I can only see the following benefit..... if you suspect or are told you have been in contact with an infected person, get tested, to determine whether you should self isolate... hence limit the rate of spread.
(Although if omicron is mild as rumoured, it would be a better approach to just let it spread).

I didn't even get to sit in the initial chair line for more than a minute. Immigration lines were very short. I walked right up to be stamped to enter. They didn't have the expedited lines for business or first class and they didn't need them.
Taxi service was provided by the hotel and their staff met me and others at the airport and organized your ride to the hotel. I rode alone having traveled alone and the driver's section was sealed off from me by clear plastic.
I did the Bangkok Sand Box, but because I wasn't in the U.S. for 21 consecutive days, I am quarantined for 7 days. I even have 2 vaccines and a booster. (Not bragging. I only got the shots to come home. If the situation was different I wouldn't have gotten them.) After you arrive, you get the 1st RT-PCR test and wait 24 hours (or so. My wait was less. This was my 3rd PCR test this week for traveling.). If negative, you're allowed to go outside, but have to finish the quarantine. When I say you can go outside, I mean they let you go, say for example, to the mall you're hotel is attached to. So, you're not a prisoner inside the hotel. Basically I guess you can go anywhere, but you have to return to the hotel. The 6th day you had to do a self test or you can have the nurse on staff do it.
The hotel and staff are very nice and the room is huge and clean. The floor I'm on is a restricted floor. Only people on quarantine can go up and get out on that floor. You have to use your key card on the elevator before you push the floor button or a woman's voice announces loudly "you have selected a restricted floor."
All in all, it hasn't been bad except for missing a week with my family. I wouldn't want to make them sick, so it's worth it to me.
Imagine just getting your passport stamped, getting on the bts and going about your life. Wasn’t that the reason for the jab? If you have been jabbed and tested why are you still being treated like a leper?

No comparison between the lives lost so far to the number dead in road accidents. 21,149 deaths since covid started but the majority of deaths from Covid are from just March of this year to now. 12k in road deaths is 43% of the Covid deaths.
So what about years of life lost? A 20 year old compared to someone in their 80’s. That is the comparison. Covid kills the old with underlying conditions. A motorcycle getting run over by a truck seems to affect the younger, healthier population before impact.

He wants Thai's to holiday more.
That's like standing in a bucket and trying to lift it.
And why is everyone talking only about tourism. That's only 15-18% of GDP. What about the other 82-85 % ?
Why isn't the government doing more to promote industry ? Every week there are stories of immigrant workers crossing the border to take THAI jobs Maybe imposing a decent minimum wage would create more jobs for Thai's .
And would it be asking too much that farmers get a decent price for their goods. 13 million farmers subsist on a few hundred baht a day , if that. Not enough to take time off and spend on hotels and restaurants. A farmer might get 5 baht for a kilo of vegetables that took months to grow . And Lotus's sells it, a week later, for TRIPLE the price. Not exactly fair !
Raising the minimum wage will really stop migrant workers from crossing the border. Lol If the government is doing such a great job now (maybe not) give them more power and control.

Just 2 more weeks to slow the spread. Temporary lockdowns to protect the health care system. Just close the schools to protect the elderly. Keep your business closed to contain a possible cluster. Get your 5th booster to prevent a variant. Seems to be working after 619 days.

with beer and no mask, sitting close together and being very happy...
Of course they will pass on their germs ! Is that so difficult to understand ?
Beer and friends makes happy, close together, passing on all sorts of germs including
covid 19.
Keep the booze places locked ....................the neighbourhood get togethers are enough
Yes keep it all closed or the covid boogie man will get you. Make sure you sleep with the lights in or it will come out from under your bed also and get you. Just imagine how terrifying it is to see people living their lives and having fun, without being afraid of germs. I wonder if they know that at some point in their lives they will die.
Non O extension : Yellow book, Pink ID
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Some people say they have been able to get the Thai prices going into national parks with the pink ID. Some say they use it to check into hotels. Some say drivers license gets them the Thai prices sometimes. The dual pricing will still happen and you can use your wife’s ID or your drivers license/ passport when doing pretty much everything anyways. I see basically zero benefits to jumping through the hoops to get.
