  1. Last time I did it was a Baht Bus that I collared at the end of the road. He phoned his mate to come and help him, did 5 trips between them (not far, about 10 mins), and I didn't lift a finger all day. I agreed 500 baht beforehand, but they worked so hard for 4 or 5 hours I gave them 1,000 and they were chuffed to bits.

Sounds about the only option in Pattaya! Cheers. Just need to find an honest Baht Bus driver now :o

  2. Hi,

We are moving from a condo to a house soon and I don't want to go through the hassle again of loading up my pick up 3 or 4 times and getting the help of a few local motorbike taxi guys!

Does anyone know if a removal service exists in Pattaya? I had a quote from a BKK company the last time we moved but it would of been 15,000 THB for 3 trips and 2 hours work.

  3. no offense but you just like other guy, you ask for advice yet dont give any details of wht you trying to get into.

why dont you ask for the moon! im sure someone here would sell it to you.

No offense, but what does it matter what the products of the business are? Buying from one company and selling in Thailand where I already have market is the business nothing nerw there (I am buying and selling these things for my current employer but this is not their core business so I know I can expand this particular area) My questions are to find out experiences from people who have gone through the process of starting a business and are doing business in Thailand.

If you have any constructive advice please share, I am eager to find out your success stories.

  4. First of all I am a UK citizen currently working in Thailand and running a business in the Oil & Gas industry (yes my work permit may be a problem!) I am under no illusion of how Thai business works and already have trusted companies who will help me with the legal side of things. I am only here to find out info and previous experiences and to gather as much info as possible before I decide what I will do. I am not so stupid as to think Thai Visa is the place to come for proffesional advice on setting up a company , maybe if I was to work for Amway :o this would be the place I would come for advice!

But there are people here who do give good advice so I will keep TV in my favourites list when I want opinions about anything in Thailand!!

Thanks all for your good, bad and snidey comments!! Keep them coming!

  5. Hi,

I have an opportunity to be the Thailand distributor for a US based companies products. I wan't to know what would be the easiest way to set up this business to start operating asap as I already have buyers and the company can supply the product anytime I am ready.

Thai owner and me as a partner?

Me as the sole owner? Is that possible?

    What are the costs involved?

How much money would I have to have in the bank?

Basically any info to point me in the right direction for setting up a small business.

    Thanks in advance

  6. Thank you all for your answers and advice, very helpful and reassuring.

We have just returned from Hong Kong (another 90 day stamp on my g/f's Passport) However we had a problem with Emirates check in staff before they would let her travel. They insisted that the 90 day in 6 month rule must apply for all countries and they asked for a document stating that Brazil was exempt from this. After a stand off they agreed to let her fly only if she signed a disclaimer stating that she was responsible for all costs etc if she was refused entry to Thailand.

Does anyone know where there is such a statement stating that Brazil nationals are exempt from the 90 day in 6 month rule? I called the Thai Immigration in Pattaya & BKK and they both told me "no problem, can come and go every 90 days" but could not give me any document backing this up.

Thanks again if anyone can assist

  7. My girlfriend is from Brazil and we are having a problem getting straight answers about how she can stay in Thailand long term. I have a work permit so no problems for me. She arrived in July 06 for one month and had a 30 day stamp on her passport. She arrived again in September and got a 90 day stamp on her passport, during this time we went to Singapore and when we came back she got another 90 day stamp. We left again in December and again when we came back another 90 day stamp. Back to Brasil in Feb and again another 90 day stamp. The immigration officials just flicked through the pages each time then looked up a chart before stamping it. This is fine until someone takes a close look at the days she has been in country and she gets booted out. Anyone have any advice on what we can do to make sure there is no problem in the future or who we can ask. Tha Brazillian consulate in BKK don't speak Portuguese!! and the staff who answer the calls no nothing about visa laws for Brazil nationals!!! Any help is appreciated.

Brazilian are exempted from visas , whenever she enters Thailand she will be granted 90days , no limitation.

Thanks for your reply. This is fantastic news! Where did you get this information from? I want to triple check before I really believe it!

  9. So you don't have to stay OUT of Thailand for 90 days after your "90 days in six months" are up then? There is a work around?

What are the "priveliged" countries cos my girlfriend is from Brazil and I cant find a list of countries this applies too. I have a visa and work permit but she doesn't and it would be an expensive visa run if she had to return to Brasil to apply for a visa!!

    Any pointers?
