  1. Best burger I've had in years was also in soi 4 recently at the Blarney Stone oppo Hillary 4. Chili cheese burger. Absolutely fantastic. Can't really tell from the pic but the patty is super thick and juicy, and the tater wedges are nice and crisp. A few onion rings on top and chili con carne spread around the plate and on the burger. Super heavy/filling meal. 460 bt. Not the cheapest, but the best.

Service could've been more attentive for customers sitting outside, and a half pint of barely chilled Guinness is an astronomic 190.....but other than that, glad I found this gem.

Not to be Islamophobic but it's a heavily Muslim country and dangerous for gay people but better in Tirana.

It all sounds great on paper but after having done a quick Google search as well as the ISG forum, it seems that err......female company, be it p4p or casual/easy, is basically non-existent or at least super difficult.

So, hard pass (for me). For now.

    But interesting nevertheless.

    Which cities are best there?

Dumagete is a popular destination these days for new falang retirees. Cebu is ok depending on the neighborhood you can afford. Manila is the same but the traffic is unbearable. Angeles City is an even worse s-hole than Patong. Loads of falang in Subic Bay.

Thousands of islands and communities of various sizes to choose from....

Having said that, it's not for everyone. Just ike LoS.

  4. Are you in a high risk group? If not i.e. hetero having "normal" non-rough vag-willy sex, then there's really no need for PreP as transmission is extremely difficult.

  5. Lol, not one of you geniuses has commented that even if the unit is converted to foreign quota, the "heir" still has to bring in the assessed value of the unit from overseas if he/she to change the title into his/her name. So either way, you are "buying" the unit (and good luck trying to wire that money out again once it has served its purpose).

  6. I lived in Poocrap for almost a decade and only just recently made my "escape".......it was nice enough 2016-2021ish and of course the scamdemic made it absolute paradise to live as a small handfull of expats were basically blessed with our ow little private island.

Post-scamdemic the change in tourist demographics has come to the point where it's unbearable. The absolute worst of the worst of various nationalities infest the island (and no, I do not mean Russians, they are generally low profile). "French" Arabs on their gay big scooters endangering everyone on the street, louty "beer is perfectly ok at 9am" young Brits/Aussies etc., whiny Europeans, dorky yanks, annoying loud Chyner herds constantly getting in the way, etc etc.

Generally bad quality pricey Thai and falang food (still laugh my azz off whenever I see a tourist forking over 180-200 bt for a lousy pineapple fried rice, lol).

Crappy condo quality. My 5 million bt "luxury" condo was, like almost all condo developments there, a total pig with lipstick. Looked nice but pathetic construction quality.

The locals (most of whom don't come from the island anyway) are IMO the most aloof of all Thais I've been around, but I don't find too many of them "unfriendly"....just not very genuine in their smiles. Mostly just the give me money give me money smirk. Pattaya/BKK/CM etc. much better, and here in Khon Kaen I finally feel like I'm living among mostly perfectly normal well adjusted human beings 99% of the time. Also have a small handful of solid falang friends who don't spend the whole time whining about the place.

Miss the beaches but overall a great decision I should have probably made years ago. Now I just fly to the Philippines for beach time. PI (7000+ islands!).

  7. My only takeaway from this post is that it takes a special kind of financially illiterate person with near zero awareness of modern standard methods of obtaining money to purchase one's home country currency overseas. Jesus Christ.
