  1. Almost no one talks about how quickly the vax wears off. Many of the articles I have read say it loses over 50% of its protection after 6 months.
  2. Now that you say it I have not seen anyone using the pool in the 4 days i have been here. chlorine might be a super spreader?
  3. I was talking about the insurance policy i had to buy to get my non immigrant O visa. My kids mum is Thai. The policy is the same policy that retirees need.
  4. My policy includes 100k USD covid cover. I am 47 years old so premiums are a bit lower.
  5. I had to get 100k USD cover for my NON-IM O. Fair enough really. People should be expected to cover their own medical costs in a foreign country.
  6. good news. i bought many phones from there over the years. even if only half of the stalls are there then their will still be plenty to choose from.
  7. no polio is a very different disease. corona acts more like a flu virus that mutates so it is very difficult to vaccinate against. the current vaccine for example is not doing so well at combatting the latest variant as it didnt exist when our current vaccines were being developed. there is no on solution to covid like there was to polio. eventually we will go to a system of annual shots for those at risk but over time viruses tend to get less dangerous so vaccines may not even be required.
  8. I used to have an unusual business in NZ. i needed burner phone and numbers. they are almost free if they are locked to a network.
  9. Will hit tukcom for a new phone and sim. need to get a camera for mu new ute as well. wonder if tukcom is open.
  10. Life wont go back till normal till everyone is exposed. this virus is not going away.
  11. Please point out which part. I am fairly sure vaxing old and fat people is a good idea. Death rate is less than 1% so vaxing say 5% of the most vulnerable should be enough.
  12. Looks like the virus has finally gone through. Of course there is no way to tell how many lives were saved by the vaccine. Can probably get a bit of an idea by comparing total deaths from year to year.
  13. Ha, good idea. Cant get my smart phone to connect to the wifi. Any of them work on a laptop?
  14. no way i could handle wearing more than a shirt and T in this climate but thanks for the entertainment. Wonder what the punishment is for absconding, not that I am going to do so.
  15. Who is anti vax? (pretty sure you are not allowed to talk about shooting people on here)
  16. Yea, similar to the flu jab before winter for those that need it. People are being oversold on how effective vaccines are. In New Zealand the govt is saying vaccines are going to end the ongoing lockdowns. A lot of kiwis are in for a nasty surprise.
  17. It seems COVID is following the path most viruses take. They become more transmissible but less lethal over time. The vaccine seems to provide very short periods of protection requiring boosters every 3 to 6 months. Will be interesting to see how many people will be willing to get jabbed so frequently and to see how many governments will be willing to wear the ongoing costs. I am not big on going anywhere with crowds so I am fine missing any of those sorts of events.
  18. A vaccine only protects the person taking it. As I am not in a high risk group its better my vax goes to someone it can actually do some good for. (if they actually work). A vaxed person still spreads and can still die of the virus so what difference would it make to anyone else? People need to look at what is happening in Israel. They have the highest vax rates in the world. COVID still spreading and lockdowns still being used.
  19. COVID finally is just starting to run through New Zealand. I am not in a high risk group for the deadly virus but our feminist PM loves to do lockdowns over just a few cases so better to move back here and keep the kids in school.
