Hey all. I haven't posted here in a while but I just want to provide you all with an update. I had my MOI interview in Nonthaburi in August last year (2024). I was expecting a similar experience to my other interviews but it was actually pretty rough. The SB officer handling my case told me I wouldn't need to sing the national or royal anthem (as I'm married to a Thai with kids) so stupidly I didn't practice for that - because I was asked to sing. Luckily I know the national anthem anyway but I wasn't able to complete the royal anthem. The official in charge was pretty strict and criticized me for not standing up straight enough when singing and how I should have worn yellow... etc. There was something about me he didn't like. I left that day feeling pretty disappointed. Anyway, I left it a few weeks then I asked the SB officer if there was any update. He informed me that the application was sent to Bangkok MOI for signing, much to my suprise. It's been there for at least 6 months. Just so the rest of the process goes as smoothly as possible, can you let me know what to expect if I get to the oath ceremony. What should I learn for this? Congratulations to all those who have obtained citizenship already!

This question is not intended to spark a political decision, so please don't. Do you think the recent elections and the current lame duck period, will put everything on hold until the new government is in place - citizenship application wise?

All my interviews were always pretty much the same in terms of the questions and I never wore a suit, just smart casual is ok. There are similar posts if you look through the hundreds of pages or you can try to search. Questions were usually like: - why do you want to be a Thai citizen - how long have you been in Thailand why did you come here - tell me about your education level where you studied - if you're married still ask about where you met your partner how long you've been together and do you have any children - what's your job and where do you work etc - ever helped Thai citizenship: charity etc - I was asked had I ever been involved in any of the mobs haha - possibly a question on HM That sort of thing.

Yes, this was the example he sent me from the previous month, and he claims I am on the next list that he will send.

Ok so I just asked him: อันนี้คือ สัมภาษณ์ที่ศาลากลางนนทบุรีแล้ว ต้องทำอะไรต่ออีกมั้ยครับ and he replied with: ไม่ครับ. So I think he thinks it is the MOI interview. Did I manage to skip the long MOI Bangkok waiting list by applying in Nonthaburi?? ????‍♂️ Time will tell. I will keep you all updated.

Well the attached list definitely has males names on it so I don't think it's exclusively for female candidates, but I'm checking. Yes it would seem likely that this is an extra step. Although annoyingly I already had all the police interviews and the written test, so another Thai language interview before MOI seems redundant, but oh well.

Ok so I asked for more clarity on what he means. As it is in another province outside of Bangkok I need to attend an interview locally in Nonthaburi City Hall. I am not sure if it's an additional step before MOI in Bangkok, or instead of. I fear it's an additional step, but I am waiting clarification. See attached the letter that they send to Nonthaburi City Hall, with it they attached a list of names for the interview which I will not share.

Oh on second thoughts I think he meant that he would just submit my docs in the next month or two. Although not certain. Can anyone decipher exactly what he means here: เดือนหน้าผมสรุปเสนอสัมภาษณ์ น่าจะ พ.ค.66 ครับ อยู่จังหวัดจะกำกนดแจ้งมาครับ

I am waiting for my MOI interview now. According to the officer handling my case (Nonthaburi branch) I should expect to be called in the next month or two. Are the interview questions similar to all previous interviews with the police? Any list of questions available? Do you need to be able to sing เพลงชาติไทย AND สรรเสริญพระบารมี?
