He wants to inform the HMRC of his future non UK residence. Why should he hide it unless he wants to commit illegal acts? Claiming to be a UK resident for financial gain such as enhanced pension, free NHS treatment etc is illegal fraud and if the UK govt finds out it will chase you until the day you die. That's why. People in UK complain about foreigners going to the UK to get NHS treatment then leaving the country without paying for it. Well that's the same as British citizens who are non residents if they make a trip to the UK and claim they are residents for NHS treatment.
I suppose the big difference is he paid into the system and not just turned up on a dinghy

I can already see it in the news clippings, the Thai murderer is being coddled, one police officer had his arm around him during questioning as if to comfort him. The poor Thai with mental health problems couldn’t control himself and was pushed to the edge by the foreigner being disrespectful to all things Thai is the narrative they’re pushing. It’s almost like they’re treating the murderer as a hero.
I think there is more to this then poor people attacked. Why were they drinking outside until 4am when drinking is a bit of a no no at moment? What where they doing? Having a quiet drink? And do agree with all other comments but let’s understand everything first

i wear a mask to follow the rules but most of us know it's a waste of time and makes little difference especially outside. Vaccines on the other hand were a game changer
Try wood working or rubbing down plaster with and without a mask and see if the mask makes a difference then. Just because cannot see it doesn’t mean it not helping.

Thai isolation for 14 days. If any symptoms hospitel or hospital.
For foreigner small chance for home isolation. I read about 2 such cases. Still has to pay 14k for antiviral medicineWhy does everyone have to go hospital? No wonder they can’t cope! Just follow the science and guild lines of other countries. Isolate at home, if getting worse or feel the need for hospital treatment then go. Or is it about money again

Life is balance. We all think getting to do the one thing we always wanted is it, but after awhile it becomes empty and looses its appeal. And the only reason for this is that you don’t have anyone to share it with and look back on the memories. Be it a good mate or a partner. Hence the feeling of loneliness

Reminds me of 6 years ago when I did the visa runs to Vientiane with the van half full of Russian estate agents getting their STV. Playing the newbie they always offered me a house 100% in my name if I buy, or a 30+30+30 transferable lease. I think there could be a lot of people in for a shock in 25 years time.
Not really. Just move to a different place. After thirty years in one place might be time for a change and a lot happens to the area, not always for the best

Problem with aiming for high class tourists and the dismantling of the sex industry is that that is probably 6-8 million jobs out the window and no new industry to employ them on the horizon.
The aim for high class tourists and no more sex industry is a fine aim, but they should not even attempt anything like that until tourism is back to 32-40 million a year and they have something in place to support their goals and start the transferring the sex industry workers and soon to be 'poor' tourism support workers to better jobs
I think that once they reopen properly they will be happy with whomever comes over to spend their money

Please please don’t or will end up like Cambodia. The Chinese may well come but the Thai people will lose out completely.

Until they drop the mandatory Quarantine no tourists will come to Thailand in big numbers. No one is going to lose 7 days and pay £2000 when rest of world is open and more welcoming

The only easing they need to do is stop the 7 day quarantine if they want tourists to return on mass. It’s that simple. Hence why Greece and Europe has opened up and doing fine thank you

I really want to come back. But no one will until the quarantine is lifted. Am not prepared to loss 7 days of a three week holiday and pay over the odds for a hotel because I have to quarantine.
This is why tourists are not coming back!- 10
