The 10 Thai provinces where less than 50% of people have been vaccinated
Farangus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My good friend, a girl from northern Isan, received the first Sinovac vaccine in October. She received an injection from Astra Zeneca last week. And on January 18, she was assigned an injection of Pfizer... A somewhat strange mix of vaccines. Moreover, after each injection, my friend loses a week of her life due to severe headache, fever and fainting ... -
I read that there are now hot lines for the Thailand Pass. Maybe you should ask them about the French language. I live in Belarus and in order to obtain a Thai visa (and it is required), I must provide all documents in English (or translation into English, which was certified by a notary). And this is a large package of documents (a certificate from a bank, a certificate from work or a certificate of registration of an entrepreneur, for people with a family - documents on marriage or kinship, sponsorship letters, etc.). It's good that air tickets and hotel reservations can always be obtained immediately in English ... As well as a certificate of vaccination.

Thai health insurance for foreigners costs about 3,000 baht per month (average price). Currently, among those who arrived, 0.1% with a positive test. This means that approximately 1 in 1000 people have a positive PCR test upon arrival. 1000 people x 3000 baht = 3 million baht for every thousand people. Even if we take into account the amount of 350,000 baht (hospital and quarantine hotel for the all family), Thai insurance companies still have 2,650 thousand baht in net profit for every thousand arrivals. Of course, the calculations are approximate, because not all arriving are foreigners, Thais do not pay for insurance (but they do not need an expensive private hospital). But in any case, this is a grandiose fraud on the part of the Thai authorities. If they really wanted to get a large number of tourists, it is enough to charge everyone 300-500 baht of special insurance that covers everything (treatment, quarantine hotel, etc.). Insurance companies will not be at a loss, but all tourists will be guaranteed to be protected from large payments and will leave much more money in Thailand for the lives of local residents. Unfortunately, the Thai authorities do not want to understand this (or are simply not interested in it).

Indeed, frightening information. I am going to travel to Thailand in January, and I need to pre invest about $ 2000 in the trip just to apply for a Thai visa (air tickets, insurance, payment for hotels, tests, transfers, etc.). I have recently been ill with Covid-19 and I hope that I have developed immunity. Also, I'm going to get vaccinated in December. What scares me most is the possibility of getting a false positive test or "bad neighborhood" on the plane. But the most important question: how can I be forced to pay for an expensive hospital or quarantine hotel? I do not use credit cards (only debit cards with my personal money). And on my card, I won't even have 30,000 baht on purpose to pay for a quarantine hotel (all accommodation is paid in advance to obtain a visa, and the main money for rest is on a bank account, which I will not tell). Will Thai police or soldiers torture me to get my relatives to transfer money? Will they tie me to a chair (like terrorists) and make a video in which I, with tears in my eyes, ask my family to send them money? Or will they put me on a return plane (who will pay for this if I don’t give money)? Any ideas?

Thailand to target ‘quality’ and first time visitors
Farangus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think that the Thai authorities understand that rich tourists will visit Thailand only 2 times at the same time - the first and the last. ???? I have seen the phrase about the Jet-ski mafia many times. Someone can explain what is the danger of this? I have used jet-ski in Phuket and there were no problems. As far as I heard, there were previously problems in Pattaya, but after the introduction of compulsory insurance, the problems should have disappeared ???? -

PM calls for country transformation after reopening
Farangus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wealthy travelers will regularly choose Thailand for their holidays only if the entire infrastructure is significantly improved. But even Thailand's current large gold and foreign exchange reserves will not allow such changes to be achieved in a short time. Too many roads and sidewalks need to be repaired, too many wires need to be buried underground. Too much has to be invested in sewage treatment plants to keep the water on some beaches (Pattaya) suitable for swimming. And too much money is needed to solve the problems of plastic waste, which is everywhere in Thailand. Too big (for the Thai mentation) changes should be in traffic, pricing, knowledge of foreign languages. Most importantly, laws must be respected and corruption free. But if the main corrupt officials are in power, this struggle is doomed to failure. Even if the government changes and there is democracy in Thailand, such large-scale changes will not be made in 1 year. It can take decades and biillions of dollars. I do not welcome prostitution, but the fact remains: this is one of the few business that brings the country many millions of dollars annually. And the repeated sale of Thai pu..sy, as a result of which the pu..sy still remains with the owner, it will always be a very lucrative and desirable job for thousands of uneducated girls. Under any government and under any laws. Moreover, foreign buyers make up only a small fraction of the total, but they are the net supplier of foreign currency to the country. -
I think these are not foreigners, but Thai citizens without vaccination or PCR test. Otherwise, we would know the nationality of these 6 "dirty farangs"

It is very interesting what the situation with the neighbors on the plane is for these 6 infected people. Were they placed in mandatory quarantine as well?

It is difficult to choose a specific option, because they are all similar and they all make sense. I voted for the "not real tourists" option because it’s hard for me to imagine that tens of thousands of ordinary tourists would want to pay a lot of extra money without ever setting foot on Thai soil. An ordinary family of 4 has to pay more than $ 600 just for PCR tests in Thailand (at the entrance and at the exit), + the same tests before the flight, + expensive insurance. And also the lack of entertainment, alcohol and the opportunity to spend a vacation not on the beach, but in an expensive quarantine (even if the insurance pays for it, the vacation will be ruined). At the same time, many will choose other options, simpler, cheaper and safer. It seems to me that even tourists from rich countries will not want to spend about $ 1000 for a family just for the right to set foot on Thai land ...

7,000 international arrivals due at Suvarnabhumi on Monday
Farangus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many hotels offer the "Room + PCR test + airport transfer" package for 6,000 baht. There are more affordable deals, starting at 4500 baht for such a package. For those who in any case chooses an expensive 5 * hotel, these are not bad offers, I think. Insurance ... It's still really expensive. And I still can't find offers with $50,000 coverage (i see only $100,000). I think the price should be lower for a smaller coverage. -
Thailand entry rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists
Farangus replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
This is not the first time I have seen the mention of a direct flight, but I have not seen the official information. If this is a valid demand, then it is terrible. There were never any direct flights from my country to Thailand, even before the outbreak of the pandemic ... -
COVID-19 Tests, Insurance Required for Quarantine-free Visitors

Unfortunately, this is really done by our government and special services. But not ordinary people. -

I see a recommendation to buy insurance on the $ 50K website covid19.tgia org, but there is only insurance for $ 100K for (32 million baht) for 4500 baht (60 days). How do I Choose $ 50K Insurance Coverage? -
My Thai girlfriend reads a lot. There are about 300 books in her room that she bought. Sometimes I think that it would be better if she learned English ????

COVID-19 Tests, Insurance Required for Quarantine-free Visitors
Farangus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes you are right. For me, the new requirements did not make the process of traveling to Thailand much more difficult. It's just that the costs have increased. And, most importantly, everything takes at least 3 weeks. Due to the fact that in my country there is no Thai consulate, but only an honorary consulate. It charges an additional fee for its services and recommends applying for a visa no later than 21 days before the flight. By the way, Thai citizens can fly to Belarus without a visa and get it at the airport. I just have to make an invitation in advance and assure it to the Foreign Ministry. -

In addition, many countries require a Thai visa only in advance. For example, thai tourist visa in my country: -Hotel reservations for the entire duration of the trip -Bank statement on the availability of funds (at least 20 thousand baht) -Certificate from work about the position and the period of vacation (now I checked and did not find this requirement anymore). -Air tickets to both sides (with payment confirmation). -2 visa application forms with photos * All documents must be in English (or with an English translation certified by a notary). Traveling to Thailand has never been too easy for me, but now this quest has become even more difficult and expensive ... -
Thailand Pass To Entice More International Tourists
Farangus replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think it would be much easier to carry out express tests during the flight 1-2 hours before landing in Bangkok. And then, at the immigration counter, just show this test. And if everything is ok, move freely throughout Thailand. Of course, the scheme is not ideal (you need control over the correctness of the test on the plane), but for tourists it would be much easier.
