It is true and I have the paperwork to back it up ("fit to marry paper" translated and notarized from ministry of foreign affairs) , my only worry is if he would then instead say that I'm on wrong visa. Guys, I see a lot of comments that I'm abusing the system etc. I've been in thailand to live with my girlfriend. Last time I checked there is no "gf visa". Also visa types are made up by thai officials for the most common reasons, there is not a visa for every situation why somebody might want to stay in the country. There are other countries that understand that better and offer longer/easier stay on blanket tourist visas. Or again, maybe I was just part of the 'DMK crackdown' as otherwise I had zero issues staying for almost 5 years in the country. The "good cop" of the duo who gave me issues that one time at DMK even suggested to me that I should try re-enter on ED visa if I want to continue to live here, as many are doing so he said. So seems like some IOs are more understanding than some members here...

Thank you. In 2019 I was actually sent back to Malaysia where I did my tourist visa runs. I have been staying on 60 day tourist + 30 day extension for 1.5 years at that point. The IO at DMK asked me that exact question "What are you doing here?" and looked in his computer that I've been here in tourist visas for 1.5 years. I just answered I stay here with my girlfriend, I rent a condo, etc. But at that time I did't know about the 20k THB requirement... so that may have been why?

I have been in Thailand since before the pandemic started, which is over 2 years now, first on ED then volunteer and now covid extensions. I will be going to Cambodia in 2 weeks and apply for a tourist visa. I am worried that on my way back at the Thai airport, the officer will leaf through my pages, see all the covid extensions and ask me what I am doing here. How should one answer that question generally and specifically in this situation as to not get sent back at the airport? And how likely would that even be, if I have 20k THB cash on me?

Cambodia or Wait for Vietnam ("visa run")

I would not believe anything I read on a "blog". I have found a lot of the information is either outdated or plain wrong. People make blogs to make money off of them. I would just stick to reports and info from real people who want to share in information, and from official resources. -
Covid extension issues?

That was still last year, before they changed the requirements. -
Obtaining Tourist Visa from Vietnam
zugzug123 replied to zugzug123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What are the current entry requirements into Cambodia? And is there any info on how many days I should plan for to get my tourist visa in PP? My current plan is: 1) Get covid insurance, book hotel, and return flight approx. for the date I expect to have my visa from Phnom Penh 2) Apply for Thailand Pass 3) Fly to Phnom Penh and apply for Tourist visa 4) Re-enter Thailand after I get my visa How likely is it that I would be turned away if I try to enter with tourist visa and 20k THB cash money if I have been previously on volunteer visa from TVC + 4 covid extensions? -

Is the Phnom Penh embassy the best one to use in Cambodia? -
Covid extension issues?

Couldn't tell you as I was not able to obtain there one ???? I was sent away because I was lacking some document, and when I said that my extension is running out soon and I don't have enough time to get that document, he shrugged and said I can apply 45 days in advance. -
It would probably not work if you are from a primarily English speaking country, but it's possible to get an ED visa to study English in Thailand, yes. By the way, ED visa is not only to learn Thai, you can get an ED visa to study many things that is taught in schools/universities. I know somebody who did his MBA here ????
