  1. Right before covid hit I was in a gogo with a friend. Amazed at all the fat and flab. No joke, my 45yo 42kg wife (43) had far better shape then the vast majority and only a few were kinda attractive. Big gogo in Cowboy.
  2. Gambling: just a tax on the poor and simple minded. Let the rest go abroad. Lottery is stupid enough
  3. Poipet. Zero footprint, shoved up right to the border. Gambling.. always the hallmark of winning governments.
  4. I believe that's much of the problem... it's not *the law*. Rather, some vague articles were cited none of which I absolutely guarantee mandate two year sentences for water play. Articles hardly seem like typical codified criminal code although I admit to knowing nothing about it. Seems a reference to a larger document perhaps even the last / newest / latest constitution. Personally, I'm very anti water guns, idiocracy. Really detest this juvenilsm but you need proper laws and penalties and not just threats.
  5. ???????? Excuse mongering to keep status quo in place. Airport testing, political lockdowns. It's over
  6. I was referring specifically to a condo. I was under the impression that marital assets are split when aquired within the marriage.
  7. Incidentally, if you get wrongfully clocked at a bar by staff go try to get some justice by the cops. They won't so much as take a report. Just as well if you were to push the issue and somehow impossibly got someone up on a charge you can expect some very serious trouble then. But that would never happen. This is just a situation that the media got hold of the brouhaha and the cops had to *do something*. That something is say... y'all keep it down now ya hear!
  8. Pattaya is a very dangerous place. In lesser years I'd lived there mostly in low season 2001-8 a heyday for USD GBP. It's full of dangerous vice, misery and thuggery.
  9. Lol A veritable tsunami. Yes, technically the high season really pretty much over around March 15 as it warms here and Europe but I'm trying to humor you. Even when I was a backpacker in the early 90s 300b was about rock bottom. Perhaps a dorm bed. This is all pure speculation on your part. I recall 20 being a legal limit for foreign teachers?? Surely they'd no degree. Again, wild speculation. Multiple posts on ajarn.com for these jobs. Apparently few takers. Waves and waves
  10. As Thailand was modernizing and families shrinking I've started to wonder what all the singles, childless couples will do without their offspring to support them in their later years? Life gets extremely precarious for seniors here. It will grow ever more so as Thailand's economy creaks along, modernization, etc. Just like the world a hollowing out of middle class.
  11. I love the Andaman but stay well clear of Phuket and PP. Probably a speedboat manifest or snorkel boat excursion.
  12. Thanks for that. The will needs an executor. Wife can handle that. Looking at a few bank accounts and a condo by law she's entitled to half by marriage anyway. Doesn't seem especially complicated.
  13. Thanks. SCB was easiest for a box but I'm now at Bangkok, Krungsri. Only a minor account. Many dox are available online or via state agencies if need be. I'm a bit worried about the banknotes but whatever. Thank you lopburi.
  14. I think there are relatively few landholders and they have *enough* money to tide their families over. Therefore, they can sit on the land in perpetuity. Especially true in BKK. The individual sellers are just chancers happy to put a sign out and wait years. Marginal land from Krabi to Nothaburi ridiculous prices. Condos are stagnant. Much the same story. Banks won't let land go *under market* they'll have to take the loss on the books.
  15. No. We are living in Thailand and have no plans to return. Yes. I have US safety box. I need to make my wife beneficiary, co signed in event if untimely demise. I think I need to bring the documents and old banknotes over sooner or later just worried about fire. I'll need to dump the metals. I'm just going to need another five years. Adding a family member is complicated. A trusted friend possible.
  16. Thank you, some good information there. For my safety box the bank wants a SS/TIN. I'm presuming my 401k as well. It's possible it's not a legal requirement but rather a data field entry.
  17. I'm finding that whether it's for a will, safety box beneficiary or tax break I'm going to have to suck my wife into US tax system. How much hassle is it to get a tin for her? As a side note: social security benefits upon my death = none for widow having not lived in US five years nor holding green card. Correct?
  18. I'm looking for the best template for a simple will both myself and my wife can use. I have attached two I'd located here. Are these the best and or most useful available? The will need only cover bank account and property assests. If there is a need for a lawyer what is their role in the process? Costs for Bangkok? How does one register a will with the government then?? How should it be held? I recall reading somewhere against a lawyer holding it because they might keep the document hostage to speak. Yes, I'm aware I should have a will for my US assests as well. Does anyone know if a beneficiary can be additional named on Thai accounts? Thank you 1451048835_ThailegalknowledgeaboutWills.docx 507413266_FormsOfWillsunderThaiLaw.docx
  19. Knows the price of everything and the value of nothing
  20. That's not true in the West? More likely relatives actively trying to steal inheritances.
