Thank you very much..That is what I unfortunately thought..
My mistake to have trusted the guy (farang) and invested in his property only based on promises he made and he doesn't respect now.

it never ceases to amaze me how thoroughly obnoxious some people are.
All credit goes to those who know what this site is about and genuinely try to help.
Unfortunately we lost Ubonjoe who was always nice, helpful and so much aware of all these points.
He was always answering (even for the 20th time at saamee question) being always courteous..
Have a great day.. Hope the answers given can help.. would be good to know if all got all right

Hello
Same for me..Was buying all my meat there when Noel was there..After he left lots of different butchers appeared and went..One guy from Philippines was not bad..I don't buy any beef there since new company took over and all is way too expensive..Same company took over meat department in Foodland with same price range..Hardly see anyone buying...
I think generally speaking sales are not good and the bakery surely faces also a lack of customers..Quiche and everything is there but in less quantity and on top of it they totally changed the display, so, have to look around to find what you're looking for

Forgot to answer one point..
When you leave France you're covered for max 3 months by french social security (travel purpose)
Therefore I recommended contracting CFE during this 3 months period..
Don't forget to change your tax department you're moving abroad and you will then be on Centre des non residents Noisy le Grand center..Depending if you have only 1 pension or various, this will reduce your tax..Also inform your retirement pension companies as you won t pay any CSG/Crds on your pension..
For tax too difficult to explain it on the site and also is of no interest for majority of participants..
If you need infos pls send a private message

Is the protection ok ? Is it affordable ? I guess it’s reassuring to have this covered.Did you advise to subscribe before or after leaving France. I didn’t get it.I don’t know where I’ll choose to live yet. I thought I would hop from place to place for at least a year before settling on a more permanent basis. Did you choose to buy a condominium or house or have chosen to keep on renting ?I’ve only visited Thailand for three months some time ago. I didn’t get to know phuket, pattaya nor hua hin so I have to explore more and check out those places. I’m not too worried about the location as I can take some time before making up my mind.Thank you,
Hello
You can see covering details and price on CFE website.. Advantage is the price, you are covered mainly 60 to 65 % of spent money..Also they take in charge preexisting health conditions (which usually are excluded by private insurances)
Pls note that maximum price taken into account for refund is the price for same treatment in France..if you avoid private luxury hospitals it is OK..we go to Queen Sirikit, excellent doctors and reasonable price.
We had purchased a condo but sold it recently taking into account this would be a problem for our kids when time comes and we now rent..
Finally we find it better..we took a 3 years contract as it was our choice..but you can take shorter ones..Also, renting allows you to move if you wish or...if noisy neighbours have appeared, which happens here and which is a difficult issue to solve..

Hello
We are french and retired here for nearly 10 years..We had before spent 5 years in Thailand from 2000 and 2005..
We also stayed in other countries ..India..South America and to tell the truth, even if it is not perfect here (which country is ?) we enjoy it here..
First of all, go for a O visa (not for OA visa as this would require an expensive health thai insurance)
As a health insurance go for CFE (caisse francais de l etranger) and subscribe at least before 3 months after leaving France)..
Then choose where you would like to live... Islands are nice for holiday, but for long term not so much..Phuket, climate seems to us quite humid "tropical"..Chiang Mai, cold in winter + no sea + haze issues
...so we are happy with Pattaya choice..we live a bit outside, right on the beach, climate is good, all types of restaurants to go out, not far from airport or Bangkok, good hospitals and close to Bangkok if you still need better ones..
We understand your wish to leave France, as we wouldn't like to go back at any cost

Thank you very much.. I think I will replace the bathtub by similar one.. I will also ask Homepro how much they charge (price might be different as they have to remove the preexisting bathtub)
I won t upgrade as I am only the tenant of the condo and landlord does not want to do anything.. Bathtub is actually I think the one which was put when the condo was built 30 years ago.. Yes it is fiberglass and impossible to clean.. i tried all products and also scrubbing even with metal sponge does not remove the existing dark brown stains..

Hello
I have progressive lens on a silhouette frame..
If you talk about Rutnin hospital I would not recommend buying lenses there, when I checked last time I went there, they were very expensive (when medical checking is at very fair price for excellent service)
If in Pattaya go to Pattaya optical on Klang not far from previous Topp s supermarket.
Good price, good quality serious and competent and owner is English fluent

Thanks a lot.. Checking on internet I found this also and few other ones..My concern is to know if it really is OK for sometime..in fact a basic white new bath tub comes to the same price than the paint..the problem is to find a decent reasonably priced plumber to fit it in..

Hello
What could be a reasonable price for a 30 Sqm ceiling repainting (white on white)..
To be done in Ban Amphoe..if the guy is a handy man, could also replace a bath tub (same size as old one) this in order to give some more work and get more interest.. Any reco ?
Thanks a lot

Good morning
I rent a condo and landlord doesn't make any maintenance/improvement.. The bathtub is in good shape but the colour is totally ruined..I saw abroad that some paints exist to "refurbish" this type of equipment..Anyone already did that ? Does this type of paint exist in Thailand (brand and type please) and in case, will this paint last (I 99% use the separate shower but would like the bathtub to look better)
Thanks everybody in advance for feedback

Hello
I really understand how you feel as we had the same issue 3 years back when a Thai lady with kids came to live above us..The younger child about 6 years old kept running all over the place.. on top of it, early morning and late night, she was pushing furnitures.. She was very rude when asked to solve the issue and the ex husband we informed when he visited said at this age children cannot walk very well, therefore banging the feet on the floor !!
We contacted a specialist in Europe to try and solve the issue and answer was, it is easy to isolate from top but not that much from underneath..His advice was to do what you plan to do but to keep the false ceiling hanging and dissociate it on the sides from the walls..
We decided to put our condo for sale and fortunately managed to sell our condo and now rent somewhere else..
Management was aware.. didn't do anything.. noisy neighbour didn't either..so better to go than getting the hassle..
Should it happen again in our new location we would move... Nobody cares about noise in this country..

Good morning
I am refurbishing my guest bathroom (used only a few weeks per year).. For the moment there is a "shower heater" apparently with a "hand" shower and 2 taps in the lower part of the shower
I change the shower system to fix a rain shower mixer
The existing water (or shower) heater is not working any more (just moved in 2 months ago and never checked)
In Homepro I had a look at the "instant" systems to get hot water and prices go from 2000 till 7000 or more.. They gave me a type of explanation I could not understand saying I should go for the more expensive ones as I could not set a shower heater but a water heater.. The employee finally told me that if I use what they call shower heater, the guarantee would not work and it would break very soon as not adapted for my shower system..I don t understand what they try to explain and frankly speaking as it will be used only a few weeks per year (even maybe not as guests mainly come in summer time) I am not ready to go for expensive water heater unless really compulsory.
Could someone explain me what I should buy and why ?
Thank you very much in advance

Thai doctor in Swiss expat case says she has ‘stress’
in Phuket News
Posted
Hello
The swiss guy was wrong.. there is no excuse about kicking anyone (man or woman) for no reason (even if you have a reason to react, no violence should be accepted).. This guy has obviously anger management issues and surely thought he could do anything without facing backlash..
Then, the social media bashing leading to foreigners bashing all over the place and for weeks is also totally out of control..
OK she was kicked ... the guy deserves a punishment..
But on the other hand did this have any physical consequence ? the answer is no apart maybe from a few bruises..
Apparently this girl went abroad to study medicine and in this case she surely is not the basic daddy s girl unable to stand any issue.. The best proof is that she did not hesitate to go to complain to the guard, call the police and then organize with her family the social media drama..
If being a doctor she is unable to stand any stress, I wonder how she will be able to act in her job.. Post traumatic stress just for being kicked in the back.. according to me, it is a joke.. Hopefully the court will be able to take into account the real damage she suffered without accepting the overreaction and drama
