These escalators are easily 25 years, or more, old. Well past their sell by date. The wee lads shocking injury was a taste of what was to come, but as usual our hosts did naff all and then the awful injury to the lady just recently followed.

I find it very hard to have sympathy for this woman. The poor baby was going to have a lot to deal with when it grew up. Fate dealt the right cards here, methinks.
