  1. Hello ,

    South African passport for reference.

    - ED visa , full time degree, about to get a 1 year extension for yr 2 studies

    expires 17 oct 23’

    - Passport old:

    expires 2030

    pages are finished (2-3 left)

    - ed visa and re entry affixed

    - the passport was ‘cancelled’ for use exiting the South African border (exit stamp SA in new passport) but the actual book itself has no indent, cuts, changes or cancellation in a sense.

    - Used old passport and informed DMK Imm. That I need to transfer the visa , but then the re entry stamp was scratched over with pen and the entry stamp was placed in old not new.
I was told to go to CW for transfer

    - Passport new

    - expire 2032

    - made a month ago in South Africa

Left Bangkok during uni holiday for the renewal as the BKK embassy takes 6-8 months minimum to process.

    - the dedicated visa faculty at campus mentions that I was supposed to have a letter that says my passport has changed, so that when I get my extension, it is put into the new passport , since the new passport number will reflect everywhere internally.

what is expected at CW during the visa renewal and what is expected to happen for transfer

    best regards

My first choice would be Bangkok Christian Hospital on Silom. You might have to see a doctor first but not expensive.

But there are many small MRI/X-Ray clinics. I once had an MRI done in such a place but I can find the result to look on the envelope.

Thank you Neal , it would be amazing to find a smaller clinic

Bangkok Christian Hospital - Is there a specific day or can I go in at any time ?

X-rays are inexpensive, even at the hospitals known for being more expensive.

i.e. An X-ray at Bangkok Hospital will cost you around:

    - B1600 - X-Ray

    - B500 *Nurse Fees & other charges

    - B650 Physician fee

    Thanks Richard !
Apart from Bangkok Hospital, do you perhaps have any more recommendations ?

I'm unsure of whether an appointment is necessary as well

Some essential annotations will be made in your new passport, and you will then receive an entry stamp in the new passport reflecting the end date specified on your re-entry permit.

If you have been out of Thailand for more than a few days, also expect to be interrogated as to how you can still be studying after failing to attend class for x weeks. Ideally, you have a letter from your university that explains that they knew in advance of your departure, and that it does not affect your qualification to continue with the course.

    - I study at Thai Chamber of Commerce (not a language course, 3 year degree), and it was summer holidays , I have been out for 28 days , with round trip tickets

Will there be any extra payment req?

  5. Hello ????

I have a ED visa - and I have travelled to my home country for a passport renewal (pages finished), I exited with a re entry permit valid until Oct 2023.

My old passport expires 2030 , but cannot be used for international travel - it is physically with me
    I fly into DMK airport.
What would the process be when I am flying back to Thailand

Thanks ! Sorry if I missed a point

    1. Where will you be applying to the non-ed visa?

A police clearance is not required if applying at immigration.

    See: https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/3.FOR-EDUCATION-NON-ED.pdf

Not all embassies require a police clearance to apply either.

    1. I can apply anywhere, i'm already in bangkok , Can i apply at bkk immigration?

The main point is that i entered on 30 day visa free

  7. Hello!

I've been accepted into a private university here in BKK,
    1. I have a south african passport, entered with 30 day visa free entry

    2. I have the list of documents and assistance needed from the university. (stamped and certified)

    Here is my issue,

    I'm already in BKK,

    1. A requirement for the visa is police clearance , my country needs me to visit a police station in my country in person for fingerprints. If i go to the SA embassy in Phloen Chit, it can take up to a year for clearance
Any way to have a work around ?

    2. Is it possible to change my visa to a ED visa without leaving thailand ?

Even if it is possible to get the visa admin done here and then leave to a neighbouring country and return?

    Any help ,i'd be grateful

Google Thai embassy in the country you have residence in. They have all the options but one year tourist visa is not one of them.

ASpecial Tourist Visa (STV) is for 9 months with lots of requirements. Unless you're 50+ or married to a Thai, an STV or 60 day tourist visa extendable by 30 days is likely to be your longest visa stay

I’m in Thailand for 90 days already

entered with 30 day exemption, 2 extension

What can I do for STV ?

What is The maximum amount of times I can extend ?
