  1. Hi, I understand that I can put a thai friend as my local guarantor in Thailand on the visa application form. However, can someone please explain what are there responsibilities in agreeing to this? I am applying for the O-A long stay visa from Hong Kong and am a UK national aged 57. I would just like to understand what I am asking them to agree to and why. Thanks.
  2. Skate wash thank you for the additional clarification. Assuming I will want to extend my stay for another 12 months using the same O-A visa. Am I correct in understanding I would just purchase another 1 year long stay insurance prior to going to do my extension of stay request?
  3. Thank you all for your comments. With regard to immigration checking my insurance documents both on arrival and as part of the visa application process. I currently already have medical insurance that I renew each year via AXA in the UK that has unlimited cover although the policy does have a GBP10,000 excess I would have to pay before any claim is covered. My intention is to give this to the local thai consulate to process my visa application and once it is approved to then also apply for the local 1 year long stay insurance policy that would not have any excess. My question is whether the UK policy with a GBP10,000 policy excess is sufficient at least for the visa application part or if I should pay for the 1 year long stay insurance and submit this with the application. The issue with this though as o see it is that the visa application process itself could take up to 2 months so it’s likely I could be paying for.a 1 year long stay insurance whilst my visa application is still being processed. Does anyone know the best way to approach this? Thanks.
  4. Hi, I am applying for an O-A visa from my local consulate in Hong Kong. Once this is issued I understand it is valid for 1 year but is this validity period from the date it is issued to me in Hong Kong or the date I enter Thailand with it? Thanks.
  5. Thank you. Will just put a friends details on it then.
  6. Hi, on the O-A long stay visa application form it asks for the name and address of a Local Guarantor. Does anyone know what this is used for? Will stay at my condo so could either put the Juristic person as the contact or my local thai friend but would like to let them know what it’s for? Thanks.
  7. Thanks, I am still figuring out whether to go see my girlfriend in Singapore once the thai visa is approved and fly from there or whether to fly direct from HK. Will see what flights would be doable if the visa is approved and use that though would like to be able to change it later without messing up the visa process.
  8. Thank you, that makes sense. What about the flight number is it ok to leave this blank?
  9. I am currently in the process of filling out my application form for the O-A long stay visa application to submit to my local thai consulate in Hong Kong. One of the questions is Date of Arrival in Thailand and flight number. As the visa process can take awhile to process I would prefer not to put a specific date or flight details on this as my arrival date will mostly depend on when the visa gets issued as I have to give 1 months notice to my landlord etc. does anyone know the best way to approach this and if I can just put “to be confirmed after the visa is issued.”? Thanks.
