  1. Just got my TRIPLE entry in Penang..... No problem!

I would advise to use an agent, they do everything and cost 200 Baht extra!

    Total cost 3,200 Baht or 320 RM. (100 RM per entry x 3 + 20 RM commission)

I guess you can use any agent but I used the "Bookstore" at the entrance of the Swiss Hotel.

Give your passport + 2 photos before 10am, it is ready the next day at 2.30pm.

    Enjoy Georgtown.

BTW: I drove to Satun from Phuket (5 hours) took the ferry to Langkawi 500 Baht for return, duration 1 hour 15 min, stayed in Langkawi for a few nights, then the ferry to Penang 1,000 Baht for a return, duration 2 hours and 30 minutes. Back ferry Penang- Langkawi @8.30am with a connection to Satun @1.30pm.

    Good luck!

  2. Two questions:

    1. The only time I tried to get a 60 day tourist visa was last December in Jakarta. They required that I have an airline ticket out of Thailand which I didn't have. Does Penang also ask, or have you heard of them ever asking, for this?

Does Penang ask for an airline ticket out of Thailand if your request a 3 entry tourist visa?

I think the original question was how long one could renew tourist visas to visit Thailand, as most countries limit you and then one must leave the country for a min period eg 6 months.

Question: What about Thailand? They allow this proces iinfinite?

  3. Just to add to the above post you can even apply for a triple entry tourist visa that will give you close to 9 months in Thailand in total................thing to be careful of is that the visa has a 6 month validity in which to use all the entries from the time of issue at the Thai Consulate NOT 6 months from when you first enter Thailand.

To clarify how it works...........you enter on the first entry and recieve a 60 day stay stamp 59 days into the stay you go to local immigration and pay a 1900 fee for a 30 day extension to the 60 day stay.........this puts you at the 90 day stage, you then nip to the closest border exit and re-enter using the second entry of the tourist visa and repeat the process...........your now at the 180 day stage...........nip to the border again and use the last entry on the visa to re-enter and recieve the last lot of 60+30 days.

Just remember all 3 entries must be used within the 6 month period from when the visa is issued though............so although we say 9 months its probably closer to 8 and a half.

If you wish to stay between 9 months and a 15 months then there is another option.............post again if you need to know about this. :o

I need some advice: I have been working in Thailand for 2 1/2 years. I just stopped working and my workpermit will be canncelled next week which means I have 7 days to leave and come back as a tourist.

I intent to stay in Thailand, I live here and I am currently looking for a new job, but this can take some time, maybe a very long time...

    1) How & where can I get a triple entry tourist visa? Just go to any Thai embassy and ask for triple entry tourist visa?

2)One more thing, my wife is on an O-visa and this is also void now. So she should do the same?

3)What is this option with 9 and a 15 months one, I would like to know!!

    4) What is the best way to go for my situation?

    5) What is this 365 day Tourist Visa Extension?

Thanks you so much for a answer

  4. Have a problem with your opening paragraph as they is no way immigration is extending your stay 90 days at a time for three years that I am aware of. Are you sure you do not have one year extensions of stay and they are reporting your address every 90 days?

    Yes, you are right.

    1. If you are on extension of stay for work you will lose that and have a week or so to depart.

    OK

    2. If you intend to remain in Thailand without a proper visa you will have to do 30 day runs.

    OK

    3. There is no resident visa but if you have 3 million baht from overseas to invest you may be able to obtain an investment extension of stay from immigration. The other option would be a new job or setting up a business. If over 50 extension of stay for retirement would also be available if you meet the pension or bank deposit requirements.

OK, if below 50 retirement permit does not apply?

    4. Leave. Her visa is tied to yours.

    OK Thanks

  5. I am working for a company in Phuket for 3 years. They always take my passport to the immigration for notification & extention of my stay for another 90 days. So I don't have to do visa runs. This all goes without any problem.

    1) However, I will stop working for this company in about 1 month, which means they will cancel my workpermit and I will have to leave the country and come back as a tourist:

    Is this correct?

    2) This will also mean I will have to do Visa runs every 30 days:

    Is this correct?

    3) Is there any other option for me? Like a Resident Visa, I have sufficient funds.

    Is this possible?

    4) My wife is on a Non immigrant O visa.

What does she have to do?

    Thanks for an answer

  6. Dear Steve,

Thank you very much for this explanation, finally I think (hope) I understand.

My non-immigrant-B VISA is indeed still valid (until September) and I am indeed (since 1 week) on an EXTENDED entry permit. I will go however with my wife to Malaysia for 2 days in next few weeks………what are the implications here?

If I travel to Malaysia I will supposedly get a new 90 day non-immigrant entry permit, right? Does this mean this automatically voids my EXTENDED entry permit which is valid until October 2004? My God …this is complicated

  7. I was working in Samui but moved to Phuket 2 months ago to work for another company. I am in the possesion of a 12 month Non-B multiple entry visa expiring in October. When I moved to Samui my previous employer cancelled my workpermit. In the mean time my new employer orginized a new workpermit for me. My new employer says that .....when my employer in Samui cancelled my workpermit that my 12-month Non-B visa was automatically invalid as well.

In other words..........if a company cancels your work permit does this mean that your 12 month Non -B Visa is invalid as well at the same time?

    Is this correct?

  8. Who can help me here?

I am working in Thailand and have a 12 month multiple entry non-immigrant B visa. My wife (European & NOT married but living together with me for over 12 years) also has a 12 month multiple entry visa non-immigrant-B visa.

We got this in the Netherlands when we went to Thailand. She however never started working in Thailand.

We have to renew our visa soon and are thinking of flying back to Europe to do this. I can get a new visa without a problem, but what about my wife?

What kind of visa does she need to apply for? She will not work in Thailand for the foreseeable future. Remember we are not married but living togehter and to complicate things further, she is Austrian and I am Dutch.

  9. FWIW

A house you can own in freehold. Land you cannot, unless you have a thai company with a business purpose. The 30 year lease is ok & safe.

Check the land title first though and make sure you have that renewal option mentioned in your lease contract. The lease contract should be made by an international law firm with experienced Thai lawyers. :o
