The time of living in Thailand continously for longer period on back to back visa/border run is over (may come back one day, who knows).

Better to stay few months outside the country before trying to come back, anyway you should think of a different visa solution.

OP, if you have problems with getting a visa, why don't you spend few months outside of Thailand, for example Vietnam is beautiful as well...

Flying out does not automatically cancel your permission to stay.

This is happening all over the world. It's called globalisation. Large companies increase their profits while workers see their fundamental rights diminished.

You can fly out without any problem and come back as a tourist also without problems, you're not breaking any law. You may have a problem if one day you want to apply for another NON O visa, then you'll need to "back-cancel" your old one (personal experience).

Why all these scammers are always full on tattoo's?

I think yes, you can. You already have got a NON O visa, so you will have to only change the reason for the extension from studying to retirement.
