Got an email this morning from Netflix. It is now available in Thailand and they are giving you a month free to try it out.

We just completed and moved into a house we had built near Cherng Talay. The wife got a blue book for the house, but I think I need a yellow book with my name in it to show my residency for Immigration purposes. Another issue is the Soi we live on does not have a name. We do get a PEA bill that has a house number on it. Where do I go to get a Yellow book, and which local organization issues names to Sois?

I found out this person is a home owner. I am now wondering if that is why she needed some residence form ( she said #20, but ???). Still curious to know if anyone else getting an extension recently has had to furnish something new in the way of documents. It would be nice to be prepared.

I presume the OP is referring to the required address reporting by the landlord.
No, this is a new requirement for the applicant applying for the Retirement Extension. In 5 years here thus far, I have never had to submit a Residence Form of any kind. This is a new requirement relayed by a recent applicant in Phuket.

A report of a recent trip to Phuket Immigration has revealed a new form required along with the previously required forms and copies. A Residence form that is different from the Residence form required of a Drivers License. The new form is a TM 20 I believe. Where it used to take about an hour to get your extension has now turned into an all day affair at the Phuket Town office. Is this new form required in other areas of Thailand? Can anyone confirm this new procedure? Also heard there is a new 90 day reporting form as well. Do you think they try to make it more onerous on expats just for fun?

Is there a grace period for renewing the one year retirement extension? Early or late?
-
cant understand why anyone living in Phuket and using the Phuket immigration would mail in the 90 day report
u have a spread of almost 21 days and you can travel to Patong or Phuket town.
It's handy if you happen to be travelling and are in Chiang Mai or Bangkok or Issan when your 90 day report is due.

If I am travelling within Thailand at the time my 90 day report is due, can I report at any local Immigration office? I live in Phuket, but if I happen to be in Bangkok, or Issan or somewhere else can I report there?

You can download the application required here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/files/file/20-transfer-stamp-to-a-new-passport-form/
Great! Does it come with a copy of MicroSoft Word? When will people learn to use some portable format, which is available for free, like PDF?
You can get LibreOffice. It is free and reads and writes all MS Office created docs, or not.

never been charged in Phuket for transferring visas
I was not aware that the "Visa", Non-O in this case, was transferred. I thought that was not possible. Was told that only the current Extension stamp was transferred.
-
Is it as simple as taking the old and new passports to Phuket Immigration and getting the required extension (retirement) stamp put into the new passport? Any documents / forms / payment required?
-
The passport would need at least 12 month on it for a 12 month extension.
Thanks....Yeah that makes sense..

Helping an American friend get his long term stay in Thailand:
Is there a reliable website that lists the requirements and documents required to convert a Tourist Visa to a Non-O Visa and ultimately a one-year extension based on retirement for the Non-O.
I think I know these:
Passport with 6 months validity.
4x6 recent pictures (half a dozen)
Completed application (multiple copies)
Medical certificate (can be obtained in Thailand from local doctor?)
Some say a Police Record clearance from home county. ( I had one years ago but no one asked for it. Is it required now?)
Monthly income verification letter from US Consulate. (2 copies)
What am I missing or can you point me to a list somewhere?
-
Thanks. Follow up question: If I use the monthly Income qualification, then I just need the notarized letter from the US consulate, and do not need money sitting in a bank account; correct?

50 year old American wants to retire in Thailand. Can he apply for the one-year retirement extension with a Tourist Visa or does it have to be a Non-O Visa?

Navionics have one think Thailand is covered in either the africa or australian one. Or it might be all the same
Sent from my GT-S5310B using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Thanks....looking at Navionics now. Pulled from Google Play because of crashes with A 4.4, but still up on iOS. Looks like Thailand is included with Africa.

I am looking for an easy to use marine navigation app for use on an iOS or android device (phone or ipad). I have looked at the apps on Google Play and the iTunes store, but I can't see any marine charts available for Phuket waters. I see the US, Britain, Africa and New Zealand but no Thailand. Is anyone using an marine app for mobile and where did you get the charts? Thanks for the help.

It is disappointing that no one replied. I too am looking for Borax for my swimming pool, along with baking soda in bulk.
If you are having no success with emails on Alibaba, perhaps an email in Thai or a phone call in Thai could get better results.

Got the rope lights at Keehin. They had everything I needed. Took only 10 minutes to gather up the bits, but took 20 minutes just to pay for the items. 2 girls working check out. 4 sitting around chit chatting. The check out girl had to manually type in stock numbers, descriptions, prices and other pertinent data, while her barcode reader sat on the table unused. Then she had to take it to another girl for approval or something and then finally took my baht and gave me change while an ancient serial dot matrix printer took forever to print a receipt. Glad I don't shop there often. Too frustrating.

What are you trying to do? Something like this?:
Yes.....EXACTLY....thanks for the replies...

Anyone seen LED Rope lights in any stores in Phuket? Need a 3M piece in daylight white with a plug.

Official Harmon Kardon and Bose dealer.
Good sales and service and they know their stuff.
I think the top store is now closed and into the big store.
Thanks. I will give them a visit.

I need a new AVR for my home. I would like a Harman Kardon but can't seem to locate any retailers here on Phuket. Power Buy in Bangkok has them but not Power Buy in Phuket. Odd. Phuket Directory was no help. Anyone run across HK while shopping electronics? Thanks

I have driven to Laos twice in my own car. For Laos at least, you have to get permission, in the form of a Purple Book, to take the Thai registered, plated car out of the country. The first trip was to Northern Laos, crossing near Chaing Rai. Insurance, vehicle check, docs from the Lao government required. We had to show such documents twice in our northern Laos trip.
Last year went to Southern/Central Laos. Got our Purple Book stamped before we left, but did not go through all the other documentation like the time before in the north. Just drove over and that was it. Never stopped once in the south or central regions. Scenery is much prettier in the north.
