Don't post nonsense. Any overstay in Thailand cannot be resolved without having a valid passport, so there you have your "why".

Many reports over the years of people on overstay getting a new passport first, before being able to leave. I don't recall even a single report of anyone being refused a new passport by their home country for being on overstay in Thailand.

Most airlines won't let you get on a flight without a valid passport. You can contact your airline to check.

  2. I renewed my passport while overstayed but it was about 30 years ago. I went to Immi at Suan Plu to have my entry stamp put in my new passport. I was told I could go to court or go to the airport and pay 20,000 Baht. The fines at court were much less but you had to stay in the Immi detention center and you had to have a ticket and you would be escorted to the airport. I slept on the Immi officer's table in his office instead of the large cell and he drove me to the airport which was Don Muang.

I don't know how it would work for you. If you renew your passport and go to Immi with an agent in Pattaya it might be less than the fine at the airport but you need your old passport with your entry stamp and or visa.

    Do some research.

I more like the idea of Trink than the mostly dross he churned out; calling go-go bars nighteries and hookers, demimondes. He was the pinnacle of the golden era of mongers, wearing big medallions and over-tailored shirts.

I have stayed the Miami Hotel on soi, where the film The Serpent was filmed to good effect. It's been done up since, but retains it's retro charm. Is it still open? I was thinking about booking it?

I knew Cleo Odzer who wrote Patpong Sisters, the first feminist, post-modernist critique -but surely unread here, except possibly by Gamma.

You seem to conveniently believe anything written in the media as fact.

Did the NZ Guys steel the police officers phone then try to delete photos ? OR...

Did NZ Guy2 pick up the phone which had dropped to the floor during the 'tussle for the gun' and then held on to it to later return ?

What IF the NZ Guys thought their life is in danger ???..   Better to be in serious trouble than dead, no ?
