I am no expert here but:
Is this a used bike and the cycle shop signed over the bike to you?
Is this a new bike you bought?
Either way rely on the shop to keep you on track with insurance and registration etc. Go with their advice. They should have a log started and tell you what to do on what date. You should be a busy man for 4 months if it is a new bike. Not sure how long if used.
Both are new bikes. I got my without problems after 3 month (well i used it a lot in the meantime :-)
My friend had problems last month with both. First he wanted to buy a new bike from a shop and after this seemed to get complicated he tried to buy an old one. But the immigration denied to give out the paper. Well i went to the immigration in small Mae Hong Son while he lives in Chiang Mai at the moment.

Why not hire a German from Mae Hong Son for 45000 Baht a month (5*8 hours, 14 days holiday) ?
Good english skills, 20 years experience as a programmer. PM to me if you are interested.
Otherwise you get what you pay for. I know why i'm still doing my business alone here in Thailand.

Hello i bought a motorbike with my name in the little green book last september without problems and only with a
triple entry tourist visa.
But now i heared from a friend that the immigration in CNX don't give you this resident confirmation (sorry don't know how they call it)
that you need. Last time i had to take the blue book (Tabien Baan) from my land lord and get this confirmation which i gave to the
motorbike shop.
Is this true? Is it just a local immigration issue or did they change this rule everywhere.

As somebody living in the northern parts of Thailand together with a Shan Girl i can only say that the coup has a terrible effect to the majority of the 80% people living in Mae Hong Son province. Nor surprising the thai population here is as low as in Yala and surely not more then 20%.
All this nationalism and fanatism of the new government and the military rulers are bad for everyone without 100% thai blood. Even the people who have a Thai ID but are of Karen origin see a lot of racism by the 100% thai populated authorities. This together with the immediate change of the behaving of the scumbags inside the amphores just one day after the coup (remember Thaksin forced them into: "Citizens are clients and you have to serve your clients" mantra) makes the living here much worse.
If the UN ever sends some B-52 bombers to Naypyidaw to force some Generals to think more about Democracy they should also drop a few bombs over Bangkok.

Rest in Peace and thanks for the cheap stuff.
You will be sorrowly missed in Mae Hong Son, Mae Salong and even in South Central Los Angeles, Brooklyn and many other places.

Privatisation of government run institutions is needed to increase their efficiency.
Typical relgious neocon bullshit.
I can show you as many examples where this is wrong as you can show me that this is correct.

Is it possible to make a daytrip to Tachilek, (Burma, near Mae Sai which lies in Thailand of course) without annulling my visa or 30 day stamp ? If so, what's the procedure ?
No

To be honest:
If this card would have included long-term-visa and the right to own a small property i believe Thaksin could have made his 1.000.000 sales.
In fact i find the idea for a country like Thailand to sell some kind of "citizenship" a great business idea.
But with 1.000.000 people the benefits would simply not work. They are based on businessman behaviour who don't have time.
Think about 500.000 retired persons doing spa visits and golfing every day in Phuket or Pattaya. Quite impossible, but visa and a home, why not.
-
Since when has it been illegal to obtain 3 consecutive single entry visas?
It's not illegal but unfortunately Visas are always a gesture of good will. And we are all suspicious at the moment.
You keep hoping that it will get better after the election.

Is there anything else then the Mae Sai border Runs.
I know that there are some expensive packages from BKK.
And yes i want it as cheap as possible (so Guesthouses for <= 200 Baht)
-
Wasn't there some plan for very poor people with less then 900 Baht a month in 2004/2005?
Did they stop this or did it never really started?
I remember that they hadn't too many people in this category and i'm pretty sure that they gave
at least a few millions to Mae Hong Song province (which is even poorer then the Issan).
-
Getting a good Office Chair is not easy, i only found one acceptable in the World Trade Center BKK. But still far away from what i had in Germany but almost the same price of 60000 Baht.
For the transport question: Share a container with somebody who is moving to Thailand. Pretty sure there are many poor love buffoon who try to find there luck here and are happy if they can save a few hundert dollars. FedEx and UPS will charge you an extreme price (i had to import a special computer closet from the states once).

Could you imagine a bunch of Thais going on an internet forum and complaining about the new terminal at Heathrow.
When they visit Germany and have to do a stop over: yes they do this many times.
In fact i find your question pretty stupid.
-
hmmm,no... nope that is not what Ive seen at all. When I almost died in a motocycle accident, about 40 Thai people pointed and laughed AT me (including police officers standing nearby). When I sprained my foot in a muay thai fight girls would imitate my limp and laugh AT me
I agree with this. But it is not a Farang only thing. They also laugh when another thai has an accident.

how does the OP survive in the world? i dont think i could convince a mentally challenge 8 year old that there are 10 females for every male. can OP tie his own shoes? does someone help him put change in a bts machine to get a ticket? can he count past 20?
He writes "but my Thai wife recently told me" any more questions. No i don't think many Thais are mentally older the 8 years.
And this is answer part 2: Why don't farang ladies like thai husbands?
-
Besides how could it be 522? the most extra days from leap years would be 3, the answer can only be 521.
No the question does not contain the word "consecutive years" so 521 or 522 is correct

My maths is simple: If i can make reliable >1500 Euro (after Tax/Health insurance) from my internet business then i go back to germany, if i cant make this money i will stay here. Thailand is nice but if you are in the low income level.
-
If i'm ready to pay 20K Baht and i'm on my way to the airport i would always be
worried to stay in a hotel or even Kaosan buesthouse in Bangkok. In the past just
one hotel was not checking my passport and my visa because they were just to busy.
Will they report guests to the thai police or will they just refuse your check-in?

Found myself in a beerbar yesterday with a lovely young girl who offered me some fun.
I checked here ID card and found out that she was just before her 19 birthday but shes
from the philippines. I didn't want to check her workpermit so don't ask me about this.
I know the legal age for fun with a thai lady is 20 but it is 18 on the philippines. I would
guess that it is still legal to go with her here in chiang mai. But i would be happy if
somebody could confirm this.

In thailand if they want to steal from you - is more like stealth rather than by force. I'm sure they would sell them but don't know where. I don't know if the pepper would help unless you hold it in your hand all the time. It's too crowded in bangkok you might end up spraying somebody else.
I don't have problems with stealing but with some young thai guys from time to time.
Take some thai boxing class for self defense.Any recommendation for a good Sumo Wrestling school here?

Maybe he had a bad dream and thought he was He-Man and his skinny Thai girl was Skeletor?
Maybe he jumped because his skinny Thai girl was He-Man (please take a look at a thai dictionary to translate
this two dirty words, then you will understand why there are no He-Man toys here in Thailand).

It seems a bit silly to me - that in this world of paying extra to offset carbon emmisions when you fly for the good of the planet - that airlines will happily let a seat go empty on a long flight, when it could easily be given to someone else.
Believe me they will try to not levae the seat empty. But they will also try to get the money for it twice.
You are pretty naive my friend.
-
Jeez, my beer bill alone is over 6000B per month.
So is mine, but i still live with 22000 Baht a month and have rented a very nice but small (45qm) western style home.
And sometimes it is hard to spend even this money in Mae Hong Son.
-
Is it? If yes, where can i buy it.
If not what else is legal for self defense?
