I am travelling to the UK for the Christmas / New Year period, over the time my parents will celebrate 50 years of marriage.
I want to buy them something fitting for the occasion but am stuck, can you guys put your suggestions forward?
preferably Thai-related and physically not too big as it needs to travel with me.
thank you in anticipation of your wonderfully inventive and original suggestions.

once again, thanks for your valued input

This has probably already been answered and my apologies if this is another old hat Question
I bank with Ayudhya and want to set up a monthly standing order, transferring a set amount each month to a UK bank account
Being pessimistic about Thailand I am guessing this normally straight forward practice is not so here, what do I need to know? Is it straight forward or not?
I have not approached my bank regarding this as yet as I am hoping to get some feedback from other BM's who have done this
thanks in advance

My advice, If you are shipping into Thailand, get a door to door price.
my advice also, I used a company that provided a door to door service, although it didnt stop the thai delivery company from the docks to my door trying it on to get 1500 baht out of me... I told them to F*&^ off! they delivered nonetheless!

Of course I would have punched them all in the face, jumped in the motor and ran over the bike several times before flipping them the finger

A Thai Company just outside of Pattaya (10km) we are a specialist HVAC contractor for the Oil and Gas Industry, we are looking for someone ideally with Mechanical Engineering knowledge preferably with air conditioning bias
suggest you check out our website www.miac-hvac.com to gain an understanding as to what we do.
In short we are looking to recuit Project Engineers that would be capable of design HVAC systems as per our client specifications. Project Management experience is also essential.

Anyone wearing Thailand or Singha or Chang vests or no top at all inside a building (food hall, shopping mall) should be removed immediately, taken to the outskirts of the city, wasteland and shot

I dont mind Thai players in a City shirt providing they are good enough, there were a couple during the recent Asia Cup that are worthy of training with the squad, it's his club now so why not?

I managed to order a 4-way locking flap from the Pet Shop down the side of Robinsons from the owner, the shop assistant called him and fortunately he spoke good English and was able to understand what I wanted, I should get it next week - knowing my luck I will be picking up a dog lead
With hindsight I wish I had opted for the magnetic catch type that is activated from the cat collar the other night one Thai cat ran into the house chasing my falang cat who was chilling on the front step with the door open, I managed to lock my cat into a bedroom and shoo the Mafia cat out, but not before the disorientated moggie did two lap of the living room attempting to run up the walls and across the kitchen surfaces
this has happened twice now - why don't thai's take care of their pets ? (yet another topic done to death)
unfortunately i have lost my phone so the pet shop owner cannot contact me
if ANYONE is coming to Patters soon PLEASE buy me a magnetic collar or 4-way lockable cat flap from your country of origin and i will happily re-imburse you AND buy you a beer or 3
PM me .........

'you can get it if you really want, but you must try, try and try, try and try, you'll suceed at last'
words from a song I forget the name/artist
thought it applied to this post

There are two particular type of cat flaps that are most popular..
One is the one Phil Conners described; 4-way locking, can exit but not enter, can enter but not exit ,freeway either way and locked both sides.
the other type is a magnetic flap, this is locked but is activated from a magnet of the cats collar, so as you moggies walks up to the flap, the magnet reacts and the flap opens
I am preferring the former choice as my cats have never worn collars and I am reluctant to introducing them to one now

hi,
I got mine from a little petshop at the side of Robinsons in Sriracha. It was imported and about 1000 baht, but having tried all over Bangkok as well as Pattaya that was the only place that had one.
Hope that helps
I called in there on Saturday, BOY! did I have fun trying to explain what a cat flat is to the girl behind the counter!
no luck, when did you buy yours from there?

Yes. Caddy Shack. Very good food.
But it's not a pub and it only does mash or chips, not roast potatoes.
Kilkenny in Walking Street is pricy, but no better than P&W.
All this was discussed in great detail in a thread six months or more ago - on dining out in Pattaya.
OK I give up ......... <deleted> is it then?

I have had the carvery at Jamiesons twice and would not return - absolutely awful
Had the Roast Beef at Caddy Shack Yesterday for the 2nd week running - lovely , AND for 175 THB - good VFM.
I have also on occasion had the Carvery next door in Harley Bar, no complaints, nice fodder, the roasties are done to perfection but no Yorkshire Pud
I get good reports about the Sportsmans carvery - I think its about 350 THB though - but I have not tried it myself
