Something aint right here because as someone pointed out, most TGs will not admit to lying even if the evidence is overwhelming. I think the story is a load of bunk. It dont add up

To put it nicely, what is considered truth in our culture vs Thai culture is not the same. I believe the perception of this dilemma cannot be debated on this forum without upsetting at least half of the people. I think the best bet is never invest more financially or emotionally than you are prepared to walk away from because the risks are high.

Sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with 'wasabi' on this one. Just to make sure that I was correct, I just asked my Thai wife who has lived in both the American and Thai culture and is totally fluent in both languages as to whether she sees any difference in cultures in what is considered lying and her answer was that there is no difference. The interesting thing I just learned is that Thai's also understand the concept of what we call a 'white lie' but do not have a specific name for it as we do.

Lying is the easiest way to destroy trust so it should always be one of the most important issues to consider before entering into any meaningful romantic relationship

I agree with posts #2 and #3. I see advertisements all over Bangkok at outrageous prices, far higher discrepencies than I see in this forum. I see them in magazines, travel agency windows, online agencies, real estate agencies, flyers on supermarket bulletin boards, etc. The prices I have seen in this forum are much more in line than what I've seen elsewhere. Perhaps the OP should offer a hand hold service for prospective tenants or perhaps he should start up a renters consumer protection agency. I know that his #1 concern is the welfare of others. I remember 2 years ago, this section of the forum was a great read. Posts from the likes of monochaser, DJPat and others were intriguing and thought provoking; most importantly, they were a great read and got great responses. Look now at this section with such effeminate topics as "name game" "change a letter" and so on. <deleted> is this? The bingo section? Hi all. I want to thank you all for your helpful comments, I do appreciate it greatly. I plan to be more open to pursuits like the one from the farang I described in my OP. The guy was OK.
